If we're going for goofy, I found this one on the next page of that thread.

Oh shit. It's Kane Hodder. Do you have a Robert Englund?
EDIT: Beaten by seconds. Gah.

Is that Kane Hodder?
Yeah. That convention was all the cenobites and Ashley Laurence from Hellraiser, Bill Moseley, Kane Hodder, and Ruggero Deodato as the big names. There were other regulars like Tom Savani and Danny Trejo.

Doesn't matter. When you fill out the return form, they just give you a UPS label to print out and something else to throw in the box. The packing slip is useless.
lol, they already placed an order for me with one-day shipping.

Thanks, Jerline J.

<3 Amazon.

Damn Baker, that sounded like it was a blast.
One of the best weekends of my life. It was my first convention though so I got way too drunk the first night and missed three of the four screener movies on Saturday. :lol

I'm sure it's the same reason people go to Comic Con and shit. It is absolutely surreal being around people with common interests when I don't know any in real life. I was hanging out with a group of ten strangers turned friends by the end of the weekend and I don't even leave my house here.

Borrowing a page from the Rock Band Network, the game will also now let you rate tracks using a "lighters" system. One lighter? Worst song ever. Five lighters? Maybe this is the song you lost your virginity to, who knows. The point is further personalizing your collection and your experience. Songs rated low will appear in random set lists with less frequency; songs rated highly will appear more often. You can even account for ratings when using the aforementioned filter system.
The peripheral itself is a full two-octave keyboard. When playing the standard game, you'll be confined to five keys, marked on the keyboard by the standard red, yellow, blue, and green colors. When playing in the game's "Pro" mode, however, you're dealing with something else completely -- the hardest difficulty levels may find you playing up and down the keyboard's 25 notes.
The keyboard parts can be played on guitar:
Sussman pointed out that you don't need to own this standalone peripheral to play the keyboard parts in songs. If you already have a guitar controller, the standard game will support that. On the flip side, guitar and bass tracks can also be played using the keyboard controller; this is good news, since there will likely be many tracks in your library that feature zero keyboard parts.
YES:
While the ability to create customized set lists was a feature introduced in Rock Band 2, Rock Band 3 takes it to another level. Players will be able to save set lists this time, giving them names, and even logos. Setlists can also be shared online.

It's neat that the keyboard parts can be played on guitar.

It is not neat that the guitar can be played on the keyboard. That makes me even less "optimistic" about remaking older songs.

Additionally power over "Battle of the Bands" concept from Rock Band 2 -- where Harmonix would frequently issue challenge-style set lists for players to compete in -- has been given to the player. You'll now be able to create your own battles, share them with friends or opening them up for the world to play. This doesn't have to be done from just your console, either -- players can create battles online via rockband.com.

It'll also be possible to push new battles and other content to friends via social networks like Facebook and Twitter.

It's like they took everyone's wishlists and decided "fuck it, just do everything."

Oooh, nice; they are making a MIDI breakout box to hook your own equipment up to.

And on the drum kit, we’re actually opening up the mysterious second input jack. That will be by default a second kick pedal jack…or you can switch it to be a hi-hat, which functions in the free-play drum modes or the drum fills.

That’s true. The Rock Band 2 cymbals, all that stuff is super-functional right out of the gate. And I’ll add that almost our entire legacy catalog is already authored for cymbals. With keys and Pro guitar, the legacy stuff doesn’t support Rock Band Pro, but Rock Band Pro supports legacy songs for drums.

$300 for an awful beginner guitar? It should be no more than $200

They're literally some of the worst guitars you could get.

Very awesome new tidbits.

Set list creation and song selection has been completely revamped. It’ll be easier to find songs you want to play via advanced filters, which we knew about from the USA Today story. But did you know you’ll be able to hide songs you don’t want to play? And find songs you may not know about via a song-recommendation system that will “suggest tracks from Rock Band’s colossal music library, based on personal fan preference”? You’ll also be able to save set lists and share them with friends, both in-game and via RockBand.com.

Everything’s integrated. We knew about the new, all-encompassing career mode that tracks your progress no matter what you’re doing in the game. But did you know that career mode will have over 700 “goals and rewards”? And that online leaderboards will be integrated into the career mode? And that you’ll be able to share your progress via in-game integration with Twitter, Facebook, “and more”? Well, see? Now you do.

From the IGN article:

and the ability to have four drum sets or whatever kind of instrument combo you like; allowing for a total of seven players at once.

Sounds familiar :lol

Yes legacy for pro drums. No for pro guitar.

And uh oh guys, the platform thread might die...

Well, since we’re talking about DLC, do you know at this point if DLC from Rock Band 3 going forward will scale down to be compatible with Rock Band 2?

DS: We’re still trying to figure out how the landscape lies for DLC in Rock Band 3. We are committed to continue to build the catalog, but we’re not really prepared to talk about the specifics of our DLC strategy.

OH SHIT

Sylvain Dubrofsky: [via e-mail] We have new gameplay that we use for trills, tremolo picking, and rolls. Essentially, if the part is really fast and loose our authors can mark it and a special graphic appears on the track. Players can then hit all the notes as long as they play fast enough rather than having to beat-match these really awkward parts.

BBG, they used your idea!

Now, for the megaton:

[As for scoring,] in previous band games when you played with more than one person — say drums and guitar — you would record a “band” score and that’s it. In RB3 we re-engineered the scoring so that in that situation you record a drum score and a guitar score as well!

Another Neversoft innovation stolen :(

Across the bottom of the menu screen is something Harmonix calls "the overshell" -- for every member of your band, there's a little popup menu where players can set, using their own instruments, their login name, their instrument track of choice, their own difficulty setting, lefty mode, and any other options. That's right -- no more will your Rock Band parties feature one awkward person yelling out, "Guys! Don't touch anything! Just let me set it up!" Everything works seamlessly -- as one person navigates to the right play mode, everyone else sets their own tracks up and chooses their own options. Additionally, the overshell allows drop-in, drop-out anywhere, anytime during the game -- as Harmonix told us, "this isn't a separate team mode or a party play style," it's everywhere in the game.

Depending on how much noise the realtar makes, I might actually need to get the halftar anyway.
Either way, this should take my drum/guitar ratio from about 95/5 lately to about 60/40.
I really hope that they have thin necks, though, because of my girl-hands.

Ok let's figure out this picture because it's confusing on multiple counts.

2prh8ph.jpg

1. Why are there seven lanes if the open notes are labeled?

2. Why is the open note colored red? I'm guessing colors might not really matter in pro.

3. Why does first note not have a number?

4. What kind of lame ass chords are those in the second pic? It looks exactly like some bullshit "song" this kid in my dorm wrote in high school. Edit: Oh nevermind, I didn't see the chord names off to the left. Iiiiiiiiinteresting.

I don't think there's seven lanes there; the notes are right on the strings, so it'd be six.

That overshell stuff sounds craaaaaaaaaaazy.
?

Count the lanes. There are seven. It's confusing unless they have a separate lane for open notes.

Edit: Ohhhhhhhhh I get what you're saying. Yeah you're right. The notes aren't coming down the lanes, they're coming down the strings. My bad.

bah, so no double bass, but two pedals are supported now, and you can hi-hat and double bass in free play.

I guess that's ok, but it woulda been nice to just have an OPTION to enable double kick note tracks.

jerks.

nvm... didn't look at it long enough.

The Rock Band 3 Wireless Drums and Cymbal Kit can be purchased as a bundle, or the Pro-Cymbals can be bought separately for $39.99.

And ew, I don't think I like the buttons on that halftar. I'll probably go the whole way.

Edit: And look, they did what I said. All the strings are the same gauge for lefties.

alright. fuck rb2. it's not GOTF anymore.

we have a new contender.. and jesus christ does it look packed with content. I seriously can't wait to see the rest of the setlist. as quoted in the article "I think people will be very happy".

URRRRRRRRGH! WANT.

I wonder if they'll at least let you still sing? I'd hate to have to back out of a setlist because someone chose an old dlc song that doesn't have harmonies.
