Except they said RB3 DLC files aren't compatible with RB2 so that can't be the case.
Purchase it now, play in RB2 until RB3 comes out, download superior DLC file with Pro Mode + Keyboard added in???

Have they announced a bundle with drums + cymbals + pro guitar + keyboard etc for Rockband 3?

Or will everything be separate?

I hope there is a bundle like that. I need to replace all of my stuff. It's RB1 era.

I remember reading an interview where they said some bundles will be exclusive to retailers, but you can mix and match what you want online, or something to that effect.

Oh That's great.

How accurate is shit like the hand animations in game? If they are spot on then I'd imagine it aint much more of a stretch, yo.
The hand animations are all approximations. Rather good ones, though. So, unfortunately, that wouldn't work.

hell no. play moar drums.
The songs are just too bleh for me to get around...and, unfortunately, good drum tracks can't save this one.

I have a feeling that dlc schedule will slow down considerably with the addition of pro. Ode tracks. The authoring of them must be a massive mount of work, unless they have the ability to auto-author from a playthrough
It seems like pro guitar would be a hell of a lot easier to chart than expert guitar. There's no art involved... no tough decisions, just copypasta.

There's no 'source' from which to just CTRL-C, and they still get to hand-author it, to ensure it lines up and plays correctly. On top of that, they're still doing traditional charting.

The timing, sure. But they already need to figure that out for expert.

long World Cup story
Sorry, that I answer so late, Pedro, but it was night over here. It sounds very tragic, I probably can only imagine how important the World Cup would have been for Equador. It's also very important in Germany, though, I can't think of what would happen if we didn't qualify for a World Cup. Maybe we'll share a group in 2014, we would gladly give the second place to Equador again :D

I would be somewhat happy with that. I understand that music tastes are wide and varied, but who really cares about Spoon or The Great Southern Trendkill outside of a few hundred people? The deluge of DLC has made me lose a great amount of interest. When the game first came out and we only received three songs a week, I bought every single song and things like the Boston pack blew me away.

Over saturation :(

I made this exact arguement ages ago and got shit for it.

Yes but I read a blog post that put it much more eloquently than your usual trolling and now it makes alot of sense.

Just like me.

Just because they release a song, doesn't mean you have to buy it. Who cares that certain weeks are shit...most people cannot afford all the damn songs anyway.

Sorry, Grecco. :D

Code's gone. Archie destroyed.

You don't have to buy all the DLC unless you're Shaggy, but by releasing so much it makes it hard for me to really give a shit and pay attention to most of it. RBN is the worst, it's literally 99% shit nobody has heard of, released randomly at high volume. The PS3 method of RBN at least has you pay a bit of attention each Friday.

Obvs if something I know is released I'll pick it up, but it's easy to just dismiss anything you don't know.

Valid points. But it's really not that difficult to just youtube or iTunes the DLC tracks for the week. Normally I just watch the chart vids on Tuesday and decide that way. Unless the DLC is something I have been waiting for. Agree about RBN...although HMX are so much better in the DLC department than GH it's almost comical.

I'm with Space. It's not hard to keep up. You're in this thread all the time and you know what's being released every week. The same thing can (and is) easily done with the MOTD letting you know the announcement and what's available on Tuesday. PS3'ers have a more difficult time with that, but it's not hard to check a page once a week or follow RockBand on twitter.

As for RBN, that's a different story. I liken that to just going into a local record store and browsing. I did that so much during my high school days. I'd just browse for hours and if I saw something that had a cool cover or was from a label I was familiar with, I'd ask the employee if I could listen to it real quick. I found so much awesome music back then in that manner. It's a lot harder nowadays with the internet. I kinda miss that.

Also, why do I always get picked on for buying all the DLC when there's at least 2 other people in the thread that do the same fucking thing?

I'm not saying it's difficult to keep up like it's something I just couldn't possibly do. I mean it's hard to keep interest. RBN is nothing but shit, weekly DLC at this point is pretty much a case of waiting for a band you like And unlike, say, Pro Mode in RB3, there's is absolutely no reason for me to buy a song for RB simply because it has a good chart anymore. I have hundreds of good charts. When RB3 comes out I imagine it'll be more like "Oh, this song is good for a beginner" and the process can start fresh.

I used to get the sense earlier on that both of these games picked songs more for gameplay reasons. (for dlc or discs) A choice would seem bizarre, then you'd find a song clearly teaching you something specific. And there was more care to ordering them on discs to ramp up in that way.

It seems like the dlc focus shifted away from that and more toward stuff that just has a lot Youtube views or a high sound scan rank.

Or matches Harmonix's extreme right wing Christian viewpoints.

Okay...What. The. Fuck?
You don't remember the week where we got nothing but Christian rock? Also, remember that there are a ton of A7X songs in the game and they are a Christian metal band.

There's another internet Rock Band group I hang and play online with that helps me out with the RBN stuff. They all play on expert, and for the most part are much better than me (they just don't have all the DLC like I do). So we bounce recommendations off of each other and actually get online and play together/watch each other's streams and that makes RBN more engaging.

I've actually had more fun with a lot of the 'unknown' RBN songs I've bought than the regular DLC lately, too, which helps. Plus I used to DJ at a 15 watt college alternative station for years, so I've always set aside a budget and time for unknown music.

That I couldn't tell ya, I buy it all too so anything you say to Shaggy about this applies to me. (Did I just give you all a license to pick on me? Ah well, go for it 'I'd rather be hated for everything I am' as the song goes)

Yes I do have the Nick songs. 'Headphones On' is by far the best, and I seriously think if it was just a free download and no one mentioned it was from Nick that it would be generally accepted. I mean the chick in iCarly is the little girl from 'School of Rock' -- how can you go wrong with that?? She was trained by Jack Black! (Figuratively)

The other Nick songs, well they have their good points and bad points but there's non-Nick songs that are better and worse than they are...

The hardest thing for me anymore is to find the time to actually improve on scores, because when I get caught up on sight reads, there's a new batch of stuff out there. :/

Im getting excited by just thinking of learning Pro Modes!!! It will be like picking up GH1 again for the very first time when it was all fresh and new. Going to be very very very fun!!

I must have banished that incident from my mind. For the better, I would say.

Fun until people hit the wall that reminds them why they were playing fake instruments instead of real ones.

That's because the Boston pack was legitimately amazing, if it released today there wouldn't be a single song off the debut album. Everyone would be looking forward to the Ozzy DLC much more if the pack consisted of his hits instead of having four of the six songs be from the past few years. I'm not buying the oversaturation argument.

That's because you post photos of yourself holding $400-worth of Microsoft points

What sucks is that you are going to have to keep the real-tar in tune or play the game at a decent level of volume to overpower the sound from the strings. It will especially be shitty on songs that use capo's or some bullshit c tuning. Drop D won't be an issue though, but there are quite a few bands that play a whole step down, so that could potentially annoy me. I'm going to buy the strat though for sure, unless its more than 300 bucks, which is doubtful.

I already own a squire electric guitar and have always wanted a midi guitar controller. So I'm definitely leaning towards the cheaper half-tar - also for the reasons you stated above: tuning, strings drowning out speakers, etc.

The only thing that kind of bothers me is that the half-tar only has 17 frets so anything above the 17th fret is transposed but when you play with the real-tar the game recognizes this and charts it closer to reality placing notes on frets above 17.

Also - playing on real strings would actually teach you to play better / force you to increase your left hand strength whereas the half-tar buttons are probably easy to "fake."

:lol thats ok man, I hope we can have a rematch in other circumstances. Ecuador was already qualified for the next round and kept out more than half of the main team....and Germany made fun of us to the delight of your crowd. You would have won anyway with our main team but it would have been a more disputed match.

We should be in this WC instead of Uruguay...we are so much better than them...but it is football...and things like this happen. We were above Argentina in ALL the last half of the qualifiers and on the very last match they jumped and qualified.

WC is so exciting for us, we qualified for our first time ever in 2002 at SECOND PLACE (and you know, qualifiers in south america are the most disputed in the world)...then in 2006 we also qualified with 3 matches remaining (each day Ecuador had a WC match it was a "holiday" here, nobody had to go to job)....and we were pretty sure we could have done it for the third time now. But excess of confidence was our worst enemy. Maybe next time =(
