Hopefully the servers can be patched to not take certain types of ridiculous information.

Played a ton of this today for the first time, and it is a really fun game and I have picked it up at an ok level after a few games. The only issue I have so far with it is that a lot of the time your own teammates watch you boost in to hit a shot, and they also boost and smack into you causing the shot to go wide or straight up with no sense to attempt to block the other team from doing the same.

This game wasn't on my radar at all, but it's really fun. I just wanted to play a couple of matches last night and ended up playing it for 2-3 hours. I've been playing with ball camera so far and did ok with it, but i'm not sure if it's going to hinder my potential in the long term or not. Any recommendations on which camera angle to use, or is it a ymmv type of thing?

Just played 2 games were my partner was being an asshole. First one i tried to clear a ball but it bounced against the wall and went to our goal for an easy goal. Well can happen right? But he blamed it on me and that makes me turn into an asshole myself. So i made an own goal right after. I'm all for sportmanship but i hate "OMG NOOOOB"-people
Other guy said i had to defend but he went 1 against 2 all the time and it went nowhere. So i came out of my goal and i scored. After that they scored and i was all my fault again. Hehe.

ALSO the devs have contacted me and there may be a GIANT opportunity on the way for my YouTube channel. Like, as big an opportunity as they come. I'm at work and can't even concentrate I'm so excited.
ALSO ALSO sweet goals SalshaShark. If you wanna practice your aerials, try doing some unfair mode 1v4 against bots. They'll probably pin you back but when it's in the air they won't go for it. That's the perfect balance between playing people who can challenge you and having time to think about your aerial hits.

I've experienced a ton of smack talk and poor sportsmanship in Rocket League. Even more than Battlefield 4.
At this point I only play on teams with all friends. Luckily everyone is still playing this all the time so that's not very difficult.

Yeah, you can check out all the games we did at www.twitch.tv/TeamRocketRL. We did some 3v3s with Kro in the end and I just sat back and admired while Ryan and Kronovi did incredible things with their cars.
Is it just me or should it be painfully obvious to anyone ranked Pro and above what starting roles are at tipoff for 3v3? Meaning, if you are closest to the goal, you should hang back. If you are in the middle, play middle, and if you are diagonal, go for the ball. If two players are diagonal, someone should shout "I got it!" or "Go for it!".

That's why I sort of had to stop playing Ranked 3v3. The same people that don't know starting roles are the ones that go for the ball no matter what instead of anticipating the ball, heading back towards your own goal to prepare for defense, etc.
In 2v2 the roles are much clearer and I find most of my teammates are much more responsible and know their roles.

I gave them a try last night and have been using them since. Not as fisheyed as a lot of common settings I'm seeing, and I'm actually really getting used to the lack of camera stiffness. Only thing I personally changed is swivel speed to 3.20.

Kronovi did give me a great tip last night. He 'stole a goal' off me (I'd probably have missed) and after I had a go he said it was because I didn't take the shot when he would have. I asked what he meant, and he said that he always takes the shot at the earliest possible opportunity. I've always hesitated that split second until the ball's right where I want it to be, but of course, by then my opponent may have nipped in and taken it from me. If you take the shot early and miss, you're at least sending the ball towards your opponent's goal, perhaps giving you an assist or keeping the pressure on them at the very least.

Thats super dissapointing as a PC player, hopefully Psyionix can deal with the hacks better.
Heard a few reports of suspicious play on PS4 too but could just be hearsay.

I like the FOV at max, but you gotta compensate for it with camera height and distance. I use:
FOV: 110
Height: 90
Distance: 230
Angle: -4
Feels great to me, better than the recommended settings (which are just slightly different), but that might just be because I'm used to this now.
I don't know how invisible cars is done (or if it's just a glitch), but the hack where the guy is flying about and the ball is magnetised is packet modification, which can be done on either PS4 or PC.
That said, I've not seen either online myself yet, either PS4 or PC versions.
The checkbox doesn't work.

Mightve been answered but I didnt see it, did the devs have any word on when crossplay parties may be implemented? Would be awesome to play with more gaffers.
Theoretically with way more effort the same can be achieved on PS4.
No idea if that is some sense of fair balance to point that out but realistically doing it on PC is much easier than on PS4. One requires a single exe the other requires more custom software in your home network.
Either have PS4 -> PC -> Router -> WAN or modify it on the Router directly. (If you have one that allows for custom sw, like a linux based router.)

How do you modify packets on console? Intercept them with a PC and modify them before sending them on to the server?
Also, fuck cheaters. What kind of lowlife do you have to be to gain pleasure out of cheating your way to a good score instead of doing it yourself? How is that even satisfying? Some people are just not normally functioning individuals, I suppose.
My skill is getting a lot better. I had a ridiculously awesome wall shot about 2/3 up right into the goal last night. I need to crop the video tonight because it's pretty much my best goal. Been doing aerial (flying) shots with decent results, although no goals. I need a lot of work on my ball hitting though. I have a difficult time aiming the ball properly and following through on goals. My defense is getting really good though and have been getting some fantastic saves.
Outside of the original Gears of War, this is the most fun I've had with a multiplayer game since Nintendo 64. Loving it. Played like 5 hours last night. Don't even mind losing because I know I'm improving.
Edit: I also remapped rearview to L1 and changed scoreboard to R3. It was too difficult to watch while reversing while it was bound to R3.

Yeah, just hook up your PS4 to your PC and use connection sharing. Psyonix did say they get reports when impossible shit happens on the server and they did respond to the video, so hopefully the next patch.

Last night was one of those, "Oh, fun, my brain forgot how to aerial" kind of nights. It would be three aerials where I fly under the ball followed by a nice aerial where I jump over the ball in a majestic arc like some sad whale performing at Seaworld. Ugh, hope today I am more dialed in. This game reminds me of skeet shooting so much sometimes. Some days your brain just has the lead distances programmed in, other times you have to tell yourself "lead the ball. lead the ball" every second.
Do bots have "AI" avatars? Yesterday my team was getting beat and a player left. Another player named something like "Maddy" joined and they began to dominate. Scored 5 goals in a few minutes and single handedly won the match. If that's the AI jesus christ I want to just join teams with bots.
I think when a player replaces a bot, the AI avatars stays there anyway. Just look at the ping. A ping of 0 is AI.
