Has there been any word on whether this will feature the usual title scroll/end credits we're used to? CAn't decide if I want it or not...

Nobody knows. Uncharted territory here.

Can't imagine we won't get "a long time ago" though, and the main title receding. It'd be really, really weird if that didn't happen. Hell, even Clone Wars did at least that (although the logo was switched up, and the main title was this weird high-school marching band thing)

Those are great, though I'm mostly excited in this instance because of his Deathly Hallows work, which had well-rounded themes and action cues. I think they're really underrated because they're not scores for Malick or Oscar bait. The abstract nature found in those wouldn't work with Star Wars (depending) but his Potter scores are more in-line of what to expect.
I have no familiarity with Harry Potter myself, but I still trust the guy to deliver.
Despite having to stick with, I assume, Williams framework.

The "yes, sir" line did. It was terrible.

Did I talk about that line? DID I TALK ABOUT THAT LINE?! THE GOD DAMN GOAL POST IS WHERE I PUT IT!

But I do agree that the "Yes, sir" line felt a little off. But that's because it doesn't feel like it's in response to what that man is asking just a second before. I need more context and to see what immediately precedes that line.

Listening to it more I don't think the "This is a rebellion isn't it?" and the "I rebel" lines are in the same sentence. I get the feeling that the long pause before the "I rebel" line is a response to a question or some other statement. Very much feels like a cut together trailer line, but even then I don't find it that bad like others.

Which he did very well! If you have no interest I won't try and press it, but his work on Potter, for me anyway definitely stood up on its own. Some of it was very Williams, but Desplat's signature sound was still there in certain instances, and his action cues are great-- which I keep mentioning because it seems like most aren't really up to speed with the fact that Desplat can write awesome action music.

I linked to a track from Deathly Hallows Part 1 during the sky chase pages ago, and it's Star Wars up and down. In fact back in 2010 when the movie came out I was like damn, he'd do a good SW soundtrack.

Holy shit, I just realized Felicity Jones is Bill Nighy's daughter in the Worricker Trilogy movies

Ya I'm sold
What aspect of her sells you from that? I haven't seen her in anything and I have to admit she's the most worrying part of this trailer for me. Nothing about her from this footage scream rebel fighter to me.

I wonder if Count Dooku will get any mentions in this movie, since it's right after ROTS and the Death Star is being built with his architectural plans. Maybe his signature will be on them somewhere?

I keep wondering if any mention to the Lucas Prequels will ever be made in these newer movies, since they are still being counted as canon.

It's not really right after ROTS, it's right before ANH 18 years later. Kylo did mention clones in TFA if you think that counts, hopefully prequel references are kept to a minimum though so I can forget about them.

I would prefer it if they didn't, or changed it in some way to make it unique. A long time ago I posted this idea:

I think they should compromise. Use a version of the crawl, but different than the main movies.

A new reorchestrated version of the theme, shorter than the normal version and rerecorded, standard to spin-offs.

Instead of using the gold for the shortened crawl, use the "A long time ago.." blue for the Star Wars logo and the text. Reserve the gold for the main series.

The Clone Wars did something similar, having it's own short version of the theme and titles (though I wouldnt want that version, or for it to be that short, but you get the idea)

So what theory has more power ... the girl is Rey's mom or "Poe Dameron in a Mustache" (possibly Diego Luna ?) is Poe's father ?

Neither. Diego Luna's not playing a character with the name Dameron and Jyn would probably be too old to be Rey's mum. Plus, they're not going to have a plot point from TFA dependent on Rogue One. Especially when it's thirty five years or so before TFA.

Changing the color would be a great idea. I love it. If I remember right they were toying with doing this on Empire - blue scroll over the Hoth landscape was pitched at one point, I think.

Overall very excited. I think Felicity Jones sounded ... okay. Everything else though - the AT-ATs, the new troopers, the scale of the Empire vs the rebellion - impressed me.

Opening wise, I can see ROGUE ONE replacing STAR WARS, and A Star Wars Story replacing Episode/Subtitle.

I think it will be the standard crawl without the 'Episode XX' subtitle, so 'Star Wars' with 'Rogue One' underneath. There's no need to mess with this.

How could we even see that? Blue on white? Terrible.

Love the idea of blue on a starfield though.

The reason they didn't use the scroll in TCW, by the way, was because Filoni was concerned that younfg kids (since the movie is targeted a younger audience than usual) wouldn't be able to read it. Also it let them do a newsreel style voiceover, which was intended to be Republic propaganda to fit with the war theme.

I talked about it. What part of "lines" do you not comprehend? You're trying to move the goal posts here, not me.

The fuck? You responded to my post that SPECIFICALLY referenced the "I rebel" line, no other. Pluralizing "lines" could have been a mistake, and since you responded to me, why would I have assumed that you were lumping any other lines when I only mentioned one? So no, you don' fucked up.

Not so sure there will be a crawl.. doesn't need it, IMO. Lots of things they're doing differently with this film, and rightly so.

It just looks very typical blockbuster to me with the way the trailer was made/some bland dialogue.

The visuals are straight spot on though.

We are all entitled to our own opinions....but some of the comments in this thread.....some people just take shit too seriously. Not everything needs to be hyper-analyzed and fit your expectations. How do some of you enjoy anything? Sheeeeesh.

Excited for this, but definitely thought it was gonna be an X-Wing squadron or something before I saw this. Like this direction better honestly.

The thing about this is that the actual title of the film is Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The opening title is going to reflect this, not change the title. I don't see that being the official title but different in the movie. Sure, TFA's marketing just shows Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but it belongs to the mainline episodic series whereas Rogue One does not.

It is fully possible that they may do what you're saying, but my money's on something different. It'd be too similar to the main episode crawls when it's not a part of those.

I'm excited for this, but I'd love for a pilot centric film.

I think it needs/doesn't need it as much as any of the rest of them. I just can't see them dropping it, there's no reason to.

The crawl was only ever identical to the official title in the prequels IIRC, so it would actually be normal for them to be different to each other. Obviously we are just speculating, but I don't think they will drop something so essential to the Star Wars experience, spin-off or not.
