I think the thing that has always bothered me is that the film industry is ok with the rapist Polanski to continue to evade justice, but were against Trump.
Well Trump is going to be the next POTUS.

We have learned the astonishing news of Roman Polanski's arrest by the Swiss police on September 26th, upon arrival in Zurich (Switzerland) while on his way to a film festival where he was due to receive an award for his career in filmmaking.
His arrest follows an American arrest warrant dating from 1978 against the filmmaker, in a case of morals.
Filmmakers in France, in Europe, in the United States and around the world are dismayed by this decision. It seems inadmissible to them that an international cultural event, paying homage to one of the greatest contemporary filmmakers, is used by the police to apprehend him.
Roman Polanski is a French citizen, a renown and international artist now facing extradition. This extradition, if it takes place, will be heavy in consequences and will take away his freedom.
Filmmakers, actors, producers and technicians everyone involved in international filmmaking want him to know that he has their support and friendship.
People are defending Roman Polanski? Because he made some good movies? Are you kidding me? He made good movies thirty years ago! Even Johnnie Cochran didn't have the nerve to go, 'Well, did you see O.J. play against New England?'"
Rape! It's rape! Rape's number 2. Okay? It's murder then rape! It's number 2! Like, the United States wants to capture Osama Bin Laden and then murder him. We're not going to rape him. That would be barbaric.
France doesn't extradite its citizens.Just get the French government to nab him he goes to places like the Cannes film festival.
Fuck that piece of shit.

A reminder of the list of celebrities and directors that signed a petition asking for his release when he was arrested in 2009 and was facing extradition

The list is in the link. If you haven't seen it before, there are a lot of well known celebrities and directors in it.
And one quote from Chris Rock on the issue when he appeared on Jay Leno's show when this was happening
For a little bit of faith in humanity, here is a list of celebrities who have spoken AGAINST Polanski:

Sorry what is the context of this?

There may not be many huge names but there are more people such as Kevin Smith, Jon Stewart and Neil Gaiman who's personal opinions I listen to and care about than on the supporting list, so that for me means something.I remember seeing that. I couldn't help but notice that there aren't a lot of big names on that list like there is in the supporter list. It's hard to tell whether it's because they support Polanski or they don't want to come out against him because of how many powerful players are supportive of him.
Really fucking disappointing...
This is only the case because Polanski fled before he was sentenced. This isn't on the media and the courts. Nobody but Polanski is responsible that this has dragged on as long as it has.
There is a filthy underbelly in Hollywood, their time in the spotlight just hasn't come yet and may never come with such powerful people. There is probably a lot of disgusting people doing bad things and brushing it under the carpet in Hollywood circles. Shameful.
Really disappointed to see Wes Anderson on that list. Oh well.
And when you said Chris Rock, I was expecting him to disappoint too, but then I read it and I was anything but.

What did he do?Ugh, don't remind me about Scorsese.
Couldn't have ended up in any other way. Any merit-based verdict wasn't possible anymore. The supreme court was deciding solely if there were some procedural errors that would require retrial and the previous courts did a lot of due dilligence, so there was nothing there that could justify retrial.Any reason for the decision known?
What did he do?
It might have something to do with the fact that while top comedians usually get absorbed into Hollywood at their peak the dues to pay and track to reach it is completely different and while it has its own underbelly usually littered with depression and drugs it's not the same as Hollywoods underbelly, and comedians are also usually a lot more honest about the truth of both themselves and the lifestyle.Comedians in particular seemed to have no problem going at him. Chris Rock, Jon Stewart, Bill Maher, Howard Stern and Jay Leno were all confused as to why the hell Hollywood was defending this monster.
Holy shit this is crushing. A lot of actors and film makers I admire/respect on here.
Even now a Roman Polanksi joke will get you a tepid reaction.
lol whos the guy with the sad face that turns into a smile when the camera was on him?
The thing to remember about that applauding gif is that some are able to separate art and personal life. Some definitely can't and that's perfectly understandable in this situation, but I thought it should be said.
I was just flipping through his credits and... he had a role in Rush Hour 3??

People who don't want to support, or see support, for a child rapist do not have some inability to compartmentalize.
For someone with his past, barely surviving the holocaust, his pregnant mother murdered in Auschwitz and his second wife brutally slaughtered by a satanic cult while being highly pregnant...I think he should be treated incapable of crime anyway.
Yeah he's performs a cavity search on Tucker and Chan.
Incidentally, the big joke for his character is that he does a cavity search on Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker.
Brett Ratner wtf!
Why is David Lynch on that list tho
Why
What?
Having a horrible life isn't a carte blanche to rape a teenager
To be honest, I can actually believe that Brett Ratner didn't put two and two together when that scene was being thrown around. He does strike me as being that damn vapid.
His horrific past and things he had to endure are the very definition of mitigating circumstances...
