They'll probably end up under the Saber Games umbrella.
Not while Tim is around.

I was lucky enough to get to see Blackroom (The Kickstarter FPS before this). It was pretty damn clever and looked very good. I've not had the chance to see the new FPS, but I do hang around with some of the Romero Games guys, and they are all great guys, super chill, as is the man himself.

Interesting - is this game probably Blackroom? what type of setting was that game?

I doubt it. He talks about it in the book, but without going into too much detail it was a cross between something like Westworld and Prey. You are in a VR theme park basically, but with automatons or projected NPC, I can't really remember, and as an Engineer you have deeper access to the experiences, so when things go wrong you try to fix them. You had abilities which related to altering the park in real time, or moving between different "themes". It seemed a little like System Shock til he "programmed" himself a new weapon to take out the ghostlike bad guys in a straight up action sequence before going into another theme. I saw it in his Galway office before Covid so its been a while, and I won't add much more than is in the book here, as I said I meet up with some of the guys regularly.

Willits and Romero need to bury the hatchet. Saber is doing pretty well for themselves without Embracer.

I want this to be great and be one of those games that jist goes viral just to imagine phils face.

Not saying this is likely to be good or anything, but i sure hope it is.

Wasnt this guy going to make a game like a decade ago? i remember he even teamed up with Carmack for the "Remember Doom?!".

And look, the guy is cool, and he definitely shaped in a good way what video games are, but... he hasnt do anything worth it lately: Sigil 1 and 2 are just "ok". And Im being nice, Sigil 1 is trash, I couldnt wait to finish it.

Eh who cares. Considering how long games take to get developed, might as well talk about this shit in 10 years if not more assuming it ever sees the light of day(huge doubt here).

All I remember from Daikatana was two things.

The ad about making you his bitch, which I thought was a great ad. Not sure why gamers hated it. Back then ads were really in your face for sex, violence and laughs.

And second, I forget which gaming mag grilled it (maybe PC Gamer?) and the reviewer said it it was stupid it seemed like you were killing giant frogs.

Old men hold grudges for a long time lol. Also, Willits as refuted by Romero, Carmack, AND American McGee. Sounds like he might be the one who needs to apologize, and that will require a lot of pride swallowing lol
