Obsidian isn't interested in making New Vegas 2: After years of working on other people's games, the studio is finding 'joy' in doing its own thing

People looking back with rose colored glasses. Both New Vegas and Outer Worlds 2 have the same review scores on Meta of 84. I'm having fun with it.

Considering the "quality" of Outer Worlds and Avowed, maybe that's for the best.

Otherwise it would be just a great disappointment.
One and done.

That's pretty much the situation. They are delivering mediocrity with (mostly) horrible writing, but if fills the first party Game Pass catalogue really well since the games don't have enormous budgets.

Plus both Avowed and OW are easy to pick and play by anyone, I doubt that Microsoft would allow Obsidian to make Pillars 3 or some other isometric RPG, even after the success of BG3.

at least they can fuck up their own IPs and leave the rest of us in peace
Did they come and knock on your door? Did they harass you at the supermarket? How they are not leaving you rest at peace?
Their games barely have any marketing. You need to go out of your way to find something about OW2 and its release date...How is Obsidian harassing you?

Some of the takes on this forum...

First one wasnt that good either, aside from story choices. The atmosphere was shit. I much preferred the third one over it. Then again, I never really liked Obsidian and their work. Mid developers that had a decent writing team, which are no longer there. Havent played Avowed or OW2 yet, but I am curious to see if they improved.

more like they can't produce something to that same quality...

But even then, most Obsidian games are average at best, NV stood out for great writing, Stick of Truth was their only Genuine 10/10 game and i think alot of that came down to Matt and Treys involvement.

I don't need NV2. Just give me NV with modernised controls and gameplay, like better recoil, QoL features, modernised game engine that doesn't need a loading screen for every shack and building you want to enter. Apart from that, an action-orientaded cRPG won't be coming closer to perfection than NV.
