Glad to see this on pace of killing Titanic at #1. I'll probably go again to see Neytiri boobs, I mean the movie again on IMAX the next go around.

Quaritch at least has some reason to hate everthing on Pandora since it's how his face got fucked up. But the main villian in D9...the military dude...he just seems to enjoy hurting/killing the prawns for no apparent reason.

demosthenes said:Yea but Titanic was still making $20+ million in it's 10th weekend or something absurd like that, and I don't think anyone will ever match that.

$41M weekend. DESTROYS the fifth weekend record.
Will cross $500M domestic in 33 or 34 days, which is 11 or 12 days faster than TDK, and 64 or 65 days faster than Titanic.

It needs good legs, but not insane ones. It needs a multiplier of 2.5 off of this weekend to reach Titanic. That should be very doable.
Internationally it probably needs a multiplier of 2 or so to beat it.

$41 million domestic and ~$200 million foreign. Titanic is going down next week, 2 billion by the end of January.msdstc said:41 million this weekend domestically?! What the hell? /.../ This movie will probably surpass 2 billion.
With Bill Paxton, we were probably looking at $3b. There's always the sequel!PrivateWHudson said:Now my $1.6b WW prediction just looks silly. I really didn't think it could hit $2b without Bill Paxton. Who knew?
I still think that one of Quartich drinking coffee as the Titanic sinks was perfect. (Though I forgot to save it - anyone have it handy?)Aegus said:We can't even have a proper gif for when Avatar overtakes Titanic. It'd be like Cameron punching himself.:lol
With Titanic's legs I wouldn't even rule out $3b for Avatar now >.>GhaleonEB said:we were probably looking at $3b.

Two things. One, I'm so happy I went to see it. Two, I will never watch it again.
First, the bad. The film. It's really not that great. It's between 45-60 minutes too long, the second half pales in comparison to the awesome first half, and the inspirational speeches and overall corniness of the ultra bad army mans just starting getting out of hand. Worthington was really good though, as were most of the other main characters. The good though...
The film was the most incredible looking thing I've ever seen in a theater. JC has revolutionized theater-going with this new 3D or whatever it is, and it's not a gimmick at all. The visuals and special effects were insane, and I never want to see a non-3D film in the theater again. As long and as average as the film was, I will still recommend to everyone I know to see it, because it looks so amazing.
The first real 3D scene when Sully comes out of the cryo chamber is something I will always remember. It looked so good, at that moment I knew going to the theater to watch a movie has forever changed.
So proud JC is a canuck.

You herald it as the greatest looking film you've ever seen and how it has revolutionized the medium and yet you NEVER want to see it again.
This makes zero logical sense.
Please, explain to me how in your mind this makes sense.

Except Titanic is being planned for a 3D re-release, so if the ship ends up losing its top spot to Avatar, it might well end up taking it back eventually.border said:If Star Wars were digitized and put into 3D, it would only have to make 150-200M to be the number one film of all time (again).
