Word is, a $54.6 Million MLK weekend (Fri - Mon)
Domestic tracking to TDK and Titanic, including that estimate.

$28.3m until TDK, $95.7m until Titanic. TDK goes down next weekend. Titanic, one week or so later, depending on the weekend holds.

i wonder how much more money this movie will make if james cameron was murdered.

This is so random it almost got a chuckle out of me. I wonder how much funnier your post would've been if you were murdered.

I am someone that just saw it this Sunday, never really read anything on it or got hyped, and seeing it sort of normally like this, I am so impressed.

Simple story with powerful message. I cannot complain.

It was ironic that after the movie, as I walked down the stairs, each row was covered in popcorn, wrappers and plastic drink containers everywhere. I am glad that during those 3 hours of film that everyone took heart and realized they have a role to play in society to keep this beautiful planet called Earth going.

I love humanity and hate it so much at the same time.

Great movie.

People get PAID to clean that up. :P

I didn't like this film at all... The cheap-ass symbolism really annoyed me as did the none too subtle environmentalist message. It's so freakin' cliché, I can't believe the free ride it gets. Anyhow, if this wins Best Picture, this will be way worst than when Crash did it some years ago.

P.S. The special effects were amazing though.

This post is horrible. It's a joke, right?

It's so weird to me for people to be upset at the "environmentalist message." Why is this bothering people?
Because of guilt!

Like realizing you spent 50$ eating out the other night, when that 50$ could have brought food for a dozen people in Haiti for a day.

That doesnt mean that people shouldnt clean up after themselves. Do you leave shit lying around on the floor and whatnot after visiting a friends house then leave. Assuming it's their home so they should clean it? No, of course you dont. It is called common courtesy.

I don't let stuff like this ruin a movie for me... but it's a very surface level message. There was no depth or subtlty to the story, instead he shoves it in your face. The movie is more of a special effects vehicle rather than an oscar caliber film. I liked it a lot, it's no Aliens or T2, but it's still a pretty damn good action movie. Other than that it's really nothing special.

Haven't seen this posted yet:

1. Avatar $54,600,000
2. The Book of Eli $38,020,000

That's the 4-day MLK weekend.
I'm actually surprised they put in a prediction for Monday, before Monday had happened. Looking at the new estimates, Sunday only dropped 12% from Saturday. Even for a holiday weekend, that's bonkers. 0_o

Fun fact of the day: the three day take ($42.8m) is down 44% from opening weekend. On weekend #5.

Edit: another record: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/fastest.htm?page=500&p=.htm

I don't pay money to go to my friend's house where they are then paid to clean up after me. 0_o

The clean up people are there to clean up and they know it. :lol

I was personally pumped up to see this movie. I wanted an epic story. It's epic alright, but the characters are too one dimensional. If I were a child, 11 or 12 years old, I would have enjoyed it more. But the big MESSAGE the director is trying to convey annoys the sh!t out of me but even moreso is the way it is conveyed. The tacky symbolism is incredibly juvenile too and forced down our throats.

I must admit I am very surprised this is raking as much as it is. I saw it during its first week of release and never would have thought then it would smash records the way it is.

Do you also piss on the toilet seats in public restrooms instead of lifting the lid since janitors go in there? Do you just leave groceries you decided not to buy on a random shelf since others work there? Do you also leave all your trash on fast food tables for others to clean up even though they give you a trash can to put it in yourself?

Whatever happened to making people's lives easier by actually taking some personal responsibility for yourself and cleaning up your own mess? I take it you have never worked a job where you interact with the public. If you have worked one then you know one of the BIGGEST pet peeves of employees is cleaning up messes that lazy and inconsiderate customers leave behind.

Seriously. WTF?

Have you ever been to a sporting event? Theater seating signifies that you have a free pass to litter guilt-free as long as it's not more than what you'd normally consume. You pay a fuck-load of a premium at the concession stand for a reason.

Yeah we do, because that is where the places make a majority of their money. It isnt from tickets, that is for sure.

So basically the rationalization is that since you paid money you can be a slob and make a mess like a little child and not clean up after yourself. Sometimes leaving a nice sticky floor for the next person to come in and walk on and make the jobs of the employees even harder? I hope I never meet all of you that feel this way. It is so rude and disrespectful.

Yeah, let's all leave a sticky mess on the floor intentionally. I'm glad you aren't twisting what I'm saying.
