Well, Zoe is 31!

Ah, but what we see on the screen is not, in fact, Zoe Saldana. It is merely a representation of Zoe Saldana filtered through through the eyes of James Cameron and some wacky New Zealanders.

Best Blu-Ray Extented Cut of all time? Yeah Cameron got this too.

David Brooks is not pleased with Cameron's latest "White Messiah" tale.

Still, would it be totally annoying to point out that the whole White Messiah fable, especially as Cameron applies it, is kind of offensive?

It rests on the stereotype that white people are rationalist and technocratic while colonial victims are spiritual and athletic. It rests on the assumption that nonwhites need the White Messiah to lead their crusades. It rests on the assumption that illiteracy is the path to grace. It also creates a sort of two-edged cultural imperialism. Natives can either have their history shaped by cruel imperialists or benevolent ones, but either way, they are going to be supporting actors in our journey to self-admiration.

The man has a point. I would have loved to see what the Na'vi could do to defend themselves pre-Jake's entrance into their world. As is, the "They can only succeed once the white guy comes along" trope is definitely in effect.

I really hope that four hour cut makes it. I won't hold my breath though.

Also, yeah, I'm pretty sure Neytiri says "My Jake!" and not "Ma'Jake!". I don't even remember hearing her say anything remotely close to either of those lines in the film before that scene.

She does. She says "My Jake". I know because my mate is called Jacob (Jake) and I first went to see it with him and a bunch of other friends. His GF brought it up after the movie, and mentioned how she turned and looked over at him when Neytiri said it lol. All of us remembered it from the film.

Well at least in the script, there was a scene where the Na'vi trashed the human machines and destroyed, the AMP suits, etc after the humans bulldozed the first set of White trees.

But...that's completely realistic. It's not about him being White, it's about him being human/military, and the Na'vi needing to know what Jake knows because of it. Bear in mind, were it not for the inside knowledge Jake obtained from the scientist, the Na'Vi would have been slaughtered.

I hate it when journalists get caught up in the politics of it all. Wish they'd review the fucking movie and not their own political take or agenda. I mean seriously, the number of negative reviews I've seen bang on about it's anti war message or anti-American message, some saying it's racist and others going on about the gross cost of the film. Quite frustrating.

It was at a standoff of sorts with only small skirmishes up until Jake's arrival.

What would the writer have said if Jake were Latino?.

Bear in mind, the Na'vi were getting along just fine before the other humans (some of which were White) arrived.

I'm trying to hold back bile as I imagine a Halloween scenarios filled with overweight Neytiris.

If we get one 1 sexy
totally naked
Neytiri for every 20 overweight Neytiris I'd I call it a success.

Anyway, on page 57 of the 2007 script.
LOVING it so far.

Gonna watch it for the second time next week. Will make sure not to sit as far back as I did the first time, while the 3D effect was very impressive, everytime your sight hit the black borders of the screen and beyond it kinda pulled you out of the experience.

Can't wait!

Hmm, I really like Trudy and Norm doin' it.
Hope that makes into whatever extended cut we see.

"Norm's attitude has improved lately." :D

I still don't get why the bond tendril thing is in their hair.
It's not "in their hair". It's the same sort of tentacle thing that the horses and banshees have; the Navi only have one. They grow their hair long and braid it around the tentacle for fashion and for protection.

Is this seriously "true" though?
I mean, it makes sense. I've just never heard this explanation before.

Update:
At the part where Grace is explaining what happened when "she got too close" christ man, I would have eaten this shit up.
I hope they do something crazy with the BRD release. I WANT THE 4 HOUR VERSION NOW.
And a limited theater release.

It's not our world. And we can't stop whats coming.
:[

The 8PM showing I'm attending in Roppongi Hills in Tokyo, where the Japan Debut was held, is sold out. It's a Friday night, but there are three screens running the movie with a fourth dedicated to the 2D version.

EDIT: Holy shit at that picture above :lol :lol :lol

All the cut Grace scenes are sorely missed...almost wish I hadn't read this script :lol

Jake Gyllenhaal would've worked well. He can be a pretty charismatic actor.

Though I don't know if his battle cry matches up to Worthington's.

Regarding the hair thing, which animal on Pandora has feathers?

The Hammerheads and the deer things have those weird things on top, but they don´t really look like feathers and the colours are wrong compared to the fletching on Na´vi arrows.

Maybe I didn´t look hard enough, even more reason to see it a third time :D

Edit: The German voice over says "Mein Jake" = "My Jake" as well. The whole VO cast was surprisingly good, btw, even the "like a baby" scene was good.
