I don´t really care what Cameron does next as long as it involves mind-blowing action. Not sure if I´d be happy with the Hiroshima movie, but hey, he made 10 foot tall cat people incredibly cool. I´ll never doubt this mofo again. But Avatar 2 or BA still sound better to me.

Just finished watching Titanic to celebrate it's passing of the torch to Avatar.
It's pretty low on my Cameron list, only above True Lies. That's not saying much though, it's still on my top 30 favorite movies, along with the rest of Cameron's films.
The thing I took away from it this time is how damn important music is. It really saddens me how Horner dropped the ball with Avatar. The score is good, but it's not Titanic good or Breavheart good. I can't imagine how much more powerful Avatar would've been with an amazing soundtrack.

LTTP: Seeing Avatar.
Some musings:
I saw it in RealD format. While there was some jankiness (ghosting occasionally, some blurriness in action sequnces), it was overwhelmingly awesome.
I found that the most impressive 3-D stuff was the interiors of buildings and ship cockpits (with some notable mentions for Pandora jungle exterior shots). I can see why this movie is doing gangbusters.
The CG was amazing, though some of the creatures and the robot suits were pretty noticeably fx shots. The Na'vi, though. Wow. I forgot they were CG about five minutes after first seeing them. Amazing work.
The story was pretty standard, but like all great fairy-tales, it is timeless. Will watch again...and maybe again.
Now I am excited about the possibility of full 3-D video games.

OK, so, when did Titanic's worldwide record fall? During the weekend most sites were reporting Avatar was $2 million behind, and Boxofficemojo reported $1.836 billion, or about $6 million behind, as expected, given their constant 4.x difference.
However, now that they have actuals, they're saying 1.838, or about 2 million more... which, added up to what the other sites were reporting before, could make the difference.
So, Sunday, or Monday?
