I can't wait to see what technical improvements are made for Avatar 2. I hope it's shot in 48fps like Cameron wants. :D

Fuck you! I want Battle Angel so fucking bad it hurts.

I really don't get why. Then again I don't give a rat's ass about the anime/manga it is based on.

Avatar 2 ftw bitches.

I've never read the manga. But yeah, Cameron returning to R-rated, post-apocalyptic sci-fi set in the future, with his new mastery of the tools he's used for AVATAR and the scope he shoots his films in these days. Man it would be something special.

It would also be the perfect go-between with AVATAR. One is creating lush, naturally created worlds, where one is a ruined, technologically advanced mechanized world.

I see it less as a manga adaptation and more of the fact that it's a futuristic cyborg action adventure helmed by James Cameron.

Now that gets my pants tingling.

Battle Angel next, please.

Cameron should use the capital he has gained from Avatar to make an R rated Battle Angel. Then go back to Avatar 2 (a guaranteed megahit) afterwards.

Then he'd have his two trilogies running simultaneously, which is something he has talked about before.

And everyone who hasn't read the manga...doing so got me so fucking excited for this project.

I have been saying this for so, so long. It just makes sense.

I know it's a dumb question, but I'm not really informed when it comes to bluray or dvd formats

I can't play the DVD of the Bluray/DVD version on a dvd player?

The answer is within the question.

You can play the DVD version in a dvd player or even a blu-ray player, but you cannot play the blu-ray disc in a dvd player.

The blu-ray version comes bundled with a regular dvd version of the movie on another disc.

Many thanks :D

I avoided all the spoilers and this thread until I finally watched the blu-ray this week. I loved it and it was the best video transfer I've ever seen on disc. I've actually watched it twice and I really think it's going to be one of those movies that I watch multiple times. I was amazed at the world they were able to create and how realistic it looked to me. Good job James Cameron and company.

The six bonus tracks are terrible. They're like synth versions. I'm not sure whose idea it was to release an "extended" soundtrack which is actually just the same as the regular version but with a small selection of unreleased tracks in Playstation 1 era quality but they shouldn't be allowed to make any kind of decisions ever again, for anyone else or themselves.

I should clarify. At least, the Quaritch fight track is. Haven't heard the others myself but I read impressions of the other tracks that said virtually the same thing. I have the actual orchestral versions of most of those tracks and believe me, there's an obvious difference in quality to say the least. Very disappointing that they'd do that.

If it's not R-rated, he just shouldn't bother. The violence in the manga is an inherent part of the characters. PG13 would be like making a WWII with puppies and rainbows instead of Nazis and bullets.

You really can't tell the synthesized sheen? That particular sample happens to play during a part where it isn't as super evident, but trust me, it's there. Like I said I have the actual, orchestral version that was used in the film and it's impossible to not notice the difference.

the youtube link is missing one of the guitar sounding riffs, other than that I dont hear much difference, other than the overall sound quality :\

Actually, the 2 pieces kind of dont match overall

They're both from the same scene. The Youtube link I posted is the actual music straight from the scene. The "deluxe" soundtrack is a digitized synth version of it. If you listen you can tell the difference between live instruments and their electronic counterparts presented on the deluxe soundtrack. Just saying, if you can't tell that much of a difference then obviously it's not a big deal to you, but you can find a proper 3-disc (think there's even a 5-disc too) extended version of the score online.

Listening to it more, the youtube version does sound more "live"

and I suppose the varying composition kinda makes it obvious that its a recreation, and not the real thing.

Wierd, wonder why they did that.

Also, I just read about the 5 disc coming soon. Hopefully that has a ton of unreleased music.

Saw it on Blu ray tonight, beautiful truly stunning. As for Battle Angel, I thought he said something about doing The Dive first. Last I heard Battle Angel might not start up until after Avatar 2 is done, but who knows, Cameron is finicky as hell when it comes to picking projects.

Because they can get away with it. They do sound very close and a lot of people won't pick up on the difference. Just ticks me off, extended film scores are an extreme rarity so to finally see one and discover that it's only a few select tracks and not even the actual cues used in the film is a slap in the face to buyers.

Watched it last night..

Visuals and editing was done really well, but just about everything else was pretty bad. Damn sheeple hyping this up for no reason was beyond true from the start.
