"Hell yeah!"

:D

I laughed so hard at that hell yeah in the extended version :lol

I wonder why they cut that, we found that hilarious.

The Hot Toys Jake collectible should be revealed later this week. Here's a preview:

Its based on the War version. The thing looks huge as hell, and supposedly its 1/6th scale, so it should be around a Foot and a half. I'm sure it will cost over $250...

I just finished the deleted scenes on the Collector's Edition Blu-ray, and I can't believe they didn't finish, and add some of those scenes into the Collector's Extended Version. Scenes like....

- We're Buying Time
- The Dreamhunt
- The Challenge
- You're A Long Way From Earth
- The Avatars Attack

....are so good, and add a lot of weight behind certain lines of dialogue, or certain scenes that WERE left in, or put back into the Extended Version. The 3 hour cut is still the best IMO, but an extra 20-25 minutes of these scenes would've made it even better.

The movie could easily be another 30-40 minutes long.

Most of the Avatar deleted scenes dont feel like deleted scenes to me, most of them feel like moments or scenes that are missing, if that makes any sense.

Like, I don't think I could ever watch the movie again and not notice the huge gaping hole left by the exclusion of the Dreamhunt.

Yep.

I'm really hoping that Cameron doesn't short-change either one of the sequels simply for the fact that he has to make two of them. I could see him making them shorter, rather than going all out if he had just on sequel to worry about.

I'm sure they will both be at least 150 minutes each.

If Cameron was splitting one long story in two, that would be a worry, but he isn't.

Yeah, theres no way the sequels will be lower budgeted than the original.

500-600 Million for both movies seems more likely

I just realized... if Jake does have a child with Neytiri, then he'll have polluted the Na'Vi genetic pool with his human DNA.

Half-human DNA. But the Na'vi traits are most dominant. He might introduce an extra finger though.

Don't forget the eyebrows and the human big toe.
Plus the Avatar queues start at the base of the head rather than the top, for whatever reason.

Is there anyplace you can rent the extended Avatar set? I really want to see the 3 hour cut, and the features sound awesome, but I don't have any desire to own it.

I've never seen a collector's edition of that sort available for rent.

Yeah, I dont think Collector sets are usually available for rent, Ive never seen any, whether it be LOTR or Gladiator, or whatever

I liked the majority of the cut stuff EXCEPT the dreamhunt. I didnt like that at all. But I liked the challenge, liked the stuff with Norm and the pilot, it went a long way to explaining how he went from a jealous douche to all.....calm and shit. And the avatars attack was fucking amazing, cant believe they cut that. Also, I cant remember the name, but the scene where the guy trys to put a stop to the bombing drops. I thought that added so much to his character to see him struggling with that a little more.

Fucking shame they cut those.

You didn't like The Dreamhunt but you liked the extra scenes with Norm? You and I would not get along! :D

I dunno man, I just thought Norm didn't have a significant enough part. I loved all of the extras that added depth to the existing characters in the movie. Seeing more from Selfridge, watching him battle with the idea of the attacks, watching and seeing Norm finally explode after all of the years of training and preparation only to be replaced.

Shit if it weren't for those deleted scenes I wouldn't have known that they were prepping Norm for possibly becoming the new Liaison between the Humans and the Natives. Just that small section of dialog with Grace adds meaning to Norm getting so pissed off that Jake ended up being the one the Na'vi went with. I could at least believe he all of a sudden 'got over it' if he was getting a hot piece of tail on the side out there in the hallelujah mountains :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

Norm was an annoying wanker.

The only cut scene that was Norm-centric that I would have preferred is the one when Waynefleet mows his stupid face down with the AMP suit's gun.

Agree to disagree lol. One of the things about the movie I just didnt buy was the pilot walking willingly into pretty much assured death by breaking them out of the cell and flying them out. Sure she seemed cool with them, but having her go that far seemed a bit of a stretch. After the deleted scenes, I bought her going that far.

False. The very fact that James Cameron wants to make the sequels is because they did enormous amount of flora and fauna - details to the world of Pandora. Due that he can make same movie without sacraficing 200$ Million Budget.

The assets are there. The quality stays same. I can see them build few more creatures and the entire underwater scene. Maybe even Earth locations.

They can make both movies using 200$ Million Dollars or 150$ Million Each without losing much quality.

Even still even with assets and basic stock footage making CGI is a pain in the ass. You need very special and VERY powerful computers to do movie quality CGI, and it's a painstakingly slow process. Shit costs money. 250 million at the very least.

Boxing day in Canada is coming up. I might very well have a Blu-Ray player by Sunday, which means I'll finally have (if stock is available) the Avatar extended edition. I have refused to buy that shit in DVD. ü

you are saying that as if you exlude payment to all those animators, modellers, actors, makeup artists, camera assistants, camera crews, security, concept artists, asset builders, set usage, stunt actors, sound crew and many more.

But say they refilm the movie. They will render the scenes. What makes you think reshooting Avatar would still costs as much money as it did? It's not the rendering process. Pre-Production can be a bitch too. They can now conserve in that area. That's gonna spare them money.

raphier, making a movie isn't the same as making a game. Its not a case of 'Oh we have the assets and engine from the last movie, next one on the cheap!'

If you think Cameron will restrict himself to the environments he's already built for the first film, outside of the water scenes, you're very mistaken. The biggest benefit of having done the first movie already is that they can use the same facial rigs created for the actors, which each took crazy amounts of time and effort to make.

Just saw the 40mins extended cut and ... it's like I'm watching a totally different movie. This explains so much and have very critical scenes which I'm surprised they cut out.

It's one way to get people to see the extended cut in cinemas and buy the Blu-Ray.
