Have you watched the extended yet, Ghal? You seem to be taking your sweet ass time. :lol
Nope! I didn't unwrap it until Christmas.

And now that I have....I need to pick up an HDMI cable. :lol

I'll probably snag one tonight, and watch the extended (extended) cut tnis weekend.

I just saw Avatar 3D on my friend's TV and goddamn that thing looked just ridiculously beautiful. And it seemed to be sharper than on theater. He also changed his TV settings to something I forgot and the colors got so much brighter and colorful.

Now I need to save some money.. :(

I keep watching the final battle and keep thinking "Man, if we had Scorpions, AMP suits, Dragons, and Samsons, we'd beast in Afghan and Iraq."

Love the designs of the Human weapons

The Dragon Gunship is by far my favourite.

Not just the design, but the way it maneuvers in the film. Its pure awesome.

Valkyrie Shuttle would probably be my runner up fave. Amazing design.

Watched the extended collectors cut over Christmas and god damn this film is beautiful, even in 3D. Pretty much every shot is a marvel in aesthetics.

Unfortunately it still didn't detract from the painfully generic pilot woman and the god-awful one-liners.

However, overall the good outweighs the bad and I enjoyed it. School scene and Bar scene were great inclusions. Can't really remember what else significant was added, any help?

The other most significant bits are:

- The hunt action scene after the Banshee training
- The Na'vi killing the Miners and soldiers and the fallout of that leading to the attack on hometree
- Jake mercy killing Tsu'Tey after the final battle

And there are a bunch of other extensions, newly added bits here and there.

If you haven't checked out the deleted scenes yet, most of them are very much worth watching

Ahhh, Tsu'Tey's scene was a biggy.

The behind the scenes stuff on the second disc are awesome too. Not as good as LOTR Extended Editions (which I hold at the top of the making-of spectrum), but still very interesting.

I just watched the rest of the delete scenes. WHY Cameron. WHY! Dammit, that shit should've been in the theatertical version. Like when Quaritch took over Hell's Gate. His face when he grabs Parker is scary as shit.

Srsly. Cameron should have taken another cue from Dances with wolves. The DWW extended cut is 50 minutes longer, this should have been too :lol

Does that mean no New Zealand shooting?

Who knows. But it would solve my query with how the hell they were going to do it in NZ with The Hobbit movie shooting through 2012 and 2013. I'm sure WETA will still handle post.

I would guess that that studio will be for the Motion capture filming, and the live action filming will be done in New Zealand, like in the first movie.

I wonder what Cameron's ambitions are for his studio 10+ years from now...

Cameron has joined Twitter!

It's about time...I hope he keeps with it, could be really interesting.

All my tweets go through several drafts, with new scenes next year RT @FredTopel: @JimCameron Will there be a director's cut of your tweet?
:lol

Btw, Cameron held an event for the guys at Weta earlier this week in New Zealand looking forward to working on Avatar 2 and 3. I hope Cameron will have Weta Workshop involved in the design phase from the start, unlike Avatar 1 where he already had a design team, before the Workshop got involved in the design and world building phase.

Speaking of Cameron. Here are more details on Cameron's Lightstorm expansion.

http://www.ecorazzi.com/2011/01/29/james-camerons-lightstorm-entertainment-studio-gets-green-light/
The future home of Pandora’s creators has been given the green light to move ahead — and by all accounts, it appears that it will be an impressive HQ.
The 92,000 square-foot project is slated for a business park in Agoura Hills, CA — and is being described as the new site for “Avatar” director Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment studio by the developer.

According to sources, a planning commissions signed off on the site of the studio; which will include 40,000 square feet of office space in an existing building, as well as a new 52,000-square foot stat-of-the-art building featuring blue screens, wires and pulleys, and live action sets for actors and filmmakers to capture movement.

“Avatar 2 and 3 are going to be happening in this building. This is probably some of the most technologically advanced studio filming that will be done,” architect Brian Poliquin said. “The future studio building along with video game developer THQ, which is already on site, is going to turn the whole area into a digital entertainment campus.”

As the project is currently in early development, it remains to be seen how Cameron will apply his environmental cred to the new studio. The existing building can certainly be retrofitted to be more green — but I would expect nothing but the highest LEED standards for the new one. There exists a real opportunity here for the 56-year-old director to create a model sustainable studio unlike anything else currently out there.

:D :D :D :D :D

Its not dead motherfuckers! Battle Angel LIVES.

http://collider.com/battle-angel-james-cameron/73916/

Collider: Hey, is Battle Angel still happening?

Cameron: I’m obviously going to be pretty busy for the next five years [with Avatar 2 and 3]. And so I had to consider, do I hand this project off to another director? And then I thought, ‘No, I love it too much.’”

I’m not a big fan of Manga but I read all of those books. My favorite was the love story in part two and the death games in the 3rd and 4th. Which of the stories are you going to do?

Cameron: It’s such a rich world. What I’m going to do is take the spine story and use elements from the first four books. So, the Motorball from books three and four, and parts of the story of one and two will all be in the movie.

Cool, I’m really excited for that.

Cameron: Me too.

I'm sure my happy tears taste just as salty as Dan's sad ones.

By the way Solo, did you watch the extended edition yet?

Nope. Calender year 2011 sometime, though! Been trudging through a backlog of games, then I'll turn to my backlog of Blurays, lolz.

Finally got around to watching the blu-ray Extended/Collector's edition last weekend. Great HD transfer and DTS audio track. I'd consider it demo-material.

EDIT: Reading up a the page a big.....I guess I'll watch the deleted scenes soon. They sound interesting.

“For ‘Avatar 2,’ what I’m most interested in is getting theaters to up their light level,” Cameron told Speakeasy in an interview Saturday in Los Angeles, Calif. “And we want to shoot the movie at 48 or maybe even 60 frames a second, and display it at that speed, which will eliminate a lot of the motion artifacts that I think are causing some people problems.”

Good to hear he's going to campaign for theatres to up their light levels, on top of the new frame rate.

Unfortunately, after the 9.0 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Japan, that region will continue to experience aftershocks for years to come. It's so bad that Cameron and the other divers simply can't be insured. All this on top of the original risk of diving to the deepest part of the world.

Nobody is sure what the solution is, but Cameron will likely have to find another place to risk his life.

Arnold will play an avatar. However, after Jake defecting to the Navi, mankind has decided that they can no longer leave the avatar project in the hands of men who are prone to changes of heart. So the process gets computerized. Arnold plays an early generation cyber intelligence avatar, codename T-800.
