How the fuck do you go from writing on MadTv to being very close to being the helm of Akira?! Congrats on Jordan regardless.
Can't be accused of white washing if the director is black and the cast is likely racially diverse
Glad to see Jordan getting recognition.
I hope this is sarcasm.Give it to an Asian director, you pastey old assholes
He's going to turn it down.
Right?
Watch The Rock getting cast as the colonel. It has The Rock in it, so it's literally bigger.
Thank goodness. If you go by some of his interviews, he has basically said that he wants to stick to these four or five original ideas he's got rattling in his head.
I sincerely doubt it would matter even if he were. If the studio wants white actors, they'll ship around until they find a director who will run with their vision, not the other way around.WAIT FOR SOMEONE BESIDES THE TRACKING BOARD TO REPORT ON THIS
That said... interesting choice, if its actually the case (iiiiiffffff)
Question being: Would Peele be the one to say "Look - this is a story about Japanese culture, starring Japanese people, set in a post-apocalyptic Japan.
I'm not putting Dane De-fucking-Haan in my Akira movie."
IS HE THAT DUDE.

How upset would people be if Kaneda and Tetsuo were cast with Black actors?

Others are backing the rumor, which is still a rumor, that if Peele wants it it's his.
This kinda says that it matters then, doesn't it?

I'd rather he not get tied down with a sinking ship.
Are other backing or are they just reposting?
It's possible but I doubt it.If the studio had a vision the movie would have been made years ago. You just don't randomly pick Jordan Peele to follow a vision. There's a good chance they want HIS vision.
Honestly dude we probably don't know anything about Jordan Peele. I still don't know how he made Get Out.Can he do action?
I don't know about this.

If the film is working from the graphic novel, there's more chances at action.
But if you're the kind of director that has a solid sense of framing, of pacing, and knowing how to draw a person's eye to exactly you want focused on in a frame, chances are you could direct an effective action scene. You don't have to go to Cameron boot camp or whatever to get it down. In the end, it's stil pointing a camera at something and capturing its energy.
A lot of being a successful director is making sure you hire a support system and collaborators who are better than you at the things you need to be great at.
Hollywood practically never cares about what Asians think beyond pandering to Chinese markets when possible.I like the implication that big budget movies lack a shred of social-conscious.
