They think they care about that, but they don't know, they really don't!They made it multitouch?
(but honestly, how many games are currently utilizing multi-touch vs those utilizing precise input of the games used on DS?)

Seriously Nintendo... where the hell is my octogonal gate?

Dead forever. Rejoice.
Agreed. It'll be interesting to see how they feel.Should we? If they end up like the PS3 sticks (which suck ass) we should be weeping instead of rejoicing. Being like 360 sticks is acceptable, however.
You think they want reminders of the GC around? They killed support for GC out of the newer Wii models and Wii U won't even play GC games unless you buy them again digitally :/

Would ditching the octagonal gates makes playing Smash Bros. harder?
If you use up to jump maybe. I was a button-jumper, but I always had difficulty pressing up to jump and used the corner as a guideWould ditching the octagonal gates makes playing Smash Bros. harder?

By the way, is there any technical reason there has to be a half-inch of space all around the screen? It seems they could shave a 3/4 of an inch by moving the d-pad and buttons closer to that screen.
I say it each time I see it, but that screen is beautiful.
I hope wireless Gamecube controllers work on the Wii U... Don't know how I would play Smash without it.![]()
we really dodged a bullet here. thank godimagine if we actually had to use circle pads on a home console for the next 6 years.
there's no GC portsI hope wireless Gamecube controllers work on the Wii U... Don't know how I would play Smash without it.![]()
You played the first one with a 64 controller, I'm sure you can adjust to the new controller.
What my brother said. The less like a PS3 this controller is other than Sony's marvelous D-Pad, the better.
After like 5,000 hours of SSBM on a Gamecube controller? Not really.
It's like you've never played a game on another system before...
The D-pad of the dualshock sucks too... the only good d-pad on a Sony console is the Vita one.
"sucks" is the wrong word, as the dualshock d-pad is quite responsive.
let this please be the end of motion+ zeldas.
I've never played another game for even a fraction of the time I've spent with SSBM so it's not really comparable.
Don't know if this has already been suggested, but I'm guessing the square beneath the dpad is maybe similar to a trackpad on a Blackberry? -

Would make internet browsing etc far easier
Keep playing Melee then. Some of us aren't so afraid to try something new.
But we have a giant touch screen with a stylus.
Creates a holographic Iwata laughing at you!

I wonder how it'll look next to my iPad's 2048x1536 IPS display.
Your iPad has a pixel density of 264 according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_displays_by_pixel_density1080p at 60": 37
DSi XL: 76
Game Boy: 83
DSi: 98
1080p monitor at 21.5": 102
DS & DS lite: 107
3DS bottom screen: 124
PSP: 128
3DS top screen: 132
iPad 2: 132
PSP Go: 145
Wii U controller: 158 (assuming it's 854x480 at 6.2")
iPhone: 163
Vita: 221
iPhone 4: 326
OK, I had a late night, it's early....I don't know why I even suggested that, lol.
Maybe it could have a use with....erm....
Ok, I'll shut up now.
Yeah but it destroys your thumb if you play a fighting game with it for more than an hour.
Biggest news of the thread:
Two Upads can connect to the console.
Two pads >>>>>>>>>> 1 pad
4 pads while nice, is not as big a deal as just having 2 over one. So this pleases me greatly.
Boxes for my WiiU purchase are starting to get checked... just a few more to go.

If they used a symbol it should be the official NFC logo:I really think its just a painted on symbol for nfc. Probably to be replaced later with something like radiating circles.

I'm sure it'll look fine
D-Pads have been that way since the beginning of time, barring the Saturn pad.
But they could just make a Gamecube controller.
