Rumor: Quantum Break delayed to early 2016

I'm also expecting Tomb Raider and Star Wars Battlefront to be delayed.

No way either of them will be delayed, but if you put a gun to one of them's head, it'll be Tomb Raider.

Microsoft will be desperate to have that go up against Uncharted 4, but Star Wars absolutely, positively won't be delayed. They will get to this Holiday season dying, having to push a Star Wars game - through high hell and the mightiest of seas - out so close before the next Star Wars film.

So no, neither of them won't be delayed. But whatever happens to Tomb Raider, Star Wars absofuckinglutely won't be.

Definitely seems to still be a full blown show. They've been shooting in Atlanta for almost a month now.

They clarified after they reveal and again last year that it's not a show.

You play a section of the game and unlock a section of live action video ( Remedy once described it as something you could skip entirely or watch while grabbing a quick drink).

You play until something called a junction in time happens , you make a decision and they you get to see a section on video based on that decision.

It's only hoarding if the games are ready to release.

Master Chief Collection is only just 'ready for release'.

Really don't see why they didn't delay it. But that horrible experience does make almost happier about a game being delayed. There may be issues right now, but they'll have time to get everything right.

why would this, coming from official channels, be construed as "likely" to be delayed?

Don't you dare even joke about that.

Regarding QB, I am just fine with that. I would much rather wait for a game to be complete so I can actually play it when it's released.

2016's "The Order" coming right up...

Joke post?

Quantum Break has gameplay, isn't QTE heavy, and isn't cut scene heavy. I expect the gameplay to be similar to Alan Wake.

If you meant in terms of review scores than no....

Remedy is proven and knows that they are doing

After thinking about it the lineup for the XOne this year is shockingly weak. Just three big games for the entire year or am I mistaken?! let's hope there is a collection for Gears coming this year

Halo, Tomb Raider, Forza.

Most likely one or two AAAs that have not been announced yet. Just depends on if you like the games or not.

The lineup isn't looking too hot.

I don't understand how Halo 5, Forza 6, rise of the tomb raider, Fable legends and some sort of remastered gears collection aren't good enough for some people (along with third party games).

There's more then enough for me to play there.

So besides QTEs, it's not likely to be all that far removed from The Order then?

That's good for you, but I'd have to concur with that looking like a terrible lineup that's supposed to justify ownership of an Xbox One this year.

If you have to include F2P games then that should be a clear warning sign the line up is lacking if nothing else.

My understanding is that the junction point is a gameplay segment where you play as the game's villian and you pick the way the story is going to play out and then you jump into a episode of the show that plays out those choices that leads into the next chapter of the game.

Game chapter > Junction point > Tv episode > Restart the loop

A friend of mine told me that he is going to postpone his Xbone purchase because of this delay, if true.

I told him that it's a good time to buy either console, but he is convinced that is not.

He even hinted that he can consider buying other console in the meantime.

Don't forget indies and the possibility of some surprise e3 announcements. Personally, I think this year is going to be excellent.

Yeah but Fable is the only game that'll release in the next 7 months.

The same reasons Xbox caught a lot of flack the later years of the 360's life :

A Halo sequel
Another Forza sequel
Another Fable game
Another Gears game.

I realise that it's probably really perfect for a lot of people , but it's a *really* boring and uninspiring for those who were hoping for a little more diversity from MS with the X1.

Thankfully the 3rd party lineup for this year is really strong.

He said in the Kotaku interview that the "episode" would change dependant on the players choice during the junctions, it seems unlikely they are shooting multiple full length episodes for these choices. We had a massive thread about this before and the consensus was we were looking at maybe 10 minute episodes or there abouts.

How long are you expecting these episodes to be ?

Agreed. Forza 6, Halo 5, Tomb Raider, 2-3 other bigger retail console exclusive games + indies/digital games + multiplats all make 2015 a very solid year for the Xbox One. Just as good as 2014, if not better (due to indies games finally coming out on a regular basis now).

It still bothers me how Microsoft back-loads all of their games to the Holidays. I wonder if it's unintentional or by design.

Even without Quantum Break, Microsoft's holiday line-up is still absolutely stacked and this coming from a PlayStation guy.

They have Halo and Forza, two of their flagship franchises that are both almost guaranteed to be great (whether long-time fans warm up to Halo 5 remains to be seen but objectively, it will be good). Then they're publishing the sequel to one of last generation's biggest surprises in Tomb Raider. Shinobi has been teasing some kind of Gears remaster or collection and there will probably be some downloadable games of note. That's a strong line-up if I've ever seen one folks.

This whole "it doesn't appeal to me so it sucks" attitude is silly and toxic. I'm sorry if you aren't excited for these but that's why third party games exist!

As for Quantum Break's alleged delay, I'm all for it. Delays are good and Q1/Q2 are proving to be great times to release games; especially new IPs.

considering how big a year it is shaping up to be for 3rd parties I would not mind if QB slips to early 2016. I am going to be passing up on a ton of games at launch the back half of this year that would have been day 1 buys last year.

I'm actually tired of Halo and Gears so it'll just be Forza and TR for me which is weak but my wallet is pleased.

What? In Alan Wake, the flashlight system, dodge mechanics, and other puzzles you did were cool. How is that anything like the Order?

Edit: oh you didn't like Alan Wake that explains it.

What PS4 game from E3 2013 hasn't released? I can only think of Deep down, which isn't published by Sony.

He said "announced way too early", which I was agreeing with. For example, Shadow of the Beast, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Rime and Gravity Rush 2. Even recently Helldivers came out and was first revealed at Gamescom 2013, as I recall. Considering Arrowhead said it was in development for about 2 years, that means it was first shown after being in development for about 6 months, which is way too soon. Similarly, The Order was shown at the PS4 reveal and only just released, almost exactly two years later. Both Sony and MS have both been guilty of this so far this gen,and personally I hate early reveals and protracted hype periods.

Well, last year Titanfall was the biggest game they had for the first half.

I'm assuming they felt that MCC would still help them for the low console selling months of 2015 (without knowing the collection would have so many issues though obviously).

I could definitely see Quantum Break being an early 2016 game if it gets delayed and in that case it would be similar to the PS4 for this year -- the PS4's lineup for this year wouldn't have looked as well rounded if The Order didn't get delayed.

Overall though, they definitely care far more about the Holiday season since that's when they get a huge portion of sales.

Remember guys, it's pre-season.We won't get any new exclusives before Fable Legends comes out. Unless they pull a Entwined moment at E3.
