To be fair, Returnal on PC didn't really come out at the best time. There was too much hype going on at the time for Hogwarts Legacy when it came out. Other games were making rounds like Wild Hearts and Atomic Hearts and they came out around same week.(Not so bold) prediction: it will flop like Returnal, if not worse.
I don't think too many people would switch to a pc and the Pc owners who also have a PS only for the exclusives aren't the customers Sony wants. But i'm very sure day1 Pc releases would multiply their pc sales-They're not going to disrupt their software sales for consoles that gets consumers in to their PSN ecosystem, by providing the game on two different store fronts day 1, unless its F2P.
Business wise, it only makes sense for ps5 at full price, wait for a sale, or buy it on pc at 50.00$ after 2 years. Getting someone to buy the game on ps5/psn at release, is much more valuable than getting a few extra discount sales on PC, where Sony gets even less because those mtx wont be coming though PSN.
I'd like to see Demon's Souls on PC and eventually GoW Ragnarok. Was hoping for GoT lol but oh well. Bloodborne would still be THE game people want on PC though, but it looks less and less likely unless Sony does a proper remaster or remake.q
PC’s have more RAM, they can probably run it fine.Several interesting things:
1. This is the poster child for the PS5's SSD, isn't it? Will be interesting to see how it fares on a regular SATA SSD or even an HDD.
2. I love the R&C series and haven't played this one. However, I've heard it's the weakest entry since the 2016 reboot. Any truth to that?
3. I'm hyped for this but was expecting Ghost of Tsushima first. This would be much more successful but by the sound of it, Nixxes is handling PS5 ports. So far they've done Spider-Man and Returnal. Next on the list is R&C. I'm guessing another studio like Jetpack Interactive will do the PC port of GOT if there is one (which I believe there is).
I know this is a joke but TLOU part 1 has an SSD as a min requirement and 16GB of RAM. Expect the same here. Can’t be done, no magic ssd.
This was always the case. The hammer hitting the crystals to do that half second transition is probably the fastest transfer of data in the game. With enough RAM you could just have the two worlds loaded already before you even hit it.Didn't someone in here say that with enough RAM on PC you'd be able to load levels like in R&C? Versus streaming the assets in... or something.
A good strategy would be to time the late PC and PS+ release. Time that second wind sales push to be together. That way the buzz from PS plus release might result in the extra word of mouth for PC sales or vice versa PC release word of mouth might make some sign up to PS+ to play it.This game might need Direct Storage to be able to function, not just Nvme
They should definitely add this game to PS Plus by the way
Traditional data streaming method might work on Sata drive, but expect stutter in intense scene transition sequence
You must be super fun at parties.i would definitely buy it day as I was one of the first to call BS on SSD “ secret sauce “ when you can clearly see each trick used for every portal . I would gladly pay $70 for that “ told you so “ lol

I hate how bland they turned Ratchet personality wise.
You definitely got that right, none of these companies are loyal to anyone not even their own partners so why waste ones time playing cheerleader.According to Bryank75 Jim Ryan is stupid because Sony is putting out their titles on PC. He believes it drags down the value of the PS5 and only people who buy PS5 should be allowed to play these games. Meanwhile, those who spend $1000 or even more on their PCs let alone $1600 just for a GPU are scum of the industry and are ruining the gaming industry for him because they now can also play God of War. Basically mentally ill nonsense. Not a true gamer and is constantly posting mental gymnastics about who should be allowed to play and who isn't. Quite entertaining, sad and pathetic all at same time. These are just video games...who gives a shit who gets to play what, who and where and when lol.
Typical fanboy/warring type stuff. Nothing good.
I don't understand how hard it is just to enjoy the games man and be happy that others get to play great titles along with you and share same experiences. This whole "I bought a X system for $500 or whatever dollars and only I should have access to X Y Z games because I spent my hard earned money and no one else!" mentality is extremely childish.
Basically PC gamers = bad and ruining everything for everyone is what he genuinely believes. I will never understand this. None of these companies are loyal to anyone. Every corporation wants your money so they will find ways to do it
But to summon it up in TLDR - Yes console war stroking threads/posts.
Well all it really boils down too is purely insecurity. The buyer wants to believe that he or she made the right choice purchasing a product from a X company for Y price and that whatever this product offers is exclusive to them and only to them. You definitely got that right, none of these companies are loyal to anyone not even their own partners so why waste ones time playing cheerleader.
Years late and on 10x more expensive hardware.PC players keep winning
People are willing to buy more than 1 game. Remember 360? We had whole year worth of gaming in every month back then and it was still selling. To be fair, Returnal on PC didn't really come out at the best time. There was too much hype going on at the time for Hogwarts Legacy when it came out. Other games were making rounds like Wild Hearts and Atomic Hearts and they came out around same week.
Sony didn't really even marketed it that much either. Returnal on PC would have done way better if it released day 1 with the PS5 version in my opinion. Housemarque is not a very well known developer and their titles are kind of niche as well.
2016 game was a terrible disneyified nightmare and a soulless game. Took all the edge off ratchet and the game itself was very simple.

Back then people knew what they wanted more often than they do now. Back then, YouTube wasn't a big thing or twitter. We didn't have any big reviewers, influencers or media people to give previews or early opinions. Games were also cheaper Back then. It was easier to buy multiple games then, than it is now.People are willing to buy more than 1 game. Remember 360? We had whole year worth of gaming in every month back then and it was still selling.
Returnal is hard to advertise. I was few months late buying it on ps5 because it looked meh and it became one of my favs
It was misleading marketing.
At the time Sony promoted 5.5gb/s and Insomniac did a tweet or article saying R&C cant be done without PS5's SSD. So gamers assumed the game needs an equivalent speed SSD to work.
But turns out, Insomniac's statement was simply just using an SSD in general. 5.5 speed not mandatory. And they never clarified that. Instead they let gamers run with it until DF did their tests with slower PC SSDs and it worked fine.
Anyone with common sense could have guessed that there was nothing groundbreaking about the game that it couldn't run slower SSDs, only die hard Sony fanatics were adamant that this was the case. As for devs, these sort of ambiguous and sometimes bizarre quotes are part and parcel at the beginning of every generation, only fanboys buy into that talk. I mean Tim Sweeny said you couldn't run UE5 PS5 tech demo on slower SSD when it was found out later UE5 needs less than 500MB/s to stream data, lol. That was clearly a lie and we should soon find out if what Insomniac said was another one of those lies
and digital foundry's tests were pretty tame.
people have since run the lowest end drives imaginable (cheap ones that don't hit their already low promised speeds) and no game made any issues.
if this comes to PC I am really looking forward to not only play it again, but also try running it on a LITERAL PS4 Pro HDD
Sony dev and the marketing guy for that dev said you mean…. No they would never lie would they…Are you guys joking or serious honest question? The devs themself told DF in the interview that the game is only scratching the I/O of the PS5 and from what i understood there is a lot of performance left on the table. So what's is the idea? The dev says that but you choose to ignore that and say that the game is using the 5.5gb of the SSD? What's not clear about that? If the devs says the game is using all the performance of the ssd and runs on slower ssd or HDD then you guys would have a point but no. What's not clear ahout that? Think about it and change your argumen is not valid.
Do you have proof they lied when they said to DF there was performance left on the table. Please share and i will give you the win.Sony dev and the marketing guy for that dev said you mean…. No they would never lie would they…

That dosen't answer my question. I have +25 years being a lawyer and that dosen't prove anything in the court. I don't care if it runs on HDD when released on PC. The dev said the game is not using the full potential of the SSD.Sure whenever this port is released.
But also being a software dev for nearly 30 years now helps.
Your question is a dumb deflection. Do politicians or marketers ever tell you they lied? That dosen't answer my question. I have +25 years being a lawyer and that dosen't prove anything in the court.
No, i didn't believe them when they said it only ran on ssd or ps5. I'm not asking you if it runs on hdd or whatever you say. If we use Steam user review amount as a metric they fared poorly. 3.8k for Returnal and a paltry 1.4k for Sackboy. 20k ~ 1 million copies.Interesting if true, Id double dip out of curiosity.
Did Returnal and Sackboy sell much anyway from their ports?
That dosen't answer my question. I have +25 years being a lawyer and that dosen't prove anything in the court. I don't care if it runs on HDD when released on PC. The dev said the game is not using the full potential of the SSD.
Winning ports we're not interested in, whereas Demon's Souls is going on its 3rd year in market?
Sure it has sense specially for people who live outisde the USA pc gaming is more expensive. In my country for example a 4090 goes for us$2400 or 2500. The same goes for the other gpu. You take the price difference of the 4090 here and the USA and that's how much extra the hardware cost here. Same applies for cpu and etc. A ps5 disc cost us$610 and the gow bundle $637.At this rate, buying a PS5 has no sense anymore.
I was just checking the list of PS5 games that I have any interest in playing and very few of them are true exclusives.Almost everything on PS5 is either a crossgen game or on PC too with very little true exclusivity...
Also how much RAM does it use (as good or better while using more RAM… yeah kind of expected then ) and how many more months of additional dev time by a PC specialist it required. On top of that the performance of the console I/O solution was not maxed but they did achieve their visual and loading times target (for a next gen looking experience) and yet they were able to keep development times lower: making high performance achievable with a lower cost (Time to Triangle metric gives you an insight on how they approach it) with further performance you can unlock if you need to and have time for going even closer to the metal and implementing more custom solutions was the point of their architecture design. That dosen't answer my question. I have +25 years being a lawyer and that dosen't prove anything in the court. I don't care if it runs on HDD when released on PC. The dev said the game is not using the full potential of the SSD.
I'm just waiting for Demons Souls and I'll have zero reason to get a PS5. VII Rebirth is the only upcoming game I want to play that I'd need a PS5 for....until it comes to PC but I don't know if I can wait.At this rate, buying a PS5 has no sense anymore.

The most popular GPU is the 3060 with 12GB of VRAM.I doubt the majority of pcs have more ram than the ps5.
