as a fan of Spike Lee through the good and the bad, not only do I think this is a HORRIBLE idea, a bad choice of characters, the absolute wrong studio to see this through, but this is definitely not Spike Lee's wheelhouse.

I consider myself a reader of comics and I have never heard of Nightwatch and like some in this thread I read ANT- it has this odd history where the guy who created it made it a sex comic then sold it to Eric Larson.

He doesn't look anything like Spawn to me. Spawn actually looks kinda cool. I didn't start thinking Spawn until I read the description.
Hopefully we are talking total redesign for the movie.
Wiki says his first appearance was in a Spider-Man book, so maybe Sony does have the rights and can make a bootleg punisher movie while they're at it.

I think Lee is a jerk in real life, and he's made a lot of substandard films in the past choice, but if I'm being honest I think he'd be a really interesting choice to film a superhero film, especially if it read "Nightwatch a Spike Lee joint" ha-ha. Nightwatch is one of the last superheroes I want to get a film though, but hey Sony.
It is a RUMOR, so you're free to ignore it, considering that a Nightwatch movie has a strong chance of never getting made IMO.

I appreciate Lee as a director, even if he makes the occasional stinker, but this pairing is all wrong, both for him and for the material. At least it will be interesting, though.
