I don't believe anything this article says after reading that. Nexus phones have always sold off-contract for less than that. The whole point of the Nexus line is to be affordable and contract-free.

i love 5" screens... i'm not sure i can deal with 6" on a phone, even 5" is difficult to use one-handed.

Anyway I have to decide between Nexus X and iPhone 6. Currently using a Nexus 5 but I'm not overly tied to any ecosystem.

Benchmarks showed up of this using a 5.2 in screen. They won't go 5.9 or if they do I'd assume it would be the size of a Note 3 or less.

I think you're thinking of the Moto X. Rumors about the Nexus 6 (rumored to be called the Nexus X) have been that it would have a 5.9" screen for a while now.

As sexy as those specs are, I wouldn't buy a phone that big unless it had a quality stylus so I could use it as an anywhere sketchpad, like with my Note 2. Hopefully they'll release a smaller one as well... but it would need to work on Verizon anyway, so the next Moto X will probably be the phone to replace my recently screen-shattered note 2.

I'll stick with my Droid MAXX for the time being. I'm going to let both my phone and my wife's contract expire this time though and look into an alternative carrier. I'd like to get some of these nice non-subsidized phones off contract.

Nexus 5 was a near perfectly designed phone. Subpar battery life and very subpar camera, but the design was great.

A 5.9 inch screen is completely ridiculous. Knock some of the bezels out, keep it 1080p with a real battery and camera, and we're good. Otherwise I guess it's iPhone time.
