5.9"?! Well it's down too this and the iPhone 6 (4.7"). My family all run with the Apple eco-system so that would be the more logical choice but I can't say the Nexus doesn't sound good.

I noted that last year I bought the Nexus 4 on August 29 so that's the day the price dropped. I guess I need to be ready this week.

I have had every Nexus since the Nexus One and I also had the Note 2. Gotta say, the Nexus 5 is the right size compared to the rest. It just feels right without feeling too big.

5.2 > 5.9

Anyone else burned out on just specs/resolution? I feel like beyond waterproofing a phone and having a significant camera upgrade, there's no incentive to get anything that's coming out.

My M7 chews through whatever is thrown at it smoothly and Boomsound is great. At this point I'd normally be looking for the next big thing, but I don't see any must have features on any of the new phones ;/

Same here. Spec increases do nothing for me. More emphasis on useability and features is what I now focus on.

Yup. For the billionth time - all they need to do is:

- Thin out the bezels a bit to hit that 5.2" screen
- Upgrade the battery
- Upgrade the camera....... a lot.
- Water / dust proof

Done.

Every year people say their current phone size is perfect, yet they still buy the new hotness. Repeat.

peeps keep acting like battery life has been getting worse when it's been getting better every year.

# values battery life
# owns a Nexus 4

lol

That's purely because of the SOC. Old, powerhungry process and Krait 200 cores. The improvement mainly came from 28nm HPM with S800, but when screens got higher res and SOCs didn't get more efficient battery life dropped (LG G3). I think even LG fails to see the improvement 1440p made when they added sharpening. I can see the purpose in VR, but that's not the product I am buying.

The Nexus 5 had a much faster GPU, but that improvement almost dissapeared with the bump in screen res.

I think I'll keep my Nexus 4 for a long time if they keep up with the silly gimmicks. It's already too wide for me in one hand thanks to the 15:9 ratio and my palm keeps touching the sides thanks to the small bezel.

You must mean camera software. HW wise it has the same or better camera than many flagships.

Every year, theres going to be at least someone that thinks X is perfect. And there's always going to be people who's phones are crapping out and they need to replace it, regardless of if its everything they ever wanted or not...

It could be worse, you could still be on the Nexus S like me.

Isn't that like the lowest res pentile screen in a phone? I know it's awful elsewhere, but knowing how bad even the S3 display looks I can't imagine how bad the Nexus S must look.

When I say 720p is enough I of course mean proper 720p with three (large) sub pixels that don't look like dots :P

Whatever you want to say about it. When it was released, it took decent photos but was slow as hell due to reliance on OIS in order to take shots with a slower shutter speed in order to maintain a reasonable ISO level.

Then, they tweaked the software to speed up the shutter - now you take photos a bit faster but they're horrific (1000+ iso is typical compared to the competition at 50-60), and let's not even talk about the frequent inability to focus (or maintain focus).

Try other apps - they function even worse than the stock camera app with the N5. Software, hardware, whatever - the N5 camera performs worse than just about anything released within a year of it (iPhone 5 / 5s, S4, S5, Xperia Z1, probably even the S3, HTC One, etc)

No one said it's getting worse. We're just getting cheated.

Yay your phone lasts 14 hours now instead of 13, just ignore the fact that if we removed half the pixels you wouldn't see a difference and your battery would last 18 hours. Nope, nothing to see here. Next up, 8K screens! Look at us we have more pixels than you!

Yeah the N5 camera is hot garbage, I don't know why anyone would argue otherwise.

Funny they don't show him sitting down or the overall fit of the pants. I wear slim-straight pants and I know for a fact that something that large would not be comfortable, even if it could technically fit inside a pocket.
Try wearing normal pants then.

The issue is AFAIK is in the low level access which apps cannot reach. Hardware wise it has the same sensor size and OIS module as the G3 only with 1.4 micron pixels instead of 1.1.

ISO wise I don't know why some phone sensors have base 100 (possibly to aid in high ISO), but that issue of choosing wrong ISO would be much smaller if the android team dared give us the simplest of manual control.

As an owner of both a Note 3 and Nexus 5 with the Nexus 5 being my primary phone, I'll definitely welcome having a 5.9 Nexus. Unless the Note 3 is huge to you (as in you've played around with one for a bit), it's not as huge as some make it out to be.

Wait...did I say that right?

EDIT: Crappy photo taken from my S3 Mini.

It better come out soon or I ain't biting. My Galaxy Nexus is literally on life support. 5 minutes after I plug out the charger, it is dead. Sometimes it dies while charging.

Galaxy Note 4 baby!

How about battery? They keep pumping the size and the resolution but battery still is shit.

Yeah this. Nexus devices are the early 1990s for phone battery life, and I'll bet my socks this won't have replaceable battery.

Hopefully not much more than 5", 5.2" is probably the largest I would go, otherwise I'll be sticking with the Nexus 5 for another year. 5.9" is absurd.

At first I thought even 5.2" was too big, given my 4.7" HTC One is already pushing it, but then I realized the back and home buttons won't be hardware like my One, so it evens out.

I have large hands, and my thumb barely covers the entire screen as it is!

Edit:

My One has amazing battery life. I'd love if the new Nexus matched or exceeded that.

In rumours I've read 5.2, 5.5 and 5.9 inches. So who fuckin' knows.

Don't think I'd pick up anything over 5.2 though.

I have had Note 2 for almost two years now, and I definitely wouldn't get a bigger phone at least. 5,5" with a small bezel (like LG G3) down to 5,2" would be the ideal screen size for me. You do need to do some finger acrobatics when the phones go near the 6" size. Try taking a photo one-handed with one - it's difficult.

The biggest thing I hope is that the international support is better. I'm going to be in Korea and Japan for the next three years (military) and it would be nice to just have one phone that supports the LTE bands over there and back here in the states.

It's going to be fun to get my nexus 5 to work in Korea and Japan.

Yeah, let's make the screen bigger and higher resolution for little reason when we could actually start getting some decent battery life out of these phones.

1080p @ 5 inches is perfect for phones.

that's half a dozen different people.

but it doesn't work like that anyway.

Goddamn; I was looking forward to getting one to replace my Moto G.

5.9" That's just...delusional.

If it's 5.2", I can live with that.
