Take this with a nice big slug of rock salt, but it seems Factor 5's proposed PS3 launch title
Lair has mole who's been spilling the beans. A recent forum post on PS3Gaming.com sheds some much needed light on the mysterious title, finally giving details on gameplay and some interesting tidbits as to the game's back story:

"The story kind of reminds me of the film “Reign of Fire”, because the idea is that you are fighting the dragon race to reclaim humanity’s place in the world. The dragons are a legendary and extremely old race on this new planet that human kind has populated since the Earth was ravaged by natural disaster. Humans are now a dying breed and you are Michael Desmond who has volunteered to take part in the most massive human campaign to make the last stand against the dragons."

"This is a third-person action adventure game, and it works very well. Dragons cannot be hurt by regular bullets so you have to use different methods to bring them down. You have to kill them by destroying their three hearts. With the merging of mother nature and the mechanics and spirit of humanity this game is one of a kind. The hearts in the dragon we fought could be destroyed when it was distracted (easier said then done), or by going about a stealthy approach."

Sounds kinda like Shadow Of The Colossus on steroids! There's some very exciting talk of open ended gameplay and amazing AI, and of course unbelievable visuals and animation. The scooper does go on mention however that the game is far from finished at the moment with tons of bugs and glitches, and most alarming of all he refers to it as being
"slated for mid 2007", rather being a PS3 launch title which we've been led to believe would occur sometime this spring.

Interesting stuff if indeed true. I like that SotC reference :)

Nice! I'm happy that I see a reference to Reign of Fire in there

:D

If this guy is to be believed though, its to bad that it may be slipping back to 07'. I'm all for it though if it means the game is isn't rushed just to meet launch.

THANK YOU THANK YOU if this is true. I was so hoping this didn't turn out to be just another flying game by F5, except with dragons instead of spaceships.

This sounds false.

But... for a moment...

Comparing it to "Reign of Fire" is not a good sign story wise, 'cause that movie was terrible.

MEEEEEEEH. I thought you were gonna be the dragons, not this shit. Especially doesn't jive with Factor 5's comments about how the dragons are the main character. But I guess it fits with the idea of the title ("LAIR"... as in going into the Dragon's den to defeat it?).

The heart thing though sounds incredibly stupid, but too early to judge that. Dragonheart influence for real though.
