I'm starting to think this too. When people talk about "the edit" someone got on the show, I think this is all part of her story arc. Bob has the personality and humour, but it felt like they were playing down his drag this episode and talking about how amazing Kim is and has blossomed through the show etc, etc. It's definately between those two though, sorry Naomi.
What a strong top 4 though, I really liked Chi Chi, she was in full Tyra Sanchez bloom on the runway this episode.

Kim has talent but I'm starting to have reservations on how much she's been protected. She also needs to tour and be able to dance. Dancing is drag 101 and I need more than that slow type of balled drag lip sync style that Kim reminds me of that I see on sleepy nights at the local drag bar.
Kim makes drag into an art exhibit but Bob and Chi Chi are the type of queens you pay for and bring your friends to see.

Ru wants diversity among winners, Kim Chi is the only one that's way different from past winners. Unfortunately, Bob could be considered way too similar to Bianca and Naomi to Violet. If they want a winner that'll stand out with a unique talent no other winner had, they'd clearly go for Kim Chi.
That said, I think Bob should win, because she's the most well-rounded queen from the entire season.

I would settle for a double crown.
Kim Chi would be a garbage winner. She's lazy, unfunny, awkward as shit, and has displayed no interest in honing her craft outside of the look.
Her look IS polished as fuck, but all she's serving is "Generic Anime Girl." If she infused that more into the performance of her character, I'd be interested. But right now she's just serving Anime Con, and basic Anime Con at that. As Noxima would say: she's giving me "Boy in a Dress." A top-notch drag queen has to be so much more than their aesthetic.
Bob, love her or hate her, is EVERYTHING that drag is. Loud, provocative, smart, hilarious, and sickening.

I disagree that Kim's look is basic. You fucked up on that one IMO.
And yet they are diverse and there is no winner quite like them. Also, Violet didn't really run over the competition, but okay.
What Queen that hasn't won the most challenges has won the crown? Enlighten me.
It doesn't really mean you "run over" anyone, just look at Tyra Sanchez.

Kim winning would be unprecedented for this show and not in a good way. She's not a good queen. Her looks are amazing but add in the other 90% of requirements to being a solid drag queen and she fails miserably. I get that she's charming and sweet but if the whole point of the show is finding the "best" that's out there then why should she be considered over Bob?
She's an instagram queen, nothing more. Ru cleared out the real contenders earlier on so that Bob had a clear path to the crown. I'm not too mad at it though, Bob deserves it at the end of the day and she pretty much ran season 8.

- This season feels so short. I can't believe it's just about over already.
- I was raging about Chi Chi being eliminated, buuuut my bf made me feel better by pointing this out: In the top 3, Chi Chi would never have had a chance of winning, but the elimination puts her in the running for Miss Congeniality. So it's probably the best thing that could've happened at this point.
- Why is there such a big campaign for Cynthia to win Miss C? All I remember is "cucu cucu cucu"; I don't recall any interactions with other queens.
- Despite having just as poor a taste level as the judges accused Chi Chi of, Bob seems to be doing just fine here. Definitely winning.
- Kim Chi's fall. Staged?

- Why no recap episode? And no tic-tac meeting? And why were the queens waving the fabric for the music video? Where are the Pit Crew? Did they have to split the budget between S8 and AS2 or what?
- Still bitter about Kim Chi making it this far despite being a one-note queen who hasn't really shown any growth in her drag over the series. She definitely knows how to play the reality TV game, though.
- The top 4 have a really nice sisterhood going on. I think this and S6 are the only seasons where there hasn't been *any* bad blood between the top 3/4.

Funny enough, I see future of drag when I see Bob. His drag is progressive in a more political way, blurring gender lines and deconstructing drag as an "illusion." There's no separation between Bob The Man and Bob The Drag Queen aside from the clothes and makeup, and that will serve him well as drag becomes more mainstream because his brand is easy to market and understand. I don't doubt that Kim has a huge social media career ahead of her and that's probably why people wanna call her the "future of drag," but the notion that drag is purely a visual medium I think undermines the craft entirely. *cue patriotic music*
Girl I'm still salty that Chi Chi got the boot despite Kim literally falling on her ass in a challenge requiring them to lay down. I'm just imagining her falling out of bed every night. lol

Kim is way more popular than Bob. This would be the first time that the most popular queen doesn't win since CONGRATULATIONS, RAJA.
Bob's humor is a basic version of Bianca. She is more political aware though and that would be a first (Sharon is also very political but not in a very "correctness" way).

Drag isn't all about aesthetics though. As stated before, looks might get you in the door, but it won't keep butts in the seats.

One thing I'd like to add, perhaps to offset opinions regarding her sweetness, is that she is one of the shadiest Queens this season. I don't it's accidental either, because she's very smart and self-aware. Some of her shade/reads were on the shows and some were on Untucked. Neither edits nor SFX highlighted them much, and therefore they across more subtle.
Case in point, the way she kept coming for Derrick, Chi Chi, and most notably Bob towards the end. You were able to see it on Bob's face. She was unrelenting.
I don't trust her.

Bob as a performer is what drag is all about. But it's interesting that you've got these queens like Kim Chi who represent the social media culture today. Maybe Violet was like that too? I'm not sure on what her past as a performer was (beyond the porn videos lol)

She gets more and more shady each episode. The way she came after Bob last Untucked was crazy. Bob is like,"let it go, queen" and Kim Chi's like,"no, embrace the material, bitch."
Kim Chi has had very little if any strife this season. She's playing easy mode, and she's starting to have her head up her ass.

It was natural for her to play easy mode when Ru and co. did whatever it took to keep her from lip syncing since episode 2. The harshest critique thrown her way was "you walk weird lol but we still love you lots xoxo"

How has Kim Chi's occasional, direct and usually truthful shade become construed as "ooooh, she's shady, can't trust"?
Even accounting for the times she is shady, she's still less shady than average, and at least she always says things to the face and it never comes off as lashing out (see: Derrick).
I mean, I don't think she should win, and you could argue she's sailed through thanks to looks alone, but she's hardly some devious manipulator, come on.

My wife got me into this show, and I can't even pretend any more that Naomi isn't absolutely god damn gorgeous when we watch it now. Fortunately she agrees so it's not too weird..

Yeah her breakdowns are sincere, and it's not like she only reads in confessionals she reads the other queens face to face.
I would be bummed if she wins but she is no master manipulator or anything. She played the game well, all three of them did.

I don't think she's sad at all. I think she's playing the reality tv game and Ru is rewarding her for it. She has nothing to offer outside of her paint. She shouldn't have made it this far. But squirt out a couple tears and lisp a sad tale on the main stage and you're gold. Shading everyone in the workroom when you can't walk, dance, act etc erases any sympathy you might have garnered.

She just dishes more and more shade while not being self aware of and fixing her own flaws. That's all. She starts coming after everyone, even Chi chi and Bob, even though she can't do core things that are a part of every drag queens repertoire such as walking in heels. I'm sorry but no girl. Have you ever been to a drag show and not just watched Drag Race? A lot of the things Kim can't do are Drag 101. Hence the puzzlement that comes from some of her critiques without looking at her own flaws she has absolutely not resolved to work on. In many ways she's the flip side to Dedrick, just a lot less in your face about her lack of experience.
This would mean she is good at acting when we know she isn't. Her real sappy moment only came at the end when she was already top 4 and Ru was demanding such sappy moment, how you jump to the conclusion that she is being insincere is beyond me.

Courtney annoyed me enough that I couldn't appreciate how good looking she is haha. Tho I did think Adore was really hot in that season! Like a drag Katy Perry. Naomi and adore are my GOAT Queens now. Think the wife is getting worried.

Being a giant gay Korean crossdresser who's emotionally estranged from their mother would give plenty to be sad about, I imagine. There's plenty to come after Kim Chi for, but I'm not seeing this one.
But she self deprecates like, every episode. Literally made a joke last episode about how she would tell her childhood self to get dancing lessons.

I think that being very aware of your own flaws puts you in the best position to be shady. See Thorgy's harshness. I can't talk for Kim's actual experience -- I could be projecting -- but that part in Untucked where she gives up on doing the play-runway in indicative of a relentless inner critical voice. So I feel sorry for her in that way.
But yeah, being 'nice' seems to be the thing in the RPDR fanbase now, the very shady Kim Chi has managed to slide under the radar. Still, I don't think at all drag queens need to be nice and I'm against the Disneyfication of drag. Kim Chi winning (based on her sob story) would be very Disney and so I expect it to happen.
