Russell T Davies returns as Doctor Who producer.

Thank fuck for that. Era of Chimpnall and Dr Karen is nearly over.

Plays with kids toys, in the adult gaming world
I haven't enjoyed DW since he left I'm excited for this

People got mad when DW got woke but it had been kinda meh for years by that point

RTD era Who and Torchwood will always have a special place in my heart....."The face of Boa they called me"

“Aww, it’s so...average,” she said to him in a cold brick of passion
Let's see what he can do. They wasted Capaldi and Whittaker. Maybe he can bring it back to some kind of quality.

It’s only fitting that the mind behind the campers era of Doctor Who returns for the rumoured campers Doctor. This can only be a good thing.

As much as I'm happy about this what can he really do to fix it?

The timeless children has ruined pretty much everything about the show.

Olivia Colman would make for a great Doctor. Anyone who watched Broadchurch would wonder why they went with Whitaker over Colman. But from what I've read and seen about Chibnall, if Colman is ever made Doctor then it's a good thing she wasn't wasted on his terribad scripts.

Still BBC, so it'll still be woke and shit

They have agendas to push after all
No idea of what guff they're pumping out now, all I do know is the head of 'diversity' is in over £250.000 a year, for three days of work...

Fuck paying a licence for that alone.

I've only watched a few clips of 13, including the Timeless Child bollocks.

Hopefully RTD can get the train back on the track

Haven't watched it properly since Sylvester McCoy was the Dr, fighting a liquorice all-sorts monster or something.
Edit: Kandy Man.

Having said that, BBC Worldwide and Studios have been seriously unhappy with direction of show,

Friend at work GF went for a job at the BBC (he's black, she's White). Was told was the best applicant by miles, but i between interview and phone call it had been earmarked for Diversity. So fuck off.

David Tennent walks out the shower.

Wouldn't be surprised if they get Tennant back for one season. Emergency re-regeneration. He'd do it. He loves the show. He'd probably do it for free he's such a nut.

White Guardian: "The Doctor is dying ..pull up a previous regeneration template for emergency regeneration" insertion..

Only downside is now there s no chance Ecclestone will come back for anniversary.. Breakdown between him and RTD was too traumatic.

Good news. He will be there to usher in a new Doctor and the first series will be the 60th year Doctor Who since 1963. What is also interesting is, for the first time Who is NOT a BBC only produced show. BBC is co-producing this with Bad Wolf productions.....founded 6 years ago by Julie Gardner (first new-Who producer) and Jane Tranter (BBC head of drama who green-lit the return of Who in 2005). So have some good people involved. I just wonder if RTD is only in for one transition year. I hope not.

That would reek of desperation and confirmation that Chibnall and Whitakker failed miserably. It's good that RTD is back but even that seems a little desperate to get things back on track. Adding a past Doctor would cement the desperation. It won't happen. Maybe for the 60th special but not as a regular.

First episode, everything with that doctor chick was a nightmare, and the real doctor wakes up.

That would be funny.

Interesting read. Looks like the BBC have given up revenue for a hopefully better product. https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/sci-fi/doctor-who-bad-wolf-creative-control-newsupdate/

And let’s hope by relinquishing their grip on it, it means the collection of fucktard wokerati post graduate wank spanners that run the BBC won’t have such an influence on it, and it can go back to being a fucking sci-fi show… and not baby’s first political agenda piece.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

This news is most excellent. I didn't watch anything from series 12 and I'm not planning on watching series 13. But I'll definitely tune in for whatever RTD has in store, especially if his pick for the new Doctor is a good one.

Does Richard Agoade have any range other than comedy? I couldn’t see him as the doctor in any serious way

While he does tend to rely on his dry humor quite a bit, I think he could pull it off. He was easily my favorite character (voiced) on The Mandalorian. He does a lot of TV presenting in the UK too. And while there are humorous moments throughout - he's actually surprisingly decent in Gadget Man and Travel Man.

I wouldn't exactly expect Peter Capaldi levels of seriousness out of him, but I think it would be a good way to set a more lighthearted tone that the show (in my opinion) desperately needs.

Hopefully this current series can go out with a bit of a bang. Chibnall era has been pretty terrible from a writing standpoint. But Flux has set up some intriguing stuff for these next few episodes (even if there was some tonal whiplash going on with the first episode) I can't really blame Jodie for being a bad Doctor given the material she has been given to work with.

Jay Exci did a phenomenal overview on the current Doctor and the Chibnall era as a whole.

I encourage fans to check it out - It's a long video but it's detailed, well researched and Jay clearly has a lot of love and knowledge regarding Who.
