I’ve seen dips down below 40 fps on a 4090 at 1440p on Epic.
Is that all CPU related then?? 7900x
I’ve been on an old nvidia driver though, just updated this morning so maybe things are better now.

It's probably the CPU causing those drops.

I think it's NPC-related too. When you walk into town and the NPC's spawn and start their programmed routine you can basically see the frames drop with every NPC that appears on screen.

Might be similar to Dragon's Dogma 2 where all the hardcoded NPC behavior and all these scripts running simultaneously just tanked the CPU in busy areas.
But why is not happening in other games with lots of NPCs in towns etc.? They're also walking around, doing their thing etc. and why it's not happening during combat when there's human enemies and mutants as well? I just don't get what's the problem here and how is it different.

And the npcs are way less advanced and reactive than games like wd2 or rdr2, so i have no idea why capcom or the stalker guys can't get it done...

For PC players with an ultrawide display, here is a fix that is working perfectly so far to remove the letterboxing, fix the vFOV and a few other things

Has anyone explored the IPSF military base south east from the first town? There's no lore in the game about different factions etc., so you can't tell which one of them are good or bad, not to mention if you can join them or not. I don't want to break some quest / questlines if I'll go there and kill everyone, I mean, these mutherefuckers are hostile to you anyway if they'll spot you in the open world and I already killed a bunch of them but... I idk, this base looks important somehow.

Yeah, this is one of the first side quests you pick up in the game.

The field itself looks gorgeous, aside from the sleeping thing, lol.

Also, I didn't fully realize this before, but this game is doing the Skyrim/Starfield thing where every single object you drop anywhere in the world retains its location at all times. Eg, a red durability gun I dropped at the feet of a trader has still been there after multiple hours, loads, quitting the game and rebooting etc. This kind of stuff probably also contributes a lot to the games very heavy CPU usage.

You get sent there fairly early on if you follow the main quest. There’s some optional dialogue about what the IPSF is but it is extremely minor.

I think they’re hostile by default because you’re basically trespassing.

sadly I unexpectedly busy enough, that I barely finished prologue. Very well, I though its like outside of the player path. (otherwise why fucking making video about it in this way)

Man I wish I had recorded this, but I was out in the middle of nowhere just bumbling around honestly, when I suddenly hear an angry shout from a voice behind me. I turn around and see like, 5 dudes rushing towards me down a hill, so in my panic, I grab one of my grenades and lob it towards them. It didn’t do anything, and the lads just kept trucking… All the way past me.

Turns out, they came aaaaall the way down from their little base to go and murder a group of mutant dogs behind me that were apparently chilling in a small swamp. After that, they went on their merry way back to base.

PSA on getting one of the best accessories (IMO) in the game. The Bear Detector, which replaces your standard beeping artifact detector with a mini radar view, that points to you exactly where the artifact is.

When you reach the Wild Island zone, the professor there will give you a side quest to turn on an antenna on the roof of the plaza and kill the zombie soldier who went up there before you, one of the soldiers went up there and became a 'zombie', when you're on the way there, someone else from the place will call you and tell you to leave the guy alone cause they might find a cure for him later. Most people would just leave the zombie alone, but if you kill him, the professor will give you the Bear Detector, which you can replace your standard detector with.

A 'renegade' choice, but it ends up with a much better reward.

Just got there and looted 3 (!!!!) millitary suits in perfect condition from a few soldiers, as well as a bunch of AKs. Can't say no to that:messenger_smirking:

The thing is though, the town's technitian can't do shit with it and the the mask you can buy, so I guess I have to find some military tech guy somewhere.

I stumbled here today, cleared the area but nothing important, I thought there will be tons of loot and some important shit but NOTHIN
I feel some quest will spawn something there, hopefully. The area is too big.
 
Having to drop this, with all the positive towards the game, i just can't enjoy a game where enemies keep spawning non stop, can't enjoy exploring this way.

It's a good game that i hope will be fixed soon.

Did you actually watch the video? It’s about how the dialogue in town is reactive to the energy drink stash depending on if you take or leave drinks or the note. It’s not just about the poppy field

Updated to a new Nvidia driver that specifically mentioned Stalker 2, then had 2 crashes within 10 minutes. Great job Nvidia!


Anyhow, I just keep on playing, this game has hooked me way more than I expected, could end up as my GOTY.

The open world is fantastic! Might not be what was promised regarding life but the hand crafted structure can really be felt, things look lived in and like it was placed there with care, and when you find something that looks interesting you always find something or end up experiencing something that made it worth taking a closer look.

And I love that monsters and enemies can start fighting on their own. I was in a house minding my own business looking for loot, looked out the window and saw a group of armed people slowly strolling by. I hid and kept silent but then guns went off and I thought they started shooting at me. Looked out the window and saw one of them fall. Huh? Turns out there was another group of people there too and there was a big firefight. I stayed hidden, when things was silent again I went outside and looted the corpses. Thanks! 🤝

When they say Quality Upscaling, is that DLSS upscaling? Sad to see my 3080 under 60fps at 1440p. I'd like to hold 60fps at 4K even if I need to drop settings down and use DLSS.

It's all upscalers using the Quality mode, aka 67% render scale. DLSS, XeSS and FSR.

Unfortunately there is no DLSS (and no FSR) in the Gamepass version. It does have the native UE5 upscaler tho.The devs said it is because of how Microsoft is managing the process between Xbox and PC, and also because they are a small team and that would ask them to do a totally new build. It may come later down the line.

Misinformed, DLSS is in the Gamepass version my bad

What? But i'm using DLSS in the game pass version, so how it can be its not supported like you claim?
Edit: I will check again but shader compiling right now.
Edit 2: i can clearly choose Scale Method (DLSS) with in my case its performance.

Wtf, that's nutty. I was just about to ask if the 3080 can do DLSS + AMD Frame Gen without mods since the Tom's Hardware review was confusing, but I guess that answers that, in my case.

Edit: With amigastar's reply, now I don't know what to believe.

I don't understand the economy in this game at all. Are you not supposed to repair your gear? Who drops 20k on an item repair? And then another 13k on your rifle and then another 10k on your shotgun and...

Well, I gave it a good old college try, but at least on my TV on the xbox-x it's TOO DAMNED DARK. Spent 80% of the first 30 minutes (up to the bunker) in pitch black environments, even with brightness and gamma up to 100%, just moving randomly towards the orange marker in the hopes there would be a path. If there is a flashlight in the game it is far too obtuse figuring it out. Anyway, not sure this type of game is my cuppa anyway, you getns enjoy!

I think they’re trying to encourage/force you to just scrap stuff once it’s used up and use whatever other gear your find.

It does make sense in-world (can only repair something so much when it’s shot up/irradiated/whatever) but is a somewhat frustrating gameplay mechanic because the upgrades for that gear isn’t cheap either.

Go to the display setting and there's a gamma setting toggle that switches between tv or monitor settings.

Chances are this will fix your problem.

No i only watched the beginning and thought it was just about the poppy field, my bad.

Game is legit scary AF, I was expecting this somewhat based on my first game memories of the underground parts, but I guess I was not prepared enough.
But then again maybe it is OLED + dolby atmos app for headphone are doing their job to elevate it, still even Dead Space remake didn't make me shit myself this much when playing last month. Rare experience, love this!

I will say that playing this has made me appreciate how much was lost from Starfield by moving away from a single explorable map. Whilst a great game in its own right (my opinion of course), there is a lot of fun to be had from the ‘What’s that over there? Let’s go and see!’ approach.

Having a great time here in the zone, but I think I will put it on hold until the controller issue is fixed (which I believe they are working on).

I’ve saved it standing on the outskirts of the poppy field, too scared to venture in because it’s the middle of the night.

I have a main shotgun and AK as my primary weapons, I've upgraded them with the options to reduce wear and tear whenever possible, they stay in good condition for a very long time now. Repairs are mostly $2k or so after a couple of missions, but the armor is the most expensive thing and I'm not putting down money for that.

Also, some of these dark basements in buildings are scarier than most modern horror games. This game's atmosphere is incredible.

Got the game running and looking good, but I decided to start over on rookie until they figure out this dog spawn on you and the more advanced AI.

Got a weird bug where I broke a box to get ammo inside now shrapnel of box is every single part of the environment.

Plus the game screen keeps flickering.

Restarting the game now to see if it fixes these two problems.

L instantly activate the flashlight on PC. Strange button choice. Don’t know how it’s done instantly on Xbox, I assume you’ve tried all buttons, but internet says RB gets you to the equipment wheel.

Go to Options - Display
* Image Encoding : sRGB
