S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl ⚠️|☢︎T|⚠️ Don't Be a Menace to Bloodsucker While Trying to Catch an Olive in The Zone

I can wait for it to be 100% fixed.

You know it will never be and will never match the expectation of the gamers, so why wait?
Because i already played the game at launch but gave up after 20 hours i think, no reason to replay until they fix everything.

A-life was the only reason why i bought this game.

A-Life wasn't even there in the launch version
And we didn't know that until the game launched and we realized that the devs scammed us.

A-life2 was one of the selling points of the game dude.

From google ai:

The marketing around Stalker 2's A-Life 2.0 system has been misleading because the promised, complex AI system was not fully implemented at launch due to performance issues

You preordered a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game, what did you expect :P
It was reasonable to assume that the game would not be what it was advertised as.

I'm on your side, I'm not buying the game either until A-Life 2.0 is implemented, but you could have seen this coming a mile away tbh.

There was actually no A-Life at all in the launch version. I think I even make a thread about it

Edit #2:
I did

I wasn't familiar with stalker devs, never played the past games.

Please think about fixing that before returning to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.
SoC is still an awesome game with a dense atmophere, even better with the Complete Mod.

IMO it's still totally worth your time in 2025

I bought the game even being on GP to support the devs, and enjoyed my time with the game, warts and all.

No regerts. 🤷‍♂️

So, is the game good now?

Never was. Never will be, no matter how long GymWolf GymWolf waits. The only way to make it decent is with mods, however, those won't fix the garbage story and pointless exploration. Its visuals are the only good thing. Might revisit it in 5 years or so, maybe modders can overhaul its entire echosystem.

I thought exploration was pretty good, a lot of nooks and cranny where to find stuff.

The loot wasn't super interesting but this is the plague of every super "realistic" game.

Except it's not realistic. This is an rpg with monsters and anomalies. Where are the cool unique anomalies to find? There are like 3 or 4 big ones with only one of them actually being decent and the rest are just copy-pasted trading fodder. Where are all the unique side-quests that would have you find disturbing shit in the zone? Its visuals do not match the content.

I'm maybe in the wrong here but hear me out, I've played the Metro series prior to start the STALKER series last year with the release on console of the OG trilogy and for me at least Stalker 2 is amazing , I got 200 hours and I keep getting amazed at how immersive it is, even compared to prior STALKER games, I do think the fans that played since '07 are however right in being let down by STALKER 2 and for me this is explained by how you guys played these games, I'm talking about MODS and how they set a bar so high that you can only feel disappointment after returning to the vanilla experiences.

But for someone like me who had not dabbed with anything other than the recent trilogy releases and STALKER 2, it's pretty much in my top 5 best gaming experiences to have played them back to back, even after all that time these games are truly unlike anything else I've played including the Metro series, STALKER 2 is great now with the A Life changes they made in recent patch, the game have amazing random encounters and fights you'll never experience in other games. For me that's what I like the most about the series.

So, today is the day Putin's cocksuckers and anuslickers finally blocked the game in Russia as well as accused GSC of supporting ВСУ (Armed Forces of Ukraine) by selling the game in Russia (unnoficially, via steam key sellers and yes, they're doing this as they should) and other countries, so now you can't buy the game anywhere but Steam (not in RU region) as well as everythig else S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and GCS related. Fuck, Putin, fuck everyone around him and who's helping him kill innocent civilians and destroy cities in Ukraine for 4 years already! Take my money, GSC and use them the way you see fit. I'm so, SO VERY SORRY, but it is the only way I can do my part right now🙏:messenger_pensive:

Isn't a-life just AI's running around and fighting stuff independently from you? what is it about it that makes you so into it?

Yes and it is pretty rare in videogames, as a fanboy of good ai in videogames i had to try it.

It was not just that, in the old stalker the enemy ai by itself was very smart in terms of movements and flanking.

I played at release on game pass

What annoys me the most in this game is the weapons/armor degradation. You will spend all of your money in it and not be able to buy new stuff or upgrade

Hope they fixed or ajusted this

One of the first thing they fixed, prices for reparation were ridicolous.

A-life also had npc's searching for artifacts, trading or selling them to a vendor, or completing minor quests, it is not just fighting stuff. All of it while every npc had its own faction/enemies, so it gave a pretty good illusion of the player just being another individual in the game world while also making every playthrough unique.

Not yet! Was waiting on some news on that A-Life being fixed. Maybe I missed them? :goog_relieved:
It's improved. Enemies aren't spawning 4 feet from me, they are flanking me, flushing me out with grenades, etc.

Now's a great time to dive in since performance is amazing too.

That's great news, wanted to try this since it came out but the news of the release being how it was turned me off a bit.

But yeah, like I said in the other thread I have no time to play videogames right now. I'm all in working in my game and probably won't do anything else until I release a demo.

But thanks for the recommendations man, I sure appreciate it. Just was reading some thread about the Inazuma game in another website and people sure seem to like it, that's another one I need to get my hands into.

I am so conflicted on picking this up.

I love the Metro series (Exodus especially) but where the similarities seem to end is where I get nervous clicking "purchase"…

I'd mentioned in another thread, but the gameplay loop seems fairly repetitive to me? You just go out and loot, return back to a safe zone and sell/buy more stuff?

Obviously there's a main/side missions, but from what I can tell they seem "fetch questy"?

Also, there doesn't seem to be a lot of diversity in the environments - granted I get it's modeled after the real area and it's not some fantasy, "here's your ice, fire, air" zones…but it definitely feels like what I've seen makes it seem kind of one note.

Lastly, I can't seem to get a feel for how exploration in the open world really pays off? You find artifacts that you can slot into armor sets you find/buy?

It's a bit of a mixed bag. Been playing a bit and the AI is definitely improved, A-life finally seems to be somewhat working, passing through an outpost, seeing no one but a bunch of dead bodies around and signs of a fight almost made me drop a tear of joy. It finally feels like the zone is being lived in with or without us.

But at the same time I've had encounters where I could literally watch enemies spawn behind me whenever I turned my back, and on Master difficulty they're way too OP, unfairly so imo, they can basically aimbot you through bushes at a distance at night, the system is far from perfect still...

And now they've also introduced a shitty ass bug where artifacts spawn underground and it's pretty much impossible to catch them. They released an hotfix today but it didn't fix this particular bug unfortunately...

Everytime I play this game I enjoy it but I'm refraining myself from playing it too much and explore past Garbage Heap and finishing the story, I truly have the feeling it'll be a 10\10 experience once it's truly polished and the DLCs with explorable zones like Lymansk and the CNPP are out.

To anyone who may read this.
The game is definitely worth playing but if you have other games in your backlog I'd definitely recommend you play those and come back to this one in a year or two. Let the devs cook a bit more, they're doing good so far they just need more time.

If you have a beasty PC and like fancy graphics they're supposedly adding hardware RT sometime in the future as well so even one more reason to wait. The game is already quite gorgeous, can't even imagine how it'll look like when we're finally able to get rid of all the garbage artifacts that software lumen causes.

Software Lumen shit is SO BAD that I can't even believe my eyes when I see all its atrocities. It's just beyond awful and downright disgusting in indoor locations with tons of light leaks, atrocious AO, fake and blinding af light coming from outside and reflections... OMG! When you finally go to the huge lab complex and see what's happening there you wouldn't believe your eyes. Almost everything is decorated and built out of glass there, but you can't tell it's glass cuz it's 1000% transparent and only at certain angles you can see absolutely terrible reflections with N64 like objects, textures and shit with x1000 times TAA. There's also tons of noise and artifacts, like, holy shit ma dudes, just look at this...

And that is if you somewhat fix reflections via Engine.ini and make them look better mind you.

The game also looks flat unless you mod GTAO, Virtual Shadows and other stuff via Engine.ini:

Default Epic:

Epic + GTAO, Virtual Shadows etc.:

chdwD4U.jpeg
To say I can't wait for UE5.5 update is to say nothing, cuz unless you also tweak streaming issues via Engine.ini, you just can't get even stable 30 FPS in 1440p with DLSS Quality on Epic settings and with the rest of the Engine.ini tweaks to make the game look better.

But other than that, the game is in a much better state now than it was on launch. I still had to mod some things in like better movement and flashlight that works like it should now, but that's about it.

My man I know this is off topic but are you Tintoconcasera? Did you change your name?

Well, I bought it and played the little intro. This game is hard and I love it. Already got scared good by a Poltergeist and a Bloodsucker, lol.
When I'm off work today, I'll continue with the first side quest and move forward with the main one. Shooting is nice but I do think the bandits have some sort of aimbot. Quite annoying how accurate they are.

Don't have any recollection of the first game being quite challenging from the start, been a long time and I played it so much back then I probably got used to it.

You could've easily been killed in the first game. The first area (Cordon) already had some mutants (but no bloodsuckers) and deadly anomalies, but the most likely spots would be the southern checkpoint or the camp under the bridge. I always try to kill the bad guys from that second one since they can be a good source for better weapons, so it's worth the risk.

This game just feels good to play. Like the way they made use of the ps5 dual sense may be my favorite in any game yet.

This is such an easy game to immerse yourself into and feel like 5 minutes went by and it's been hours. Damn good experience.

you recommend this over 2 right now? looking to jump into the series
Didn't play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 yet, because I'm still waiting for full A-Life 2.0 and UE 5.5.4 update - so I can't recommend this 'over 2', but I can highly just recommend it.
S.T.AL.K.E.R. SoC (optional: with complete mod) is a game I replay every few years and it still feels unique to this day and has a special place in my heart.

The gunplay with the Dualsense is so so good. The various haptic feedbacks depending on the guns, the sound design, and the gyro aiming is the godsend enables you to make so precise shots. It's all so slick

Love infiltrating ennemies base starting with a silence gun, double tapping guards posted around the area and slowly crawling my way to the heart of the base before all hell lets loose

Are you playing on PS5 or PC? I thought DualSense was supposed to be patched in for PC but when I launched it my controller was still not recognized.

Full DualSense support was added with 1.7 update, but you need to connect it to PC via USB cable.

And yeah, I absolutely agree with F Flabagast , it's amazing experience playing the game by using DualSense and especially cuz of the sound design - what they did is basically made it so that all radio calls, all tablet UI and stuff is played through DualSense's speaker, so it feels like you've a Combat-net radio on you all the time which adds to the atmosphere and immersion, and when you use your tablet to check the map, add markers and stuff, you're getting sound confirmations via speaker.

Idk why they decided to make the L2 hard to press to ready your weapon instead of R2 to work that way and pull the trigger, but whathever, I guess they have their reasons for that.
