S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl ⚠️|☢︎T|⚠️ Don't Be a Menace to Bloodsucker While Trying to Catch an Olive in The Zone

Full DualSense support was added with 1.7 update, but you need to connect it to PC via USB cable.

And yeah, I absolutely agree with F Flabagast , it's amazing experience playing the game by using DualSense and especially cuz of the sound design - what they did is basically made it so that all radio calls, all tablet UI and stuff is played through DualSense's speaker, so it feels like you've a Combat-net radio on you all the time which adds to the atmosphere and immersion, and when you use your tablet to check the map, add markers and stuff, you're getting sound confirmations via speaker.

Idk why they decided to make the L2 hard to press to ready your weapon instead of R2 to work that way and pull the trigger, but whathever, I guess they have their reasons for that.
I tried connecting it via usb and bluetooth and it still showed up as a Xbox controller like it did prior. I also tried turning Steam input on and off as well.

Is this worth grabbing on PS5 Pro? Everything I've seen of the new 1.7 update looks great and seems like this is the time to jump in.
It's a much better game now, but visually and performance-wise - still complete disaster due to numerous UE5.1 issues. Performance is better, somewhat, in comparison to launch, but they did absolutely nothing to visuals and overall game presentation. Wait for UE5.5 update, you'll have much, MUCH better experience both visually and performance-wise.

Is performance still that rough on PS5 Pro? I've got a VRR TV so assuming it doesn't drop below 48fps I imagine it would still feel smooth enough to play?

As much as I want you to buy it, wait for the UE5.5 update, first impressions are very important and trust me, you don't want to see UE5.1 atrocities not only during gameplay, but also in story cutscenes etc. But if you still want to pull the trigger now, watch DF review:

41h on base ps5,game runs great for me in Performance Mode,i barely notice any difference when going into towns with alot of npcs, seems like vrr just handles that. Feels very fluid to me.

Im taking my sweet time with the game, only completed Lesser Zone and went straight to Cardon cause i could just tell its Cardon from looking at the map.

Had a few bugs sofar but its pretty minor:

Ribs anomaly artefact spawns and drops through the ground.Managed to loot it after a few tries.

Death Cave in Cardon ,the artifact simply isnt there where it should be,well all the other loot is atleast.

As for weapons im still using the:

unique akm-74s + extended mag with the sniper scope. Way too valueable for the scope alone imo.

Viper 5 with the holographic sight and extended mag. Pretty much for cqc only.

M860 Cracker for mutants and i finally got the magazine blueprint today and instantly upgraded..what a difference!

Skifs Pistol with Silencer and extended mag. Sucks you cant put it into storage but its fine cause the gun is busted!

Armor is still Sunrise Suit with no upgrades.

Got 170k K on me just waiting for something like the Seva suit.

This makes me wish I had waited to get it on PS5 Pro instead of PC.

Might consider double-dipping as I haven't really played much of the game yet - was waiting for patches to fix a bunch of stuff first.

Just done with the swamps.

I know some are frustrated with it but I simply LOVED it.

Super hardcore level, draining all you resources and making you barely scrapping by, died a countless times, feels like old school STALKER through and through. Every beacon to activate has its own mini challenge and forces you to play tactical (on Veteran difficulty). Also gorgeous atmosphere and environment design, place feels like a rotten, forbidden hell. It nearly played like a From Soft legacy dungeon on FPS view. A-life played its parts, I saw a three parties fight in the burning anomalies field: zombies vs. pigs mutants vs. stray dogs, all attacking each other with like 20 entities fighting at the same time and being burned when going through the anomalies, while I was shooting the winning side from my tower in order to thin everybody's group evenly, it was super glorious. The mini set piece at the end is just the cherry on top.

God I find this game to be so strong, never had I expected that when I read the launch reviews a year ago.

??? Game runs at a locked 60fps on ps5 pro. Zero stutter. Anywhere.

Idk wtf he's talking about and DF always, ALWAYS blows shit out of proportion to make things sound ghastly and unplayable.

PS5 pro here and 40 hours in. 0 issues.
I've had a few bugs but cycling saves like it's a fallout game hasn't locked me on anything once.

I played on launch too on pc, and that sucked.

Given the choice, would you play on PC or PS5 Pro now?
Pro now with the caveat that the pros biggest drawback is the lack of mods.

PC allowed me for example to get rid of the weight system entirely and made the game more fun.

I personally loathe weight management in games. No clue why devs keep doing this shit.

Performance is mostly fixed on consoles and I'm not saying it's unplayable there, but how does it look? Not great to say the least cuz even on PC maxed out (vanilla Epic) it looks flat and consoles don't have access to GTAO, Virtual Shadows, better draw distance for trees and grass, better clouds etc. which you can only enable via Engine.ini on PC - whith all this enabled, performance is nowhere near good on PC without additional streaming tweaks. Of course I'm talking about my own system with 8700K, 32gigs of RAM and 3080Ti.

I posted comparisons on the previous page as well as all UE5.1 visual problems (that's with all Engine.ini tweaks mind you) and consoles don't even run the game on all Epic settings and don't have access to better upscaling methods like DLSS 4, so no wonder performance is better there with worse visuall quality and very bad internal UE5.1 TAA.

The game looks damn good. Only issue is the reflections in swamp are black shadow blocks too often.

Looks like a ps5 game. Console gamers are in for a treat.

Both Software Lumen and SSR are terrible as well as fake light from the outside in indoor locations and default AO they're using, plus cuz of the light leaks in some areas (Underground!) you can't even tell if GTAO is working or not. The game looks the best in outdoor areas and select indoor ones. Like, if people want to look at the game in this state, more power to them.

Damn the 4 or 5 Snorks at Chemical Tanks sure took me a while on Veteran.

Found a Assault Rifle Suppressor at the Warden shop outside their base for 5k..i know i could loot it but i still bought it cause i wanna have more than 1 anyway

Over 30 deaths in the tunnel northwest of the Wards Outpost on electricity anomaly which had 2 artefact but you cant just pick it up on first attempt, it jumps to another electricity field..

First one was Moonlight, +3 electrical -3 rad. Cool beans..

But the last one made all this worth it!

Lantern, +3 rad and +3 electrical.

i needed that for the -3 rad of tourists breakfast artefact which i wanna use.

I keep seeing videos for this popping up on YouTube and it looks like so much fun. Even the weapon jamming looks awesome and increases the tension. Only gonna cost me £41 for digital on PS5 and my lack of self control has me hovering over the purchase button lol.

It's really good. Give it a shot.

Or if you can hold it, give it a few months for that UE5.5 patch to come out so it's in an even better state.

I ended up with zero health items and very little ammo in Wild Island and decided to make a very desperate trek back to the first settlement, dodging mutants, anomalies and firefights along the way. All because the fast traversal guy there wanted bugger all to do with me. I literally made it with a hairs width of health.

Its an awesome game, not perfect mind you, but really good and worth playing

Bought it and it's downloading. As long as it's in a playable state I'll be fine. Fuck I played the shit out of Two Worlds when it first released and that was a damn mess.

It's perfectly playable right now with some drops to 50s. The next update is just to free up more CPU resources.

No better time to play if you haven't already.

Lowkey annoying to walk back to Zalissya from the Chemical Plant area just to use stash and repair. Atleast they let me sell stuff in the same area. Could have put a stash there too lol.

Found a cool portal type anomaly north of Central Elevator which includes alot of jumping to reach the next portal which ultimatively rewards you with the PSZ-20W CONVOY armor which is a great upgrade to the Sunrise Suit. Dat 8kg weight tho...

For those having played the game, does the SIRCA mission locks you off any side quests ?

Why dont you use fast travel with the guides instead ?

Cause it costs 1k. I rather put that in repairs.

I just had 5k repair costs fyi ..

OK ma dudes, just cuz I love you and there's so much interest in playing the game after 1.7 update, I took some time to look at every possible opportunity to make the game look and perform as best as it can be in its current state on PC, so here, take this Engine.ini and place it to this folder: C:\Users\Your Username\AppData\Local\Stalker2\Saved\Config\Windows

Believe me, the game will never look better that this until the UE5.5 update with actual hardware RT. There's a bit of reflection breakup in some cases when you look down, but 99% of the time you won't even notice it, reflections are now crystal clear and there's no more weapon model or detector overlap on reflections anywhere, cuz I completely removed the beyond awful reflection method the game uses by default. I also boosted LODs of everything by a lot, so there won't be (if any) pop-in + there's way more grass etc. everywhere, there's no more atrocious AO with ghosting (reflections are free from this too), horrific indoor and fake lighting, no more light leaks etc. etc. etc.

I know not everyone has beastly CPUs, so I tested the game on my rig with 8700K and it's perfectly locked at 30 FPS (via Riva) at 4K DLSS Quality (Preset F), except some occasional small loading stutter but nothing even remotely serious. Anyway, enjoy! And here's a few shots I made just to demonstrate how the game looks now:

I'm 70 hours in with 50% completion of main story. Staying up to 2AM losing sleep playing this one and it's all been worth it.

It's so damn good!

Was up until just gone midnight playing yesterday. It's really good so far, only slight nitpick I have is loading times on death seem just a bit longer than I'm used to on PS5 Pro. I must have died 3 or 4 times when I first got the bolt as the anomalies kept killing me lol. I should probably just get gud eh?

Save often in multiple slots. Bugs can still exist to soft lock you out of stuff.

But yeah load times are long but I think part of that is it's like fallout where it's remembering everything in the world like where corpses are and items you dropped into the world etc.

Thanks for the tip there! Will make sure I use multiple saves. The load times aren't bad really and it's a pretty big world with a lot to remember, so it's fine really. Maybe they can improve them with further upgrades to the engine.

The thing I can't wait for is the eventual multiplayer PvP inclusion.

My mind is racing with possibilities lol. Death match arenas, extraction shooter, even shrinking circle BR where an emission is happening.

If this games story sticks its landing I'm going to be so unsure which is my GOTY. I guess technically Clair 33 since stalker officially launched last year.

58h in with only 8% story progress according to my ps5. I explored sooo much in chemical plant area..only the Army Warehouse left and im done with it even tho there is still 1 small area left where zombified soldiers attack and i could not get the artefact..i did find another psi zombie soldier spot and managed to grab it instantly so i dunno what im doing wrong with the other one.

Anyway,
I FINALLY moved on from the Viper 5 and the unique AKM with the scope!

Rollin with a Buket S-2 now with a bunch of upgrades and a suppressor + the Fora 221 with all upgrades + x2 scope.

Holy smoke what a difference! And i still got 200k koupons left.

Btw i was very dissapointed to see how ass backwards the difficulty settings are compared to the original trilogy.

I always played on master bc it was a kill fast/die fast difficulty. None of that is in the game anymore.

Fucked up how games like GoT/GoY picked up on that and have Lethal difficulty that plays exactly like the old stalker games but Stalker 2 dropped the ball and enemies are actually sponging bullets once you switch to Veteran....

Just finished up one ending at 75 hours. Loved the ending but felt one decision I made I really wasn't sure about what I wanted to do.

Reloaded that specific one and had a lot more lore revelation so I think I'm going to drop the combat down to easy just to quickly stomp the last few areas starting with red fortress. The game really throws the kitchen sink at you in its final hours lol.

Absolute 10/10 masterpiece. If this new ending is even better somehow I'll be having an existential crisis on this game.

It's not a perfect game, plenty of issues to still root out, but it is certainly an unforgettable experience that completely captivated me from start to finish.

It kinda makes me not want to play the original trilogy because I know the mystery of The Zone having beaten Stalker 2.

I didn't realize this was a 50+ hour game. I am pretty sure I could beat the first 3 games combined in that amount of time.

Well ... the game world of this game is bigger than all the previous one's combined so ... it fits.

Dang. Sounds like lots of walking. I won't bother with this game on Game Pass. I will eventually buy it on sale and after they release version 2.0 or so.

It also heavily depends on how you play the game, I've got 50h on it and I've barely left the Slag Heap. Basically I've just been artifact hunting and killing bandits and selling their weapons from time to time to test the game whenever a new update comes out.
I really want to see Pripyat under the best possible graphical conditions so I'm holding out for HW RT, I'm hoping that might come along the engine upgrade.

Game has so much meat to it that you can easily do 2-3 playthrough and experience enough variety. Dive in now, go again later on a harder difficulty with new path decisions etc.

Nah, still a lot of stuff they will improve.
I honestly regret buying it at launch. Should've waited, this is a game I only want to fully experience and finish when it is fully working as intended.
I want to see the whole story and explore the whole map when the Zone is at its best.

Just did the project Y ending which I'm convinced is meant to be the true ending.

I was total goosebumps at the reveal and grinning ear to ear.

Bravo! Absolute cinema.
