Saint Seiya Announced for PS3 | Melee Action Game [Update: Gameplay Videos]

Namco Bandai is readying a PlayStation 3 conversion of the popular Saint Seiya manga and anime. Revealed in a two page spread in this month's issue of V Jump, the PS3 game is titled "Saint Seiya Senki" (which could perhaps be translated as Saint Seiya Chronicle).

Jump describes the adaptation's genre as "cinematic melee action." The various Saints will be facing off against countless enemies. Characters confirmed or the game include Cygnus Hyoga, Dragon Shiryu, Andromeda Shun, Pegasus Seiya and Phoenix Ikki.

While there are no gameplay specifics yet, Jump does mention that as you fight, you'll see messages from your fellow saints, shown at the bottom of the screen.

A release is set for this Fall.

My favorite series ever. The games never did it any justice though.
 
I was SO into Saint Seiya when I was a kid, it'd be nice if it followed the plot of the first few seasons. Hell, it'd be nice if this game wasn't total crap. The music must be preserved as-is, too.

Caballeros del Zodiaco HAHAHAHA. I can't believe they still keep adding to the story. It's sad that all the games are crap though. However, there was a PS2 game that looked at least worth a rental.

Yeah lolz. I gave the most recent anime a chance, it's just meh. Nothing can touch the original saints.

I bet it's gonna be a reskinned version of the recent Fist of the North Star. CyberConnect2 should be working on this game instead of that Asura's Wrath crap.

Even worse, I think it probably means non-interactive in-battle cut-scenes when they perform special attacks. It's pretty common among licence fighting games.

Hell, I remember back then how saint seiya action figures were the shit, even kids with GI Joes were made fun of.

I always thought funny that the hispanic intro had footage from Saint Seiya movies, it even spoils Seiya getting the Sagittarius armor. :lol Not a single fuck was given by the people that edited that crap.

Jesus Christ, Namdai is really going all out with JPN PS3 Support and here I thought the number of extra titles being planned over the 360 during the financials listed earlier this year is due to PSone classics....

Fuck this just got me on a Saint Seiya kick. I had no idea the series had so much material.

Anyone care to recommend something for someone whose last experience with SS was in the early 90s? I watched all of the anime and I watched the Hades movie but I barely remember any of the movie.

Don't know how well the anime has aged so I dunno if I should give that a try.

Fuck it. I'm gonna rewatch the whole damn thing. TV + all the OVAs and Movies. Fillers and all.
 
The previous games on PS2 were okay, but I don't have any hope for this game if it's Musou Saint Seiya.

If this is a Naruto UNS or Tenkaichi styled game then that's enough for me. REALLY hope it's not a fucking Musou game. Ugh.

my friend played the ps2 fighting game, he said it's so shitty, when you die you go into button mashing mini game where Athena told you to get up and you get completely recovered if you succeed and there's no limit to this so you essentially cannot die. even worse though, enemy is so cheap that my friend keep dying and reviving until he's sick of it and not playing it again. LOL

Kagari's quote says "The various Saints will be facing off against countless enemies". Pretty much confirms Musou Saint Seiya.

Well, goodbye game. At least the announcement got me to check out Saint Seiya anime again :D

I can't watch the original series anime anymore. It was fine when I was young, but now... Lost Canvas is great though.
 
I never even understood half of what those dudes were saying in the spanish song until recently.

And yeah, Shiryu and Ikki were the best bronze saints by far.
 
Caballeros del Zodiaco, one of my favorite series ever. Too bad it looks like a musou game since i don't like those type of games.

Namco should put Cyber Connect2 behind more anime games. I would love a Dragon Ball and Saint Seiya game made in the same way they made Naruto UNS2.
