But it wasn't too early to shit on Sakurai and his competence as a developer just because people didn't like what he wrote in this article?
Because of Brawl. And we've had a lot of time to explore that.

#Smash4 info: Just tested & its now confirmed. Every character in the JPN 3DS demo has guaranteed follow ups out of grab at low percent.

There is gonna be so much off-stage dunking in #sm4sh. SO MUCH. IT WILL BE GLORIOUS.
Are you serious? Impressions from a couple of hours in a demo with five characters are almost as irrelevant as impressions from the E3 build. Not saying that Smash 4 won't be good (it more than likely will be) but you can calm down a bit with the smug attitude before the full game is even known. What does that have to do with Smash 4?
Just eat your crow with grace.

I know he said thus far and all but... That's a weird thing to say still lolOverall #Smash4 impressions: Very impressed. Game is fast, looks incredible, moves flow smoothly & it features a very balanced roster thus far

More... what? That's not really a complete thought. If this is what you can do with only a few minutes with 5 characters, then logically the full game should offer even more.

Fighting games, Smash included, are a huge ball of complexities and intricacies. It's not just the mechanics that matter; it's how those mechanics interact with other mechanics. You can't judge things in a vacuum. In Brawl, Ness may seem like a somewhat competent character at first, but as soon as your opponent picks Marth, everything you thought you knew becomes meaningless. Even once the full game is out, we still won't know everything because it takes time before people start figuring out what the dominant strategies are. If chaingrabs were somehow never discovered, Brawl would have been a better game.
I want to reiterate that I'm not saying that Smash 4 will be bad, or that some gamebreaking exploit is going to be found. Sakurai's stressed that this game has been tested a lot more thoroughly than Brawl, so we probably don't have much to worry about. I'm just saying that jumping to conclusions doesn't help anybody, regardless of if they're negative or positive.
Balance-wise sure, there's no telling how the full game will be balanced just by judging the demo, but alot of the negativity with this game has been with the mechanics "No combos, not a true fighter" ,"slow as brawl" "landing lag everywhere" etc. We are now seeing some of these things being proven wrong.
I admit that I'm also jumping to conclusions but it is looking good so far.
WHAT COMBOS?
SORRY, NO LVL 1 COMPUTERS PLEASE.
I know you're being sarcastic, but Smash is one of those games were it's really hard to tell if what you have is a real combo or not because of the many ways to escape.
ZeRo found a reliable 67% Mario combo.
WHAT COMBOS?
SORRY, NO LVL 1 COMPUTERS PLEASE.
It's like Smash 64 DI almost. So DI is confirmed not to exist in this game, then?
So DI is confirmed not to exist in this game, then?
Childish and idiotic.
I know at least on streamer was certain that he could DI.
Yeah, I agree we'd need to see competent people try local play to do these combos because I wouldn't put my faith in a CPU (level 1 or 9) to actively try and do stuff.
I was just about to post that. This is just the demo and that's one of the greatest things I've EVER seen in Smash.
Hard to say with the Megaman combo breaker glitch.Megaman would have lived if he didn't panic like a dingus and up b in the middle of that.
Not saying there aren't combos or anything
I'm not sure what you're trying to say. Keitaro used the "glitch" in the video to escape the combo, False read it, punished it, and it resulted in a KO.Hard to say with the Megaman combo breaker glitch.
