Why do so many think that this is segregating this subset of gamers?

It's just making a sub-group within another sub-group more visible, and you don't even have to be gay to go.

I'd assume it's because putting thought in to such matters requires much more effort than driveby posting.

It's just making a sub-group within another sub-group more visible, and you don't even have to be gay to go.

Gay people have to dedicate their lives to social activism by only engaging in events within the mainstream culture with the explicit purpose of fostering awareness (after all if it were just for the sake of leisure they could do whatever they want) or they're not doing their part to end homophobia and are self-segregating, or something.
