And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'
Out of all the actors her age, I feel like she has the ability and the sensibilities to be the next huge thing. It wasn't coincidence that she was in Hanna with Cate Blanchett, I see really similar things in both of them. So what's her "Elizabeth" going to be then?

There was to be a scene in Hanna where Hanna and Marissa meet for the first time, earlier in the film during the cat and mouse phase, and apparently the two played off each other very well, but for whatever it was cut and wasn't included on the BD as a deleted scene. Wright, you dick. :p

Considering the creative talent involved, this will undoubtedly be her ticket to her
long overdue
second Oscar nom.

I'm glad Jon Hopkins is getting some love, from the Apple event..It's a beautiful soundtrack.

Only a couple of weeks to go! I still need to look into whether it's possible for me to buy stuff from the US iTunes store, otherwise I'll be waiting a little while longer.

Edit: Here's another short interview from the BFI Awards. She quashes the Fantastic Four rumours at the end.

The NYT has published a new interview and a handful of photos to go with it:

Edit: And a video of her interview on Lorraine Live the other week has finally surfaced.

Edit edit: Here's another new interview, with Detroit News. Apparently HTCAM is due for release next June.

I can't see who else could beat her out for the role. Maybe Anna Sophia or Dakota Fanning?

Fanning's a possibility if Disney is after a recognisable name. I knew The Host bombing would create a bit of a pall. :( There's no truth to the Fantastic Four rumours, but Episode VII is the second blockbuster she's missed out on now.

She looks pretty amazing in those photos above at the premier. I hope she lands a role in a big blockbuster film soon, one that doesn't tank.

New interview with Metro.us, new video interview alongside Macdonald with Shine On Media, and finally a couple of photos of her with the two sisters of 78violet (who I've never heard of until now):

Edit: She was on the Nerdist podcast today. The episode runs for about 54 minutes.

Edit edit: New interview with Slant Magazine and a quick Q&A with Yahoo Movie Talk.

Edit edit edit: She was on George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight. She kicks off the show, though if you're pressed for time isn't mentioned until the two-minute mark.

Edit^4: Here's a more general interview with Collider (there are several new interviews with her and Macdonald concerning HILN, but they're all very similar). GPH and HTCAM come up.

Was that her T'nA in How I live Now or a body double?

I didn't think there was any nudity in the film? (I'm 15 minutes into it at the moment, incidentally.) She's obviously nude in the video for Garden's Heart so I'd be surprised if it were a body double.

Edit: Ah, I just reached the scene you're referring to (and presumably the very same scene Miles mentioned earlier in the thread). The way it's shot makes it hard to be sure, but again I'd be surprised if a body double were used. Odd that the scene isn't mentioned in the BBFC's report considering it actually contains nudity.

I finished watching HILN earlier. Here's my mini-review, shamelessly cross-posted from another forum:

Just finished watching this. Aesthetically speaking, it's a very beautiful film, particularly in the first half where there is no shortage of delightful shots of the verdant, rolling countryside, and I love the preference for natural lighting (a hallmark of Malick's films in particular and in fact the Lubezki influences are obvious), but the script has its issues: most notably, the relationship between Daisy and Edmond feels rushed and consequently forced, so the heart of the film — "love will lead you home", as the tagline so succinctly puts it — doesn't resonate as strongly as it should (a problem that also plagued The Host), however the bond that Daisy develops with the young Piper is much the opposite, which I suppose is to be expected given it's the focus of the later half or so of the film; additionally, Daisy isn't quite as abrasive and unlikeable as interviews had lead me to believe, which makes her character arc a little less profound. Speaking of, Ronan is naturally the standout, particularly with her innate, captivating talent to communicate strongly with nothing more than a facial expression out in full force (I'd put her performance ahead of Hanna but still behind The Lovely Bones), however I'd also have to give an honourable mention to Harley Bird, the young girl who plays the aforementioned Piper; I felt she handled the transition to an emotionally scarred kid suddenly placed in a situation that's beyond her comprehension with aplomb. Lastly, despite the film being set against the backdrop of a large-scale war (despite many sites mentioning World War 3, it isn't explicitly stated, unless I missed something), there are no bombastic sequences of destruction or violence — the film peels away from Daisy's pilgrimage only a few times to afford the audience a glimpse into the realities of war and this makes these scenes all the more salient.

Overall, despite the core of the film falling short of the mark, I'd say it's well worth a watch.

Edit: Reading other opinions on the film it seems I'm in the minority when it comes to Daisy's personality. I think the reason I feel a little differently is that it's made immediately clear she's emotionally troubled due to her father's apparent apathy and so I view her abrasiveness as an understandable defence mechanism — sure, she's a bitch, but she has her reasons.

I've also read that some people feel that Daisy's little nudie run is a rather awkward and unnecessary inclusion (a subset of these folks feel that Saoirse degraded herself by going nude at 18, which is, uh, an interesting opinion to have), but I think it's fitting considering her age and the physical nature of the relationship she had with Edmond (which we can reasonably assume was her first).

I'd say HILN ranks as Saoirse's best film, overall, for 2013 (good but not great). Violet & Daisy and Byzantium I'd put on even ground (decent but flawed), with The Host distantly bringing up the rear (terrible). Roll on 2014!

I'd love to see her team up with Wright again for another action film, but it seems he's returned to familiar territory (adaptations of literature) for the foreseeable future. I don't think HILN has sat well enough with critics for an Oscar nom, but she'll definitely get an IFTA (again) and a BAFTA nom is a distinct possibility considering they recognised her work in The Lovely Bones. Mary Queen of Scots is going to give her another shot at an Oscar, I'd wager, which would actually be rather fitting.

The Jon Hopkins soundtrack is amazeballs. I might see him live in a few weeks.

I'll probably check out HILN on Amazon Instant because I can't be bothered to go the theater.

I had to jump through a few hoops to get it from Amazon since purchasing from Instant isn't quite as easy as using a US-based VPN, but I got there in the end.

Late edit: I'm working my way through the soundtrack and it really is great. I particularly love his Home remix and the title track. I suppose I didn't take much notice of it during the film as the understated orchestral arrangements so perfectly compliment the scenes.

Late edit edit: In addition to being beautiful tracks, I adore the segue from The Field into The River.

I'm sure it must upset her to miss out on a role that she really wanted but she's right in that she shouldn't have mentioned it. She's a solid actress but a lot of people spend years auditioning for big roles until they finally land one.

I'm sure she'll get there eventually. Who knows, maybe there'll be another role for her in another Star Wars movie (or other Abrams project).

Yeah, I think she just let the excitement get the better of her.

Oh, definitely. It's just a little frustrating to see her luck falling short when it comes to such highly-coveted roles, however, as you suggest, she has her whole adult career ahead of her.

Sound editing was fantastic in the film, really liked that they understated the soundtrack and played up the natural soundscape.
Also, Nick Drake. I always fall for Nick Drake in films. The music picks in this are top notch.

Some of the criticisms that I have is that not only was the relationship between Daisy and Edmond rushed, it seems that the whole first part is. Maybe not in terms of pacing, but characterization. The audience doesn't spend enough time with the family to make us care. Compare that to Daisy and Piper because of the amount of time the camera stays with them and how well Saoirse was with her.

Also, the cover of it with her headphones reminds me of :

Yeah, I'd definitely agree there. When (actual spoiler)
Daisy discovers the pile of bodies and finds Isaac's among them
it wasn't as shocking as it should have been. I'd say the first half of the film is at least 20 or so minutes too short and needed to be fleshed out more.

Edit: Here's a new interview with Indiewire and here's a nice interview with, of all publications, MySpace, which probably explains why it only just started doing the rounds despite being published a few days ago. :p

Turns out a body double was indeed used:

Not entirely unexpected given the framing (Daisy's face only comes into view in a few brief close-up shots).

Oh man, you are my twin.
