Brooklyn has been picked up by Lionsgate UK (UK and Ireland) and Transmission Films (Australia and New Zealand -- hooray!) and will presumably release in 2015 (filming is set to begin next Spring). Also tucked away in the article is a mention that the film has an estimated budget of €19m, which is respectable for a drama.

In other news, Saoirse and George recently(?) did a photoshoot promoting How I Live Now (I think, at least in part, to get a photo for the Russian one-sheet):

The Host is certifiably awful.
This is true. But my wife just had to send in her preliminary 2013 award nominations for her film critic association, and she chose Ronan as one of her best actress noms -- on the grounds that Ronan made it possible to finish what was otherwise a totally unwatchable piece of crap. It was still bad, but its being bad made Ronan stand out all the more for being good in it, when nobody else could elevate the material.

Haha, there's no arguing with that reasoning. The film overall is such a mess that I almost regret paying to see it at the cinemas -- if it weren't her first theatrical release since 2011's Hanna I probably would have felt a little ripped off. :p

I just walked past her, she's in town for the Turner Prize. So god damn pretty in real life.

Ah, right, that's today. For some reason I was thinking it was the 4th. Also, jealous. :p

Edit: Here are a few HILN photos that I'd guess are from an as-yet-unreleased Making Of featurette:

And here's Saoirse and Harley posing with their doubles on set:

I just listened to her nerdist podcast episode, that accent <3

I still need to get around to listening to that.

Edit: She's up for London Critics' Circle's Best Young British Performer award. THR has the full list, with 12 Years a Slave leading the pack.

Edit edit: Here's a slightly old piece of news that I managed to miss: Grand Budapest Hotel will be premiering at the Berlin Film Festival on February 6th.

Edit edit edit: A handful of b&w BTS stills from HILN:

There are also a bunch of new promo stills. I particularly like this one:

Could not disagree more, I think the BD cover is laughable. The gun is very out of place.

I do think it gives the wrong impression, but the one-sheet used to promote the film is just exceedingly dull. How is the look of a disillusioned teenager supposed to interest people? :p

I think the original poster works by virtue of its color palette and Ronan's character's cool getup, but yeah it's definitely not great or anything.

I just hate how most BD covers are horrendous photoshop jobs with zero artistic merit. There's usually a beautiful theatrical poster available but for some reason studios are very cynical about home video marketing so we get these horrors for our BD collections.

Byzantium definitely fell victim to this. The promo poster that did the rounds prior to release is actually fairly decent whereas the BD cover looks like it was whipped up in two minutes.

Depends on the teenager though.

Oh, so this is the source of all those avatars. I kept thinking it was the same guy who changed his avatar everyday. Nope. It's a fan club out in the middle of NeoGAF. The internet's a wild place.

Since this thread was bumped, here are a couple of medium-res stills from Grand Budapest Hotel that popped up on Tumblr a couple of days ago (I was going to wait until higher-res flavours appeared):

Edit: Indiewire's images are slightly higher-res:

Two clips also recently surfaced but Saoirse's character is in neither of them.

IMDb tells me that the film hits theatres here in Australia on April 10th, which is pleasantly surprising; I was expecting May or perhaps even June. I'll probably catch it over the Easter long weekend (hopefully I don't have to trek into the city for the privilege).

Edit: Another two, which will be familiar if you've seen the trailer (more here):

Firstly, a bit of news:
Parallel Films’ production of Brooklyn starring Saoirse Ronan and Domhnall Gleeson will begin filming in April in Wexford and Canada.

Secondly, The Grand Budapest Hotel premiered in Berlin earlier today (here's the review thread), so pics (higher-res images from the premiere itself should pop up soon):

Photocall (more here):

Press Q&A (more here):

Premiere (more here):

And finally, here's a short Q&A with Saoirse from the press event (thanks to El Idiota).

I haven't poked around on Tumblr just yet but I'll edit in any other interviews from the event I happen upon.

Just found the subreddit dedicated to her. Hours lost.

That's not as big as I was expecting... unless I was looking in the wrong place :p

This thread is giving off serious creepy stalker vibes. Is it really necessary to track her every public appearance?

It's just her public appearances related to her professional career. I don't "track" photos of her out and about or those that others manage to pinch from her Facebook/Instragram/etc. account or news about what she's been spending her money on or whatever because that would be weird.

With Classy being perma'd, if this thread is just going to turn into a merry-go-round of me bumping it followed by snarky replies it'd probably be a better idea to let it fall to the back of the forum until other interested parties liven it up.

Edit: I don't mean to suggest that I don't understand why some get the impression that they do -- I'm not oblivious to the vibe that my regular appearances in this thread may give off to those who just know me as "That guy with the Saoirse avatars who posts in the Saoirse thread all the time", so although it rubs me the wrong way whenever people throw around the word "obsessed" or "stalker", I can't exactly blame them for reaching that conclusion.

I'm surprised there is a thread for this girl and there isn't one for Emma Watson or Emma Stone.

She is super talented though to be fair. Does a lot of crap movies though. (The Host...WTF!)

Even taking into account her earliest stuff (films, that is -- I don't really have any interest in seeing the half-dozen or so TV episodes she did) I still believe that The Host is her worst film (overall) to date. Andrew Niccol's post-Gattaca downward spiral is as amazing as it is saddening.

It would be pretty shameful that this thread dies just because some people find this creepy.

But that thread of yesterday that was locked at page 10 (50ppp) was totally not creepy, right?

I don't see how being a fan of an actress would be creepy? Most of the news is public knowledge and the images are easily obtainable.

It's no different than being a fan of, say, Rihanna.

Why can't I hold all these Saoirse movies? Thanks, JaseC!

BTW, so Penguin was banned? Did he say that he liked the original poster for How I Live Now again?
