Expected isn't it? Returnal sold less than a million in the first year. This type of game (3rd-person, bullet-hell, roguelike) doesn't seem to really have that much wide appeal.

I do wonder if this would have better legs than Returnal.

Reminder that Alinea underestimated Yotei too.

My guess is this will sell about the same as Returnal did, which makes sense given that it pitches to the same audience.

Yeah, this one will be ported to PC just as Returnal was, eventually.
Returnal likely sold less than 100k copies on Steam, if you take out the %30 owed to Valve that amount is basically peanuts and probably not worth it.

It should actually sell somewhat better, because the PS5 install base is now 10 times larger and there haven't been any major blockbuster releases lately that would have overshadowed the release.

Unlike Yotei Saros didn´t set the charts on fire so we know it didn´t sell a lot anyway.

Returnal had not much competition when it released and a lot of players who bought it out of curiosity probably weren´t too fond of the game design. I expect Saros to sell a lot less than Returnal.

Overpriced for what it offers. Shocking. They really saw Returnals garbage sales and said yeah lets do a reskin of dat and price it the same, surely ppl will massively buy it? Its ok, Sony will use this as an example to keep pursuing gaas shit because theyre fucking retarded.

We're talking about a niche release even by the standards of the genre (roguelike sold at $70).

Sometimes 1P isn't about selling loads of copies, otherwise Nintendo would have canned the Metroid franchise ages ago.

In my defense I am seeing websites and other forums reporting these news so I thought it was fine. Good to know! Thanks
It's not your fault, years of secrecy by publishers and platforms have created an information vacuum that is being filled by bad armchair analysts and YouTubers.

My rule of thumb is any time someone comes out with numbers on a recently discussed or controversial game, take them with a bucket of salt.

And we know this how? April charts only had a small fraction of the game's week 1 sales.

Returnal reached a million copies and was deemed profitable enough to do Saros. Now Saros released with assured asset reuse from Returnal (meaning it likely cost the same or less) and will likely hit a million in its lifetime. The game is doing fine for a niche title that's launching in a very very competitive year.

I personally plan on buying it when it gets on sale as I have way too much of a backlog to play.

By looking at the charts. The game dropped like a rock the second week.

Possible, who knows?

Just keep in mind that charts are determined by other titles' performances as well as it's all relative position. It's entirely possible for a Saros to sell much less than a Crimson Desert, but still make its needed numbers.

We are in a very quiet period of the year. The overall numbers aren´t high.
