If could make a suggestion for those of you who are mourning but don't know exactly what to do. This might sound appealing to you.
Caring and tending for something that embodies someone you've lost is a really good way to cope with loss and helps with the grieving process. Plants are extremely therapeutic and healing. Specifically tending to and growing a plant is simply a good thing, it is constantly filtering air and so much more.
Try going to the store and picking out a plant that you think Mr Iwata would like or that you think embodies him or that just seems special to you. Find a special spot in your yard (or in a pot on a windowsill) and plant it in memory of him. Take care of it and depending on what you planted it could last for years, it could cover the ground for you to lay on with your Gameboy or it could tower over you and provide shelter for you as a tree for you and your kids to play under. It could be a cactus plant that would last the rest of your life or a flower that blooms only at night.
I am a community garden manager and I would be willing to help anyone with this as best as I can. Specifically with what soil to use for what plant and you can PM me if you ever have any problems or questions now and in the future and I will try to help you as best as I can.

I think so too, if you think about it it explains why Reggie said that Iwata wasn't actually apologizing, because he must have known how bad Iwata was doing.
I like to hope that Iwata wanted to save the major things for when it was developed more and he felt better. I'm sad he'll never get the chance now.

This is not a real website, more of an "Onion" for video game news.
It's such a tragedy to see someone so talented go at such a young age. Seeing the outpouring of adoration people have shown upon hearing the news, I can't help but feel like this is the end of a really special chapter in Nintendo's history. You can argue he made some missteps along the way, but when I look back and think about what Nintendo has put out while he was in charge, it really hits home what we've lost today.
Well, to be fair I'm impressed by how much of a failure of a human being that guy is.

To see everyone being so invested in the life of someone they never met is kind of weird and foreign to me. That said, Iwata always seemed like a cool guy in the Nintendo Direct videos. His influence in the industry was quite frankly, unmatched. RIP Satoru Iwata.

That' a really nice suggestion, thank you.
One of the things I'll remember fondly about Iwata is as he went further along, he got closer and closer to the fans. He'd come on videos, get real personal, introduce the games himself sometimes, and show genuine enthusiasm. He'd do that Iwata Asks stuff and it was some of the more detailed and mind-broadening retrospective on game development there's ever been in the industry.

Look how aged and sick he was few weeks ago, and still working. He knew his death was close, but instead of being at home, he decided to do what he loves the most: work!!!

It's the same to me but I still am crying regardless. He touched and influenced a lot of lives. It might seem foreign to be feel this way about a guy maybe not many of us have met but Iwata certainly deserves it.

It's basically a guaranteed death. Just found out from my parents that my aunt's mother had it years back. Was diagnosed and was dead within two months.

Just got back to my hotel. First surgery went well. I'm sore as hell. Groggy. I still feel so much sorrow for all of this. It's hard moving past this, despite my own issues.
I wish i was back home so I could play Nintendo games. I've been trying to read articles about his career. I watched Jim Sterlings video. Just trying to whatever I can to mourn, given my situation.
This thread has helped a lot. Reading others posts etc. I know some are having a hard time with this. I can't stop feeling awful. I feel so selfish for not agreeing focusing so much on not agreeing with Iwata in the last 5 years. I know it's fine to have disagreed with Iwata with the job he was doing and still love and respect him. But I wish I had put aside the cynical/angry bullshit and from time to time also focused on what a great person he was and all he decisions I did agree with. All of his successes.
This is a big wake up call for me, to start treating people as people. Again, fine to be critical and view things on a business level. But I want to be more mindful of the people behind these jobs and not always 100% focus on this from a consumer/business/product side.

It seems he had the worst case where even surivovrs get just 5 years to live at best. Some people linked an article some page ago. Also they explained that type of cancer just suck your life out of you because it prevent your body to get nutriments from food.
That's why Iwata lost so much weight it seems.

While there will never be anyone who can fill his shoes, I have faith that we will continue to see Mr. Iwata's vision for the future come to fruition in the next few years. NX, amiibo, DeNA, and QoL are all his initiatives and Nintendo is very much still operating under his leadership in a sense.
It's a testament to how much I've enjoyed Nintendo under his guise that I continue to remain excited about the company's future even in the wake of his untimely end. I think we're seeing a new Nintendo and the changes started while Iwata was still alive.
