My condolences. I may not have agreed with every single decision he made for Nintendo but the man was hugely likable and respectable. He will most certainly be missed! ;(
 
Really sad about this.
He had an incredible career and did a lot for the company. No wonder Yamauchi chose him, can only imagine what he could have done if he lived as long as him.
A huge loss for Nintendo and the gaming world, hope it won't be too much of an impact in the future.
 
Damn... I never liked how he handled Nintendo as president, but I always respected him for his contributions to the industry and because he used to be a programmer during the NES days.

The man LOVED what he did. He was not just a suit. He had passion.

R.I.P. Mr. Iwata. Thank you for everything.
 
This is sad news. Was leaving Comic Con when I found out about this. Tried to get back in to the Nintendo booth, but security wouldn't let me through.

I heard he was getting months ago and then forgot about it. This is a huge loss for everyone who has ever played a video game. RIP
 
RIP Iwata.

Condolences to his family and friends. Definitely an unexpected and sudden loss to not only Nintendo but also the gaming industry.
 
Oh my God... I'm absolutely speechless. So sudden and unexpected.

R.I.P. to a true legend of the industry, him and his family and friends are in my prayers.

Makes me really sad to think that we will never again get Iwata asks, or him presenting games "directly to" us :(
 
Growing up and watching the people who made your childhood fun pass away is always an awful feeling. RIP Iwata, I may not play much Nintendo games since I was little but the gaming industry will not be the same without him.

Apparently not, since saw the Japanese announcement too on the official site. News is making its rounds here also.
 
it seems that miyamoto and takeda will be co-presidents for the interim. i wonder if iwata's health was the real reason why e3 events have been digital the last three years.
 
Holy shit. I can't believe. I just heard about it from a friend and thought he was joking. But, here it is. My jaw literally dropped.

So sad. ;-;
 
Oh man, I feel horrible about all the bad things I said about Nintendo's leadership the past few months.

RIP Satoru Iwata :(

I'm proud to have bought the last Nintendo console under your helm.
