Scalper bots ‘slowly starting to lose interest in PS5’, report suggests

Lol, scalpers haven't been botting these in around a year now.

The information in that article is a complete joke and looks like he's just randomly selected items he has heard in passing would be hard to get.

hopefully he's not insinuating that the opposite party has any exclusives of value.

Nah they just relocated the bots to Sweden, still $1000 here.
It'll be interesting to see if they manage to drive the prices up on the RTX 4000 serie too, the 4090 is already $2000+ msrp.

I was interested in a PS5 for awhile, but now I that I have upgraded my PC, I don't really see a point. My only concession would be for Ghosts of Tsushima, but I can wait for a PC port. Was going to buy a Series S as a streaming box, but I think I am going to just buy an Nvidia Shield Pro instead. I might end up running a fiber optic link from my PC to my TV ala LTT for couch gaming at some point. Some games are better on a big screen.

Ah, seeing this thread I went to look up my local store. They are available now.
Good, that means I can get one with my PSVR2 when it comes in. So time to save up for that.

Incidentally, that makes two of us.
If I was ever temporarily tempted to get myself a PS5 as a media center to replace my current PS4 Pro (as it happen a couple of times during the COVID era, especially BEFORE I managed to get my hands on a RTX3080ti), now that interest is completely gone.
Maybe when I'll be able to get a used one for cheap.

Here in Austria is is still hard to get one.
A colleague from work is trying but whenever they are available online they are gone within minutes due to bots.

My local Gamestop in Virginia seems to have them somewhat often now. Been there twice in 3 weeks for Switch games and the employee was trying to sell me a PS5.

currently available online and have been for 2 of 3 days ar gamestop
sony has loads of units in the US, going to have little trouble selling 18 million but all the they would have sold 30 million in a year if the units were available people are going to be proven wrong

You are not missing much honestly as everything recently is either coming to PC or cross-gen.

The first time a couple weeks ago, I showed up at Gamestop right before they opened. 6 people were waiting outside. I figured it was a PS5 shipment so I just left and came back late afternoon. That's when the employee told me they got the system in and still had some available if I was interested.

I almost impulse bought it but resisted since I plan to wait another year or so when more games I'm interested in are available.

selling out in days not hours now, probably going to be hard to find next month but once the holiday rush is over we'll probably see plenty of ps5 on shelves come February, after which it will maintain ps4-like demand
