Scarlet Nexus has reached 2 million players worldwide

I personally enjoyed my time with this game and the combat is really fun and has nice depth to it.

I hope it sells 2 million. The director for SN has been posting about it every day for 489 days straight on twitter and even replies to any mentions of the game in their respective language to express his gratitude.

Great game, anyone whose hesitant on this and has Game Pass, definitely well worth a shot.

Definitely not the best JRPG around but well worth putting a few hours in to see if it's your bag or not.

I went through it. I enjoyed it but it was not that great. biggest offense is being insanely repetitive.

I jumped in on this based of Jan Ochoa's recommendation on the Bombcast and was not disappointed. Great game.
It's a beautiful and definitely worth trying, even if you're not a huge RPG person.

Ngl I'm really turned off by recent BN games. Code Vein was awful, Tales of Arise is my least favorite Tales game outside of the battle system, and I didn't enjoy the demo for this game.

JP Account mentions that the worldwide shipments and DL sales have crossed 1M and the cumulative player count including Xbox & PC Game Pass Users crosses 2M.

1M exclusively through Game Pass is pretty good

Yeah, seems like there's a 1 : 1 ratio of people who may have bought it to people who played it via Game Pass.

Hopefully MS cut them a pretty damn good cheque to keep the game on the service for a year or more.

I didn't finish this. The combat felt fine but I wasn't really all that bought into the game or gameplay. Maybe I give it another shot soon.

Says players not sales.
We should use this measurement for all games imo.

People who buys games used are technically a player and not sale because the developer gets zero from used copies of the game unlike game pass where they at least give some money from Microsoft.

Great game, deserves it. Sequel now please, with the improvements it really needs in terms of level design and cutscenes

Looks like they are happy with the performance on xbox and PC game pass considering the shoutouts. Congratulations to Microsoft

Fun combat, boring dialogues and very basic level design. But its a fun romp.
Yeah that's a good summary, loved the game but could always use some improvements. The combat system becomes really interesting once you progress the game and unlock all the assists and skills.

I hope MS brings more of this type of JP games to GP. I doubt it costs much (especially a couple months after release) and it bring a different type of games.

Yeah combat is legit awesome, even. Real time switching between helper powers, and mid combo. Applying oil/water? (depending on lead char) and throw down fire/lightning. Finish moves were cool as well.

I believe they all had their use. Clarvoyance could see invisible enemies and would be great at max level. Stealth would help against certain matchups as well. Duplication was always OP.

Don't know how you can spin this as a success, because this is absolutely laughable attach rate
When a new movie from Netflix gets 1/10th of its subscribers to watch it I'm not sure thats really a failure..

Scarlet Nexus is an anime JRPG that didn't even come day and date. No surprise its not going to blow away with attachment rates on Xbox. I dont know why you have to view it as a bad thing lmao. They're clearly satisfied with it or they wouldn't be mentioning it.

I'm not even sure they count used games in their figure. Doesn't make sense to say you've sold 5 copies if it's actually just 1 copy that's been distributed 5 times

Gameplay is pretty damn fun in this but the story is so damn bad that I couldn't bring myself to finish it. Good for them though haha

Gameplay was good but my God was the story unsufferable even for JRPGs standards. The game has gone like it came, like a fart in the wind.

It was a weird call-out imo. I think Microsoft and Bandai are trying to cultivate an audience on xbox, how well that works who knows? Feels like a slightly uphill battle but gamepass does help lowering the barriers.

They're probably happy with the players coming into the eco system (and buying DLC stuff) and likely the cheque MS gave them for the deal.

More (or same #) people played it on game pass than bought it at retail. Unlike that news about Oddworld developer saying their experience was a disaster, the studio here seems to be happy with the outcome, hence the specific name-called shoutout.

Opportunistic console war dig aside, are you really surprised a game received more money for being on Game Pass than a game being on PS+?

That game is multi platform now it just landed on one service at launch, no console war dig here 🤦‍♂️

And they haven't revealed what the nature of contract is so I don't know how much money they made here.

But I quite enjoyed the game and like I said earlier, i *hope* they got a good deal out of it:

By the metrics you guys love, 4M players for Oddworld.
Mega success!!!

Scarlet Nexus is a good game and deserves the attention. BANDAI NAMCO Studios has been knocking it out the park with Scarlet Nexus and Tales of Arise.

Sure if you want to say that, the developer doesn't feel like that though.

Scarlet Nexus's developers don't seem to mind giving a positive shout out. So the expectations, budgeting and the deals cut were probably very different.

The comparison to the Oddworld dev was a console war dig. Come on. Stop pretending.

Not really, it's the closest comparison of another multi platform game developer commenting about putting their game on a subscription service.

It's only a dig if you're looking for it.
