School gave us chromeboks, they are worthless

I cringed reading that... I remember shitty erasers that would squeak, or even worse... erasers on the back of pencils that are almost done and then the sound/feel of metal scraping against a page...

You made me entirely way too uncomfortable in that sentence,

Or sharpening the penis in one of those wall mounted sharpeners, just for the fucking thing to break the lead off right when you're done.

The fact that you had to come to gaf to complain about it pretty much solidifies the reasons why those restrictions are in place, OP.

I remember those days, go to school and get a list of shit to buy.
Then hit the same stores at the same time with all the others going back to school.
Had to buy pens, colored pencils, loose leaf notebook, loose leaf lined paper (and don't dare get the wrong line spacing), dividers, calculator, and other shit. It made for an exciting night.
Then try to organize that stuff and figure what to wear to school.
It is a traumatic experience to go from wearing bathing suits 18 hours a day to having to find clean underwear.
Anyone ride the bus the first day of middle school? I did and it was embarrassing as hell.

I figured I was grown up (just graduated from elementary school) and deserved a ride in a nice car. Besides none of the females I had grown to desire rode the bus.

People like middle school you are the causes of climate change
/s

It never bothered me. Most of my friends were on my bus in middle school even.

I thought you couldn't create a thread when you were juniored? By that post count and join date, he shouldn't have the ability to create a thread.

Also, I don't know any teenage chefs. Am I missing something here???

Please tell us more

That grind lmao

As a person from a third world country where 80% of my country can't read... This is a pretty disgusting thread. The chromebook is very valuable if you have a decent internet connection... Using the chromebook and google drive Along with google docs and google spreadsheets is something i wish we could bring to my country for educational purposes.

Agree. Chromebooks are awesome. I have one and I like it better than my windows laptop brick.

As far as I know, there isn't any real criteria for going from a Junior Member to Member. The post count and join date are just a guideline.

I don't understand how any public school district does not have loanable laptop computers available for students to access.

Some school districts especially in the south are very very poor. Like not having enough books poor.

Not just the South. We're in best-in-the-country Massachusetts and my fiance and I bought 15 copies of To Kill a Mockingbird because the school didn't have enough the previous semester and didn't order new ones. We didn't get reimbursed, but they were like $3.50/ea through Amazon bulk so I didn't really care. But still.

*edit*

This isn't strictly a budget issue, it's a bull shit issue... people not doing their jobs, nobody caring to order any new books, and having absolutely no mechanism for making sure kids return the books at the end of the year. There's a culture of zero expectations for some of the students.

What? No, from what I've heard it's an enforced limit. 300 posts and 3 months, and then you become a Member.

What's your secret, OP?

It's a test. They want to see if OP is smart enough to get past the restrictions they've put in place. If he is, they'll tell him about the Matrix.

I would say the privacy concerns are very legitimate, especially if ti involves underage children (and OP is not in college).

That said restrictions seem reasonable considering it's a homework device. OP has a misleading thread title.

Cover the camera. I'm sure you had thought of that yourself before you posted.

Monitoring your emails seems a bit intrusive but they aren't going into every ones email every night to see what they're doing unless of course

  1. You are being highly disruptive and causing a scene within the school.
  2. Mr. Finkle is just checking in on Krystal to make sure she is doing her, um, homework.

Remote camera monitoring? Fuckin hell. Don't use that shit.
Guess no one cares about remote camera spying and email spying. Ripe for some pedo to use it. I dunno, just seems like it.

On the bright side, you can still use it to read up on the wonders of correct punctuation, spelling, and capitalization.

Make those lemons into lemonade.

IIRC it's 90 days past join date and 300 posts to become a member, unless that has changed.

*shrug* I remember a mod saying it wasn't a hard rule. Like if a junior member PMed a mod about becoming a member after reaching that threshold they would probably laugh.
