Scott Peterson verdict today

Status
Not open for further replies.
Jury in the Scott Peterson trial should deliver a verdict in a few hours.

Possible outcomes:

1st degree murder with death penalty
2nd degree murder with 2 consecutive sentences of 15-30 years
Acquittal on all charges

I'm going with 1st degree.

I think he will walk too. Not enough concrete evidence that he did it. Not saying that he didn't, but the evidence doesn't seem to be there.

First tragedy, then farce.
I think he did it, but would have a really hard time sending someone to jail based on so much circumstancial evidence. If I was on a Jury I think I would aquit.. reasonable doubt is just that, and while his action seem suspect as hell, they dont prove anything. Plus how are you supposed to act when your wife is killed? Im not sure I am in any position to say what is or isnt normal in such unusual circumstances.

Well stooge. If he actually cared about his wife and wasn't cheating on her and talking about how he 'lost' her before she was even dead, then I might agree with you. The guy is so guilty it isn't even funny. I was all for letting OJ walk, but Petersen I have to say is guilty in the worst way.

Completely agree. If anyone has been following closing arguments, the prosecution hit the defense with a huge right hook after Peterson's attorneys argued that if Peterson had killed his wife, there were no physical signs of a struggle on Scott Petersen's body. Unfortunately for the defense, the prosecution had a videotape all cued up showing Peterson holding up his hands with cuts on them the day after Laci disappeared.

You have to have evidence that the guy did it. If the marriage was fucked up, of course he is going to say he lost her. He might be a jerk, but that doesn't mean he killed her. There is no direct evidence that he killed her. He might have been happy she was dead, but that doesn't mean he killed her.

I think he'll be acquitted. Geragos is just too crafty. Granted, I'm saying this after watching zero news coverage of this thing in about six months.

Whats the evidence to pove he is not innocent?

that's not relavent. Like it's been said, they unfortunately have little to no direct concrete evidence that he did it. Everyone "knows" he did it, but there's little more evidence here then there would be to convict the parents of Jon Bonet.

Evidence to prove someones guilt is not relevant in a court of law? :lol

Fortunately, American justice requires more than someones gut feeling to convict someone. Otherwise we may as well start calling each other witches and sorcerers and burn people at the stake and forgo trial by jury.

forgive me, I misread what you said, I thought you typed "what evidence is there to prove he is innocent." But I think the rest of my post agrees with you anyway.

I can't wait until this thing is over so I can stop hearing about it.

This'll probably put Dan Abrams and Greta Van Susteren out of a job, though. :p

I highly suggest some of you watch 12 Angry Men.

Sure, he probably did it. The evidence doesn't take away reasonable doubt though, and someone has to be guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

I wondered as much after the fact. You seem to be one of the more intelligent posters on the board.

Thats exactly my point.. much like OJ I would expect a big civil suit and for him to have basically no money for the rest of his life. In civil court the reasonable doubt clause is taken away and in that case I think I would reward her family with money.

They'll never get the money and it's not what they're after anyway. OJ has never paid a dime to Nicole Brown or Ron Goldman's family, regardless of being found guilty in the civil suit.
