Girl looks so like an ex of mine circa 2001 😂

Replaying reminds me how much more likable she is in this compared to her stubborn cuntiness in part 2. She says thank you. She’s compassionate. There’s inflection in her voice. She doesn’t speak under her breath after taking Valium.

Stark difference.

Indeed they did her personality dirty in FW just like they ruined Ellie in LoU2!

It's a massive upgrade.I have only just started it, and the only complaints I have is the cutscenes look a bit weird, and the lip sync is pretty bad

I don’t remember this side quest whatsoever so maybe one of you will. It’s called “Acquired Taste” and it’s located here.

It’s basically a long bounty hunting side quest where this weird dude in a shack instructs you to bring him the blood of various of machines for him to drink 😬

I don’t remember this scene let alone this quest. The callout to the sequel. Everything. Has this always been here? Am I tripping?

Always been there, and it's pretty popular side quest of the game actually

EDIT : about the reference to Forbidden West in the dialogue, I don't remember. I know Forbidden West was referenced in the first game, but I don't remember if it was in that quest.

EDIT2 : Yes it was https://horizon.fandom.com/wiki/Acquired_Taste

The way they've handled Trophies is a bit odd. I imported my save and I was in the DLC area at level 58. As soon as I hit level 59, all of the level trophies (except 60, obviously) popped one after the other. Replayed the final mission of the main game, and got the trophy for having
recruited all allies
and for completing the game. None of the combat-related or hunting ground ones seem to pop after doing them again though.

Holy shit. Somehow over three playthroughs I never took on this quest 😂 Christ I suck

Agreed. The story in HZD was great; HFW's was fair to middling. I also loved the combat in HZD and was disappointed with the changes they made in HFW (more aggressive machines, more reactive, less strategic). I also disliked what they did with the Cauldrons. And although female-first perspective was evident in the first game, it made more sense there; I found it more obtrusive in the second, less believable, and by the time the expansion rolled around, it seemed like nearly everyone was a lesbian, lol. The graphics and sidequests were better in the second game, though, that's for sure.
Forbidden West is being highly under sold for the improvements it has. Its much better than its given credit for.

Its clear going back to the first game there are QOL improvements missing that massively improve the gameplay mechanics. The grappling hook and glider makes exploration more fun, and the option to add items to storage improves the inventory system. The melee combat and skill tree system is much better. There is actual combos and more weapon variety, with each weapon having a secondary feature. Skill trees even have different special abilities that you can build through combat, with a cool anime like animation once activated running in real time.

The devs made it a point of emphasis in order to upgrade weapons or outfits, you have to shoot off specfic parts or risk those being destroyed if you kill the machine first. That makes the combat more strategic and doesnt allow you to spam arrows or explosives. There more rare parts come from the most dangerous machines. The lore in the first game explains how the machines become more agressive and dangerous as time pass.

Alloy is actually bisexual, she had relationship dialogue options for both sexes. They gave players a choice to choose if you wanted a same sex relationship, it wasnt forced. None of the romance is forced on the player, but both sexes subtlety flirt with her.

Another thing I’m glad they didn’t mess with. The map/menu theme is Mass Effect galaxy map tier to me.
Not only the audio. The map is actually... useful. Sure, you can't tilt the camera or anything like that, but by moving the cursor around, you can figure out heights and such. This is sadly quite rare these days, maps can be completely useless.

If you liked HFW's combat more, cool. I didn't like HFW's combat as much, for reasons I mentioned earlier and also because the game suffered from a "more is better" approach, which was quite evident in combat (as well as elsewhere). In combat, they threw in a ton of new weapons (none of which were that interesting), a slew of new arrow types, a bunch of new machine resistances to consider, and multiple upgrade paths for each weapon. To me, this just overcomplicated and screwed up the combat system of the first game. Sometimes less is more. They also neutered some of the weapons I had fun with in the first game.

But if you like it, that's fine. Combat styles are often a matter of preference.

Hated the sequel and in fact couldn’t make it past 7 hours. Loved the first so for 10 bucks to revisit the beautiful world sounds like a decent deal. I’m just done with the if it could be called franchise. Feel like Horizon should have been a one and done. Awesome mystery and cool combat in a gorgeous world but it seems Sony wants to shove this series up gamers asses. I miss Killzone.
Problem was Killzone was ahead of its time. Had they made that in the ps4 era it would be more popular than horizon imho. I wish they gave it a reboot and focused on single player campaign even

Same with resistance fall of man…

True, but I always figured she'd be into huffin' the muffin', so the FW DLC gave me no freakouts. Come on, let the girl at least have a kiss every now and then.

Few hours in. Well worth the upgrade fee. If you've never played this game before, this is an amazing remaster. Only seen 1 persistent bug in the settings so far. Some text appearing over top of some other text.

I think the issue I had with HFW is that the actual "shooting of parts" seemed to be just annoying at not fun, due to how aggressive the enemies are.

Like, you had to stop, slow down time, shoot an insane amount of times for a bullet sponge enemy, hope you don't kill them first to get the parts, etc.

I wish the game focused less on the slowed down component of the hectic gameplay because it always felt really jarring to me.
