Why wouldn't it continue to grow? There's almost always been an ugly, nationalistic/"borderline" racist underbelly of the republican party. Trump merely emerged at the right time to perfectly take advantage of it. Whether he is removed from office or not, the GOP isn't going to stop being vehemently opposed to illegal immigration, stop being offended/scared of diversity, etc. That breeding ground is ripe for alt right conversion. And until the republican party drastically changes their primary process, specifically by removing southern states from the beginning of the process, Trump-like candidates will continue to gain traction. We're not going to simply go back to a day where Bush types waltz to the nomination.
This isn't just happening to older people in this country BTW. The alt right is sweeping up younger, white conservatives as well as "both sides are corrupt" burnouts. White men who feel society has marginalized them and decide to take out their anger on minorities and women.
While I sympathize with "Never Trump" conservatives, they need to deal with the fact that the GOP created this monster over the period of decades and it's not going to go away when Trump goes away.

Of everyone on Fox News, the toadies on Fox and Friends are the ones that I despise the most.
I hate this kind of people that throw everyone like them under the bus just to make a name for himself. We have one example like this here in Brazil, where a gay, black guy coming from a poor background got together with right wing bigots and started to fight against the black, gay and poor people agenda, and because of that last year he was elected in São Paulo as a city councilman.
