I've been wanting to delve into a game that I never really played much of.
Produced by Makoto Uchida of Golden Axe fame.
It'd be interesting to see a top 10 GAF Meagdrive games. Shall we do a poll?
Also, would "FMV's do what Nintendont" be a good subtitle for a Sega CD thread?
Any game where you can run down the street at 60mph as a normal character is a good game.

Yeah, we can do a poll.
Would UK Mega Drive games work on a Genesis Model 2?
Yep.Afaik every MD/Genny game that was released before 1992 should be region free. After 1992 it depends. Some are region free, many are region locked.
... How in the world do you make a top 100 games without, at minimum, including Sonic 2 and/or Sonic 3 & Knuckles? That's crazy! And they should be in the upper parts of the list, too. Mega Turrican and Sonic 1 would also make my top 100. Landstalker, Golden Axe, Shadow Dancer, Aladdin, Streets of Rage 2, Lightening Force, The Adventures of Batman & Robin, Lunar 2 (SCD), and Silpheed (SCD)
Incidentally, I just picked up Alien Storm (for MD), Shinobi 3 and Ranger X (these for the Genesis) today (even though I already had thought I won't buy any more retro this month). But it was a good deal, so.. gonna play Alien Storm! Also been wanting to get Shinobi 3 for a long time. Ranger X is a completely unknown game to me but it looks fun.
I think I've gotten to the point where I stopped caring about clickbait articles like that.
Ranger X is great. Total graphical showpiece. I hope you have a 6 button controller though, as the game controls much better with one. Hell, it'll improve the Shinobi 3 experience as well. Totally worth the investment.
I dunno, I'd like to think Bosman at least would have good respect for the classics. (At least, whichever ones he actually played.)Most of these "gaming journalists" are in the age range fro 20-25 so it seems typical that they would compile a list, really, of modern classics. From here on out this is what I expect.
These are the type of people that make these list.

Managed to grab a copy of Beyond Oasis and the combat in this game is damn fun. Played past the first dungeon and I am really enjoying it so far.
I could never get over the reused SoR sound effects in BO. I'm no stranger to asset reuse amongst games of that era ('sup Quintet), but it was just jarring there. I remember thinking, "Why does this monster sound like Donovan when he dies?"
This has been going on for way longer than when journalists of those ages were active. Classic example would be when I read a huge Contra retrospective in a magazine in the early 2000's (this was around when Shattered Soldier came out). Most of the pages were dedicated to Contra 3, with Hard Corps receiving little more than a mere footnote, and from what was written it was evident they had barely even spent any time with the game. And whenever you read some article about the Genesis or Genesis games in retro-related media online, they just have to throw in some back-handed compliment when describing it, without fail. I can't think of any other successful system that gets consistently treated this way.

Cool! Beyond Oasis is a short game but very fun, one of my favourites 16-bit games ever. You're in for a treat.Managed to grab a copy of Beyond Oasis and the combat in this game is damn fun. Played past the first dungeon and I am really enjoying it so far.

Sega CD Community Thread |OT| Pretend it's a Game
I really don't understand why A) we're considering a separate Sega CD thread when this thread encapsulates all the Genesis add-ons just fine, and B) why the NES thread's monthly game thing is staying in that thread when the Saturn OT's attempt at that went with separate threads.
Just seems backwards to me...
And yet the 32X is still relegated to this one? It has several games worth talking about, obviously it should get its own thread as well.
This is a really stupid move, to be blunt. You're just going to splinter discussion.
Well, no one's forcing you to use it.
I imagine somebody probably would pipe up, if I wanted to keep discussing Sega CD here.Well, no one's forcing you to use it.

I look at it this way. Either it will pull in more members keeping the discussion flowing. Or, it will be active at first, then slowly whittle away to nothing and conversation will end up back here. Either way I don't care, I'll go where the Sega talk is.
I've somehow acquired 48 Sega CD games throughout my life. I rock.
I prefer 3 over 2. 2 is still fun but it's a little too derivative of 1 but with some slightly worse execution. 3 at least does something a little different even if it doesn't quite reach the perfection of 1.
How I'd rank the Splatterhouse franchise:
1
3
Winpaku Grafiti
2
Reboot

Not sure if anyone has posted about this already, but Good Will's online shop has some gems if you are willing to sift through it's pages.
Sadly, I can't take advantage myself because I'm outside the U.S...

I like the first one.
I'll see what other people think of these titles and will pick the one thats most popular.
Maybe show some pictures of Sonic CD, Snacther, and Night Trap for the opening post?
Road Avenger looks like it could be ridiculous fun. Is it available on any other systems? I have no idea if my Sega CD works or not as I don't have any of the cables for it, nor a CRT anymore.
That opening gives me chills, I couldn't believe my eyes when I first played it. It's like a classic interactive 80s anime.
It's by the same studio that did Fist of the North Star. Funny how both of them cover the respective ends of the spectrum for Mad Max inspiration.

It was released on iOS back in 2011 as Road Blaster. It played pretty well, but unfortunately, it's been removed from the app store.
