Altered Beast has its place in history, but does not really have any reason to be re-visited now. Its very ok, nothing fundamentally wrong with it, just really by-the-books and boring.
There have been worse pack-ins. Like Keith Courage. The Gameplay is stiff and awkward. Some people really love it & some despise it. I fall in the middle. Cool looking console box art when it was packed in, but I always felt a better game could have been packed in that year.

Everyone hating on Altered Beast has not embraced their spirit animal.
Speaking Altered Beast, this is the coolest shit I've ever seen:
I think Altered Beast is pretty bad.
And "Rise from your Grave!".I played through Altered Beast again recently. Yeah, it kinda sucks now but I still had some fun with it. It's also really short. Plus "Welcome to your doom!" is classic.
Moonwalker & Phantasy Star II that hooked me
The other day on twitter Yuzo Koshiro posted a few original voice sample files from SOR2 to his dropbox account. This is the clearest I've ever heard them sound, lol

Alright, you mentioned your love for this game before. Explain! Checking every area for children just burns me out on this game.
man as an MJ fan i was all over this, and the midis were just amazing - i feel like the badass smooth criminal video wasn't even that old yet and BAM the game starts and you're playin it!
ive actually played it enough to mostly remember where the kids are, but looking about is half the fun - especially when you realize that nearly every level from 2-1 (i wanna say?) on, if you rescue the right kid first, you can trigger cyber-micheal, the deathbot! i just can't tire of it, and ive still never had a chance to play the coin-op one either...just like ESWAT.
Eh, I always thought the arcade version had better FM synth.

It's a pretty good game. Nothing like the Genesis one, though - more like an isometric brawler.oh wow, i mean this was gonna be a given but this sounds fantastic
need to hear the rest of the game with it
That's cool! I guess if you knew where most of the kids were it would be a little more enjoyable. I wasn't haten though, I was just curious.
Sonic 1 has the most sales, but if your not counting pack-ins & iirc it was Aladdin. That movie and game was huge back then.

I always thought it was Sonic 2, but I think that was actually Sega's best selling game.
This sounds right. Excluding pack-ins I think it goes Aladdin, NBA Jam and then Mortal Kombat II.
really wish Sonic 3/K would've put up nearly those kinda numbers, too many missed out on the series' peak
It's the worst stage in the game but I did like some of the stages after that plus it actually did have the hardest finale stage compared to the other Genesis Sonic games since you had no rings.S2 starts out strong but falls off a cliff by Metropolis Zone imo.
Plus dat Sky Chase Zone music!!!
S3&K soundtrack alone is better than the whole of S2. Boom, there, I said it.

Honestly at the pace they're going, 2017.Thoughts on the upcoming (when?) Genesis component cable?
