according to http://www.gamefront.de

sorry, no details yet.

The Mega Drive GH was awesome!

My german is good enough to translate "whether treasure is involved is unclear".

Hopefully Sega is publishing and Treasure is developing.

Watch it'll be in 3D with a broken camera and crappy gameplay

*glares at Vectorman and Altered Beast*

How about a version that runs on a 2D plane, side scrolling, but updated with 3D visuals. Gunstar Heroes was awesome back in the day, but my faith in Sega is just so low...

We need a new Guardian Heroes. 4 Player in story mode. Also have Vs. mode return. And a remix of the Stage 1 music.

Yes.

I have no faith left in Sega, and an NDS version will be riddled with gimmicks.

Yeah, it would be "Sega's Gunstar Super Heroes Starring Mario and Wario".

I'll stick with my idea of a 2D side scrolling game play with 3D visuals, and yes, on the PSP would be icing! *fingers crossed*

i'm sure they're working with treasure, just as they did with astro boy and advance guardian heroes. and i fervently hope this isn't on ds. in fact i can't even be happy about this news until i know it isn't on ds.

Great game. Needs to be on a platform made by a company that supports 2D, that's for sure.

Very true...SCEA wouldn't allow the game on the PSP anyway...(ZOMG A DS VERSION WOULD BE RUINED BY GIMMICKS)

When i read this i got visions of metal slug 3d (btw, was it canned? hope so) but Treasure did astroboy omega factor and guardian heroes for Sega, so it's very likely they'll work on this sequel.

In the same page, Gamefront also states a new solomon's key is in development.
Good, Tecmo can't possibly screw that.

No amount of illogical fandom can keep my hopes for this game down.

If you really like Gunstar Heroes, you don't give a fuck what system it comes out on; the fact that Sega isn't lame enough to let this sit another 10 years gives me some semblance of hope.

...oh god, if they fuck this up, millions will die. :o

I'm going to play it safe and keep my hopes to a low key. I don't care what platform it'll be on, just the fact that they are making it should be reward enough. Beggars can't be choosers as they say.

Omg that screen makes me nostalgic. Gunstar Super Heroes was fun back in the day. :)

Watch Sega screw it up like they do for every game. Ugh.

If it is for a handheld system it'll be for DS for sure. Gunstar Heroes is not the kind of game that Sony wants for PSP.

I hope that Treasure makes it or it gonna suck.

NOOOOOO! Put it on a good screen! Nintendo handhelds...ruining one sequel at a time.

Nintendo handhelds what?are bad??lololol, its official any console manufactured by Sony is good......others suck immediately.....this board is getting better and better.... :lol

the more i think about it, the less i think it'll be on ds. a gunstar heroes sequel is something masato maegawa has been talking about doing for some time. he's wanted to get the original staff together for it, who would normally be dispersed across a number of projects. so i don't think they'd even do a gunstar heroes sequel if it had to be some half-assed zero budget ds game. it's at least as important to treasure as it is to their fans.

a digression: the last worthwhile 2d shooter exclusive to or best realized on a nintendo console was r type III. twelve years ago. contrast this to the dozens on playstation and playstation 2. even the tiny subset that slipped by scea and was released domestically is enough to outweigh the combined shooter catalogues of the n64, the gamecube, and all of nintendo's portables. 2d fandom is balkanized. i don't care about 2d mario or 2d rpgs or 2d hentai dating games. whatever nintendo's "support of 2d" entails, they haven't done anything for me.

edit: i want it on a console too.

VIDEO GAME SOFTWARE, COMPUTER GAME PROGRAMS, GAME PROGRAMS FORHAND-HELD GAME MACHINES != handheld game

The pic thingy at gamefronte says for use with handheld machines
I went through several Sega trademarks used for console-only franchises (Headhunter, Shining Tears, Virtua Quest, JSRF), and all of them have an allowance for use for handheld games under the "goods and services" category. I think we just need to wait and see.

OMG!! Nooooo.

Sega and Treasure both suck pretty bad nowadays. Do not tarnish the legendary GunStar Heroes!! Do not. Please.
