Try Psychic Detective if you haven't.
It's the same concept but improved.
I never played it since my 3DO died the day it came in.Tell me more. Double Switch is great, too.
Attempting to play Langrisser I & II has been one of the most frustrating gaming experiences I've ever had. It's a fun system and I really enjoyed it for the most part. But in a game where there is no real opportunity to grind, about five battles in, if you haven't accumulated enough experience to class change, and didn't change to the correct class, there's little you can do to overcome the battle.
The game encourages you to run past enemies in the first two levels, allows you to/encourages you to just take out the leaders later on. But this will rob you of precious experience. I restarted my entire game, and played the game gaining more experience, gaining two class changes I hadn't before, and was fairly capable up until two of the boss units where none of my characters could do any damage. With a buff, an overpowered general unit managed to do one point of damage, which would immediately be healed after. This is a battle I restarted once, so would have enough MP to buff my attack to do damage ... which ended up being impossible. I spent at total of 3 hours on this battle.
Experience seems to be more important than anything else in Langrisser. What a disappointing game.
I finished the first game, largely thanks to savestates. I usually went the Fire Emblem route and made sure to keep levels balanced, made sure everyone got a good kill in.
I really enjoyed it. Would I play it again? Uh...
(I was playing Warsong modded to have the JP portraits.)
The SS/PS versions are apparently different from the PC Engine ver., etc. So I'm not sure where Warsong is in terms of game balance. I don't have so much of an issue as making a mistake in battle, as apparently setting myself up for failure later on. I want to play a Saturn game before Chaos Seed arrives though, and ... I'm probably just going to start over on Langrisser. Again.
It's a lot easier for characters to do damage in Fire Emblem ... (It's also a lot easier to die).
I also acquired puyo puyo 2 ... A few "levels" in I can barely control where my puyos go, let along plan some long chain. I didn't expect it to be this difficult (after playing the 15th anniversary edition made by SEGA).
From what I've seen, as is usually the case, Langrisser Genesis/MD had much better music than the remakes.
Anyone tried to use emulation to play Saturn Symphony of the Night?
I have played the PS version so many times and I am looking to mess around with Saturn emulation. My friend had the SotN Saturn version and I always wanted to play though with Maria.
Any problems running this game on the main Saturn emulators?
The PSP version has all that and runs better. As much as I love the Saturn version, I've read the PSP rendered it needless.
SSF, probably.I found a copy of Earthworm Jim 2 for the Saturn at a local charity shop for 50p! Hooray!
I haven't got a Saturn though. What's my best route for PC emulation?
I ran it in SSF years ago without any problems. Even used it to make this cute sig many years ago.Anyone tried to use emulation to play Saturn Symphony of the Night?

Is this a SCART cable for an NTSC Saturn? I'm kinda paranoid about the different pins on the Saturn end of the cable between NTSC Saturns and PAL Saturns. Apparently it's a +5v on one and composite sync on the other...Saturn Scart cable (This cable works with the converter)

EWJ 2 Saturn soundtrack is amazing. Add in a subwoofer and it's crazy amazing.
Anything but Tangerines
Lorenzo's soil <-- dont worry about that ad at the beginning, its the right video.
I read somewhere that SSF actually fixes a lot of the performance issues the game suffers from when running on original Saturn hardware.Anyone tried to use emulation to play Saturn Symphony of the Night?

Maria plays completely differently in the PSP version, actually. The Saturn version of her is really fun and worth playing.
Really? She seemed fine to me. Interesting.
Here is a screen capture of 3 dirty dwarves
This thread is such a nice way to take a break from all the crazy shit happening with these Xbox One/PS4 rumor threads. Everyone in here is so chill.
this game is so amazing. i actually used to keep it in my car as well bc the soundtrack had some really good tracks as well. i wish it would get put on steam or something, it's one of the best 3 player coop games ever made.
Actually the very first was the 3DO version that from what I understand played more as a racing sim while the Saturn/PS1 ports were more arcadey...Yesterday was fun, I was with two friend and then I asked if they wanted to play the very first Road & Track:Need for Speed, since they are car enthusiast, which I am not, they said yes instantly.
Thanks for the link for the RGB cable! Just ordered one.
On that note, something from retro_console_accessories:Maybe someone should post it to the Upscaler & RGB thread since quite a few people there were looking for NTSC compatible Saturn RGB cables.
Not to stop you from getting a SCART cable from that guy. I bought my AR4-in-1 from him, he's legit.retro_console_accessories said:I have now ordered some saturn plugs, but they might not be here til early November as they are coming in from Europe. So I will be adding Saturn scarts in the near future.

YepYeah, wasn't there a PC port too?
yeah, retroGAF is a safe haven during the absolute madness outside...unless you're in the SNES vs Genesis thread, hoo boy

That turned out to be a hell of a lot more one sided than I'd like. It's SEGA's red wedding in there.
I guess that explains why common SNES games are priced so high though. You got games that are as common as rocks going for 20-30 bucks on SNES.
^see that's a weird take for me, talking with a friend/local gaffer tonight who pointed out how the genny was an action box...run-n-gun, beat-em-ups, fighters, SHMUPs, just ninjas and bullets everywhere
it's on my list too, isn't there a Saturn exclusive stage?Aaaaand just bought Quake for no real reason other than I'd put in an eBay Saved Search years ago and got tired of it nagging me.
$20.51 ($17.59 + $2.92 S&H) isn't too bad.

And if you've got a Quake save on your Saturn, it unlocks Deathtank Zwei in Duke Nukem 3D for lots of multiplayer fun.it's on my list too, isn't there a Saturn exclusive stage?

And one of them is basically the Quake version of the Ewok village, taking place around and inside various trees, connected by several bridges and floating platforms. Probably one of the most inspired Quake stages I've ever seen.4 exclusive levels, actually.
Another reason why I'm going ahead with this one before Duke 3D. Not like I have any IRL friends to play DTZ with, though :\And if you've got a Quake save on your Saturn, it unlocks Deathtank Zwei in Duke Nukem 3D for lots of multiplayer fun.
ah, you said genny for action as well, just saw the SNES one, my bad...i guess i was speaking more to the poll thread.
