This and The Simpsons are the GOAT.

Can't wait for the NA release. Definitely gonna be a convenient easy as fuck watch.

It's kinda funny though, anyone starting from the beginning who's heard all the hype might be confused. The show started off pretty close to most generic sitcoms. The show didn't hit its stride til about the 3rd or 4th seasons if I'm not mistaken.

Somebody might start watching it and be like "that's it?".

1st, second and third ep are stil good imo but I'm very biased =P

Such a coincidence btw, I responded to someone tonight with a Seinfeld gif and thought to myself "man, wouldn't it be great to watch every season again, it's been a good while" and a couple hours later I'm welcomed with the very same!

Wierd stuff

This is EXACTLY what I have heard from a friend today.

There are some good episodes here and there till season 2 too (pony, restaurant wait), but boy it takes off from season 3 and never looks back (even the last 2. They have the most quotable lines and are even more hilarious) till the finale. Every single episode is better than almost all episodes of other sitcoms.
The GOAT.

It's on All4 in the UK in HD and free......

Also available in the Philippines. Strangely, I don't know anybody who even knows about Seinfeld here. Time to introduce my wife to the GOAT sitcom.

The 90s was the king of sitcoms. Seinfeld, Fresh Prince, The Simpsons, Married with Children, Cheers, In Living Color, Martin, Home Improvement, etc.

This is great news! By far and away the the comedy show ever created.
Hopefuly eastern Europe will get it as well. It's been a while since i've been "lord of the mannor"...(sorry it's all i could think of :messenger_hushed:)

Always found it pretty meh tbh, is this meant to be the pinnacle of US comedy?
Well, that would be Fraser.... almost. The opposite episode where George gets his dream job puts it over the line for me.

I watched all seasons properly for the first time a few years ago and proceeded to watch it all again straight away. Twice.

The only meh bits are the standup segments. But that is a probably more to do with 90s standup than the show. Thankfully they are only like 20 seconds.

Personally think curb your enthusiasm was funnier than both.

Now watched Seinfeld in years though, ill give it another go

Other than seeing clips here and there I've never watched it. Maybe I'll change that soon.

As people keep saying- bear with first 2 seasons (they are total only 17 episodes anyway). From season 3 onwards every single episode is a classic and nothing else comes even close to the genius and hilarious writing Seinfeld has.

It starts out very slow. The first episode is actually terrible.

Curb is way better though, Larry and his antics actually have me laughing out loud multiple times per episode.

Yep, the first few episodes are enjoyable, but the vibe you get from them is definitely that.

Oh. Then maybe some territories still have it on Prime.
For us it went out long time back.
It's gone now. I checked it out on netflix and oddly enough the picture quality is far worse than prime. Very grainy and slightly greyish picture

I wonder if they'll put "product of its time" warnings before certain episodes that some today might find offensive, or cut certain episodes or edit them for "modern audiences".

I really like looking a all the wardrobe from that time

Tucked in turtlenecks.. rawr..

The person who wrote that article is mentally ill and should be institutionalized.

Give me the first few episodes over the last few, Larry David-free seasons anytime.

It's like trying to judge The Simpsons by its first season. Season 2 is where it really starts to become exceptional already and they more or less held that high standard til at least Season 7, 8, or 9.

Seinfeld fares worse though. There are definitely good episodes here and there at the start, and by Season 3 there's definitely a lot of good stuff, but I still wouldn't consider the show in its prime til Season 4 or 5.

If you look at it that way The Simpsons has it beat. It was more consistent for a longer time. Basically every episode of The Simpsons during that stretch has genius and iconic shit every few seconds.

For me the three GOAT are Simpsons, Seinfeld, and Curb. A lot of other shows that people rant about like Frasier I don't get. I just get really generic sitcom vibes from them.

You can't say Seinfeld's style isn't unique and I think much of the appeal is how all the characters are basically put down and they're all treated like they're idiots more or less most of the time. And that idiotic SJW article someone posted above totally misses the point that this show was made before shit became so PC, that the characters are constantly treated like they're wrong, stupid, insensitive, etc, and that the show revels in its own stupidity. This is the show with fucking Kramer in it. Come the fuck on. The show is meant to be a mockery and enjoys the social commentary, just like Curb after it. The author of that article should instead be lamenting that we can't joke or even mention shit that was normal before.

Watched most of The Barber last night. Good times.

I love when this show is ludicrous and the self references within episodes gets me every fucking time. Like how Edward Scissorhands is somehow just brought up a million times in this one episode, when one of the four makes an offhand comment that they all think is dumb but then they'll quote it or someone else will happen to say the same thing later lol.

"I guess I must be Lois Loan", and this was after Elaine thought what George said was so stupid lmao.

I will say too though that I think the show also dipped a bit in quality towards the end as they started to try way too hard to be quirky and silly. It might just be the last season or two but you could tell the difference.

Anyways that's all I got for now.

OH MY GOD i have to check it out! Seinfeld is THE god series of comedy not this super boring frasier shit.

Wait what?
Yeah 4K Dolby Vision, but I don't know if it's because I'm watching the pilot or if this will be the same for the other episodes, but some scenes look really sharp and then others look like poorly upscaled DVD content. :goog_unsure:
edit: it was just the pilot. second episode (or the real first one :p ) doesn't have upscaled looking scenes

People online are also complaining because there's film grain. I'm sure these people loved the Predator 3D remaster...

The first few are mostly just way too generic. The style wasn't established at all.

And the last season or two definitely started to try too hard.

The Pilot is actually in 4k? Whaaaat?

I'm fine with the picture quality. It's not like I need to see Kramer's hair in 4k HDR lol.

It would be nice to see the show in 4k but I definitely didn't expect that nor do I really care.

It's Seinfeld, I'm very used to seeing it the way it looks.

Is it better than the DVDs? Watching on my phone it's kinda hard to tell. I'll check it out on the OLED later today

Seinfeld is fantastic, but what is wrong with Frasier? There is usually a ton of stuff going on in it, great scripts and well performed; it is a rare example of Americans doing clever comedy... and they did it for 11 seasons.

I don't see how someone could enjoy Seinfeld but not enjoy Frasier.
