Seinfeld on EU Netflix

Seinfeld is fantastic, but what is wrong with Frasier? There is usually a ton of stuff going on in it, great scripts and well performed; it is a rare example of Americans doing clever comedy... and they did it for 11 seasons.

I don't see how someone could enjoy Seinfeld but not enjoy Frasier.
loved frasier.

4K upscale of an older scan. 16:9 cropped.

An issue exclusive to just the pilot, but that one has a lot of film footage lost. Most of what you see comes off an SD beta tape.

Checked this out last night and the quality is terrible. Lots of artifacts arounds the eyes and mouths makes it unwatchable for me.

That's weird. Sure it's grainy which adds to it's charm but artifacts? Sorry to hear man. From my end it's pretty good =/

Maybe it's the german voiceover on TV but the few times I watched it it was always absolutely not funny.

It starts out very slow. The first episode is actually terrible.

Curb is way better though, Larry and his antics actually have me laughing out loud multiple times per episode.

...

I loved the first episode.

Oh sweet have they finally released the HD/4k Original Aspect Ratio versions?? Or are we stuck with the awkwardly zoomed in widescreen ones?

Gotta admit, George is the funniest. Which makes sense because he is based on Larry David. Kramer is cringe a lot of the time.

I've seen a few clips here and there and I've never thought "I need to watch more of this". It definitely didn't take off here in the UK, I don't know anyone that watched it. None of the main cast draw me in.

This clip of outtakes is one that the algorithm pushed a few times over the years, and the way people talk about it act as if Jerry Stiller is the best thing to ever touch comedy. But it's boring as fuck. I didn't like him in this or in King of Queens.

SeAlready on season 3, probably my 5th run.
Image quality looks pristine in 4k. Heard a lot of drama about cropped parts due to aspect ratio, but loving the quality improvement.

I feel bad for you UK fellas and your damaged senses of humor. That clip nearly had me in tears. Jerry Stiller was a comedy king.

I love Seinfeld, it’s so fucking funny and clever.

I find Frasier a little dull tbh, but it’s still pretty good. If pressed I guess I could say I “like” it but meh.

never disliked seinfeld, never loved it either, but this has been so much fun to watch. there is something about the acting, script, writing and atmosphere that give it a unique quality. its just a really well done show and its fuckin funny! ive had it mostly on in the background but ill have to give it a real go soon.

Okay after watching more, I'm enjoying it more again. You just have to get into the flow again. Jerry and George carry the show for sure. Kramer is cringe mostly and Elaine just kinda there. All the subtle differences really make it a 90s show and remind you of why the 90s were really the best era. No social media, no snowflake culture. Just real people.

That and it aired around 2 a.m. here in Germany.
I got into it when I decided to watch original languages of my favorite shows. The English was translated so badly, they not even tried to get the joke transferred.

The best episode for me was when George‘s car broke down on the parking lot at work and because it was always there his boss thought he‘s working day and night. He got promoted but spent most time hiding under his desk which was more like a mini man cave eventually.

UK here and Seinfeld has to be my favourite sitcom ever. Beating off (by a gnats wing I should mention) some of the cream of British comedy, such as Fawlty towers, Blackadder etc.

It is on Netflix Japan now too.

But I don't know what version you guys are seeing but the version I see here has TERRIBLE image quality!

It is both grainy and full of compression artifacts. It is 16:9 though for what its worth.

I have seen the DVD versions of Seinfeld and those look much better. Even if they are 4:3 so I don't know WTF they are doing here. Feels like a lazy or botched conversion

No cell phones. People picking up the phone at home to schedule meet ups with their friends. No text messaging. Its very nostalgic.

I do recall there was one episode where Kramer gets a mobile phone. But it is one of those gigantic ones the size of a briefcase.

I'm in Romania and the image quality (minus ep.1, which was more of a draft when it was filmed) is the best i've ever seen, and i've probably seen this show in every format released.
Seems so strange that apparently some regions got the short end of the stick :messenger_hushed:

Of course it's grainy. It's film grain and if you get rid of it with digital noise reduction everybody starts looking like a wax figure. Did you watch it in 4K? I didn't see any compression artifacts there. I think when People are watching it in HD Netflix is trying to compress the picture and combined with the grain their compression just can't deal with it properly and it creates artifacts.
