"Sellout"Joe Rogan apologizes for spreading conspiracy theories

On a recent podcast Rogan falsely claimed that recent forest fires were politically motivated left wing attacks.
"There is a madness going on there," Rogan said during the Thursday episode. "You want to talk about madness of crowds. That exemplifies that right now. They have arrested people for lighting forest fires up there. They have arrested left-wing people for lighting these forest fires. You know, air quote, activist, and this is also something that is not widely being reported."

Joe issued an apology the next day over instagram, Joe's Apology.
I fucked up on the podcast with Douglas Murray and said that people got arrested lighting fires in Portland. That turns out to not be true. I was very irresponsible not looking into it before I repeated it. I read one story about a guy getting arrested for lighting fires that turned out to be true, but the other shit I read about people getting arrested for lighting fires in Portland was not true. I repeated it without looking into it and it was a really fucking stupid mistake that won’t happen again.
I’m sorry.

With the apology, it begs the question; Is he caving into the pressure and falling in line to appease his Spotify overlord? Will we have a more PC Joe now? Will Joe have to start avoiding guests with controversial opinions ? Spotify has already decided to only host some but not all of Joe's content. Reasons have been vague but fans fear the worst.

You aren't allowed to have your own opinion when you are owned by others. He sold himself to a corporation full of apparent SJW losers so he can be a puppet and mouthpiece for SJW losers and have more wealth.

So only 1 person started a fire according to this puppet? Well 2 if you count Trump and his climate change policy apparently.

There's most certainly a trend in that there are multiple fires intentionally being set by humans. Multiple reports have emerged with photo and video from folks on the ground. I realize it's anecdotal, but it isn't nothing either.

A proper investigation needs to be done before they can pin the fires on Antifa, BLM and other far left loony activists, but I don't think that's confirmed just yet.

Apologizing outright for the claim seems premature though. I would have liked to see some added nuance and clarification, as it completely sidesteps the fact that there are individuals setting forest fires that affect entire swatches of the population, which is a heinous act, no matter what side of the fence you're on.

This really is a war of ideas and information.

JR should have created his own website to host his podcasts. I'm sure it would have made him huge coin with the added bonus of being his own boss.
Time value of money, infrastructure costs, and risk make that a much less attractive option.

After the move, JR should of had Alex Jones as a guest within the first week, or so, to show his fans the show has not been compromised - he didn’t and hasn’t had him on - to me it speaks volumes.

It’s sorta/kinda like when David Letterman moved to CBS - the show was never the same. We’ve all seen the best that the Joe Rogan show had to offer and those heights will never be hit again.

This is not about opinions, it's about facts. He states so himself, very clearly. Some people need to learn the difference.

Imagine being a sell out because you are wrong.

This is what the world is coming to.

That's not how the burden of proof works.

No, not in a court of law isn't.

But for a radio show/podcast? I don't know the situation, but does he have an overlord now and is being forced to apologise for something he'd have said before for a laugh? Is that the deal?

It would have only taken one clown driving down I-5 to start it all. I believe it’s man made along with foregoing controlled burning which made it all worse

Dude has been a flip flopper since the fucking 90's, who do you think forced in "The Moon Landing Was Fake" back on News Radio.

This is one of those threads that makes me wonder if people are being hyperbolic or if people are really that far gone. The guy apologised for spreading nonsense, that's what adults are supposed to do - admit the mistake and move on, especially when you are in a position of social influence. Is wanting Alex Jones back on because you know he's insane and like to laugh at him? I hope so.

People don't have all the facts yet. He's acknowledging as such, which shows integrity.

If it turns out that some leftwing people were involved in starting the fires, I'm sure he'll bring it back up.

Being honest and accurate is important regardless of being in a court of law or not. It's especially important in any kind of media industry.

You don't know the apology was forced. Even if it was, it was still a good thing to do. You don't create an alternative to fake news by being fake news.

This isn't comparable to apologizing for a joke. This is a completely different scenario. Jokes deal with comedy and aren't serious. What Joe was talking about wasn't a comedy bit and was very serious.

Don't know much about Joe but how many times has he issued apologies like this in the past?

Didn't he just start this new job and seems to be backtracking already? I don't think people tune into him for facts, he is entertainment. If he can't shoot the shit without having to backpedal then he is being controlled/neutered.

Also "very serious"? For real? Seems trivial to me, if he can't even talk about this then that's him done.
