Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus, PSVITA Preliminary Detail

I went to pre-order the regular version but it was $80 plus substantial shipping. I can't afford that at this time. :(

Western release and I am there day 1. Sony, how about a PSN state-side release with Japanese VA and no translation?
It is a lot to spend on a single game, for sure, but I feel it will be well worth it. It helps that I'll get it shipped along with a few of my other pre-orders via AmiAmi] to save a bit on shipping. Thank you combined shipping!

As much as I'd like to hope for a North American release [in any form], I somehow doubt we'll ever get it. :(

Oh, and add me to "Team Tits are Life", although "Team Ass is Hometown" will always be friends of mine. ^_^

T&A aside, how is the game? the short clip from trailer looks fast, flashy and fun. the action gameplay looks more of dynasty warrior kind where you beat hundreds of dudes with it's simple combo system, I don't really like dynasty warrior gameplay much, found it very repetitive and boring.

Yo that remix of Mozart's Requiem in the trailer.

Good stuff. Following on twitter.

I'd like you on Facebook but uh...my family tends to read my updates.

Well unfortunately for you, the producer has already straight up said it's a Dynasty Warriors-style game. The 3DS games garnered the same repetitiveness complaints as well despite being on a 2D plane.

All I'm hoping for out of this is that they make actual stages to run through as opposed to just big empty boxed-in arenas.

You may have convinced me. Is AmiAmi cheaper than CDJapan and Play-Asia?

Shipping is absolutely cheaper. I've found the prices on CDJapan, even for SAL Regular/Registered, to be more expensive than AmiAmi. I can't imagine the Limited Edition being too large [even with the included figures], so you should easily be able to ship it SAL Registered.

I'm not sure if you've used AmiAmi before, but they're amazing. I spend hundreds of dollars with them monthly, and haven't had one issue. You pre-order now and don't have to pay until release [obviously]. They'll send you a Paypal link when the items are in-stock, and you pay then. They don't [normally] accept cancellations, though, so make sure you're interested before ordering. Repeated cancellations have a tendency to result in your account being banned. Just a warning. :(

The Japanese yen conversion would be around $110-$115 for the game, and maybe an additional $20 or so for shipping via SAL Registered [if it's not too heavy/large]. You're still looking at around $135 for everything [when totalled], but it should still be priced cheaper than everyone else [that's normally been my experiences]. ^_^

Since these is the most recently updated SK thread, I was wondering if someone could help me with SK and SKB on 3DS.

Could you give a quick rundown on the controls and what they do? I'm not sure what L and R do, and beyond just attacking and continuing combos in the air when the green circle appears, I feel like there are parts to the combat that I'm not utilizing or am unaware of.

The tutorial explains it pretty well.

The three bars are :
HP
supermove bar
clothing meter (if this goes to 50% and 0% your clothing gets damaged)

B = Jump
Y = fast, weaker attack
X = slower attack.
A = Dash (short invulnerability frame)

When in a mission you can use the touchscreen to switch screens and move form the mission summary + objective screen to the screen that shows you attack combinations. The green circles moves are launchers.

When you launch an enemy and the green circle appears press the Dash button (A) and you will jump into the air with the target(s). There you can continue to attach them with Y or pile-drive them with X. The higher your level (and when transformed) the longer / more often can you chain enemies. Usually you strart out with the ability to knock enemies into the air once, and then you are able to continue to juggling for one sequence. Later you unlock a mode that allows you to indefinitely juggle (more on that later).

L = ninja transformation (if you have at least 1 bar of your super-meter)
L + Y (on the ground) = level 1 special move. Consumes 1 bar.
L + Y (in the air) = air special move. Consumes 1 bar.
L + X (on the ground) = level 2 special move. Consumes 2 bars.

These unlock at later levels (air and ground lvl 2 moves). You start wiith level 1 ground move. The level depends on the character, although it is usually around 15 for the air and 20 for the level 2 ground.

Doing levels normally, in the clothing you start with, or in L (= ninja transformation) mode will raise the red bar you can see during the character select. Pressing L + R at the beginning of a level allows you to do it in your swimsuit. You take more damage in this mode but you will also deal more. If you max both of these bars you unlock senran mode in which you are generally stronger and can juggle indefinately.

Three random comments:

1.) if you finish an enemy boss ninja with a super move their clothing will always fall off - no matter how much they had on prior to that point.
2.) The hit # / combo gauge seeems to be one of the most important aspects when determning the amount of XP you get at the end of a level. Thus, keeping that up will make you level a lot faster.
3.) In general, the combat is not ultra deep.

I rehosted them just for you:

I already have my Limited Edition pre-order placed at AmiAmi. ^_^

I was going to cancel and then re-order the Limited Edition with AmiAmi bonus, but it's an extra 2,000 yen or so [for, what seems like, a bag]. I'm not sure if it'll be worth it, considering the LE is already just under 9,000 yen...

I don't even have a Vita yet, but I will absolutely purchase this game anyway [for when I do].
