What I hope versus what I expect out of the Nintendo Switch 2 direct tomorrow!

They are going to make a big deal about the cursor mode, so a bunch of launch titles will be a combination of IPs people want, plus some shoe-horned in cursor stuff that some people are going to be peeved about
- Mario Kart being more of a Mario Kart Maker with a track editor
- Yoshi game where you can draw shapes with different materials and summon them into the game to solve basic platform puzzles
- Zelda might just be a low-effort remaster but allowing the cursor for the building of things

US$ 449 and releasing sooner rather than later. I suspect June.

Mario Kart 9, Metroid Prime 4 and something like 1, 2 Switch as the first party launch titles, alongside with Zelda BotW HD update. Teaser of a new 3D Mario.

I can't see any of this happening. The Switch 2 will launch in June. Hands on events are happening this month. Reports are shipments have gone out. Absolutely no reason to hold off until late this year.

As for the price, that seems a little high, although I wouldn't be shocked at 449.

Nintendo apparently have a plan to beat the scalpers. Lets hope it works.

Anyway, my biggest hope is that the mouse function is used by third party devs.

I want to see AoE, Sims, Total War (older titles of course), Company of Heroes
Many reports and rumors have been wrong

What I hope:

*The Switch 2 is a powerhouse. It's a true modern marvel and insane how Nintendo is squeezing Switch 2 graphics into such a small space.
*All of the Big third parties are on board and just can't wait to release their titles on the Switch 2. Rockstar comes out and announces GTA 6 releasing on Switch.
*Nintendo games are just going to be insane: They revolutionized the industry again with the new Mario, New Zelda, New Star Fox, New Fzero, etc. Nintendo has been at work and these games are going to revitalize a stale gaming market.
*Switch 2 launching around June for $399.99 standard edition or $499.99 Pro edition (Amoled Screen and increased built in storage) New type of game like Wii Sports built in
*After the Announcement the fans and media are Super Hype: People are getting rock hard for this device. Even the critics find little to complain about

Reality if this is expectations:

Speaking of disappointment, that's what I expect.

The reveal announcement instilled 0 confidence. I don't have much hope that the hardware or software will be very compelling out of the gate.

If we get dlss to 1440p for Nintendo games is fine we are talking about on portable hardware. If this thing can take ~720p native render to dlss at ~1440p then upscale to 4K I'm ok with this. My worry is we still locked to 30 fps for a bunch of games just at higher resolution.

you're disappointed in literally everything that doesn't have Sony's name on it. Don't know why you have this sudden hate boner for Nintendo of all companies though

You're offended over anyone that could possibly think Nintendo isn't the greatest thing in the world lately.

If they impress, I will gladly eat crow and pre order one. But my expectations are held low for a reason, I did not like the Switch all that much.

I expect a GAMES TSUNAMI that nobody can deny. I hate to limit myself, but I expect graphical upgrades to Switch games with uncapped framerates and an explosion of a half dozen Nintendo games between now and Christmas and DOZENS of third party titles. The EAGLE HAS LANDED.

EDIT- What I hope for does not exceed what I expect. If we get the low-end UE5 game on the spec sheet, we're still getting UE5 support, which will be the mainstay for another decade.

Hoping for another mainline Zelda but don't think that's going to happen since Totk came out almost two years ago I expect another Mario kart and mainline Mario game which I'm not complaining about and they'll show the new Metroid on switch 2 hardware. I guess I'm excited and ready to pre-order really been 8 years since switch released got dam

I hope a new Zelda game is announced or shown and not just a remake of remaster.
Not going to lie, Id kill for a Ocarina of Time Remake in modern graphics to show off the switch 2.

Its kind of too soon for a new open world Zelda game. The last one was in 2023. It typically takes 6 years to develop a open world Zelda game. Unless they had another team working on it for years.

I don't want another open world Zelda game. Give us a new one that goes back to being more like other Zeldas.

You fanboys are gonna buy it no matter what the fuck it is so whats the point of if…then threads.
You're right, as a matter of fact OP should answer your question if you promise to finally post more than once or engage with anyone in the thread.

That would make for a good deal.

a\A non open world Zelda will do

Hope:

1. MCC + all ms game studios ports on Switch 2(and PS5)
2. New 3D Mario
3. capability to display 4k resolution docked even if just for the menu
4. FFIX Remake
5. Oblivion remake shadowdrop
6. XBCX upgrade on Switch 2
7. Mario Kart/Metroid better be there of course
8. Silksong day 1 on Switch 2(and everything else)
9. FFTactics Remake
10. Zelda collection: Wind Waker, Twilight Princess
mario kart 8 remastered :messenger_tears_of_joy:

The Animal Crossing group is the same as the Splatoon group, but there's not too much overlap between the teams. The Mario Kart group made Arms and then spent most of the Switch era on MK Tour.

I don't see Animal Crossing being revealed when Tomodachi Life is next year.
Who in the fuck plays these games? Its like the Sims acid trip special needs step child

I expect:

*snip*-

- Silksong Tactics

I'm with you, Silksong is actually my most expected title from the presentation and that's because I haven't bought Nintendo hardware since GC. The rest of the stuff will be novel curio to look at.
Hopefully the devs are such Nintendo fans they held up the date reveal for the S2 presentation.

Oh, okay. Thanks.

And I agree. Tbh I see Splatoon 4 releasing before Animal Crossing as well.

I am going to drag my ass out of bed early to watch this thing tomorrow (I have a different sleep schedule and normally do not go to bed until 2-3am) I am trying to curve my expectations and not let myself be so disappointed. Hopefully I am pleasantly surprised. I am a pessimist so take that for what it's worth.

What I expect:
*Switch 2 has more power than the Switch for certain but not a massive upgrade. Games barely look better than the current switch model with 1440p being the real upgrade. Slow down will be an issue because they have to balance between power and portability battery power. It's an upgrade but most wont' find it that big of one.
*Only a few of the leach 3rd parties are fully on board. You see the scum like EA, Ubisoft, and other studios who just shove their shit on other platforms to make a buck. Big names like Rockstar "support" the swith with the likes of GTA 5 "Switch ediiton" With no plans to release their newer titles on the platform.
*Nintendo is no doubt one of if not the best developers in the business. Of course their games are going to be good but it maybe just more of the Same. I could just see like Mario Wonder 2, Tears of the Kingdom 2, etc. The Safe formula. It's not creating a sequel to one of their IP's but not doing anything special and just making safe sequels.
*Switch 2 launches in late fall of 2025 with a retail price of $449. The only bundle options is adding a game and making it a cool "$500." Scalpers will of course eat all of the unit's up and most casuals wont' be able to get a unit for under $800
*After the Announcements: Fans are lethargic. The hardcore Nintendo fans praise anything Nintendo does but the non N fanboy feels either disappointed or just mediocre to it. There will be a Split of many fans loving it and many fans hating it.
At minimum the GPU alone will be around 7x - 10x more performant than Switch 1, especially when you take into consideration the architecture improvements. The CPU upgrade will also be quite noticeable.

A similar audience to people who play The Sims, Animal Crossing or other games in that genre. Tomodachi Life on 3DS sold over 7 million copies.
